The budget deficits in California is forcing the elimination of many programs as a possible answer. Without any other forms of raising revenue are the additional taxes going to start just as the economy is waking up?

You'd think being the conservative man he is, would eliminate the unbearable confinements of small business taxes that CA has on it businesses, and create a governmental body of less government, imposing their will on all businesses period in CA.  It is cheaper to film a picture in any other state of the union, than in CA.  Hollywood, Hollywood is for show, and to rake in millions of tourist dollars.  Nothing is film there anymore.  The taxes are so high, that it is cheaper to travel all the way to New Zealand, shoot the film there, and travel back home to America.

You'd think, that Arnie boy, being the conservative he claims to be, would do something about those taxes.  But no- instead he decides to rob from the poor.  I wonder where he got that idea, Robin Hood perhaps and the story of King John?  Ironic.

That this- pay for the social programs with pot taxes.  It is time for this country to get realistic.  It is time for us to stop making things illegal.  It costs the American taxpayers trillions of dollars, basically, on wasted lawyer fees, jail cells, court costs, legislative fees, and so on.

It is time to legalize pot- and tax the shit out of it.

Legalize and tax marijuana.  Problem solved.  Anything else? I'm kind of busy today.

Is there enough revenue to support this claim.  What kind of figures are we talking about?

But with a proposed $50 tax on an ounce of pot is it feasible to expect people to not just grow it for themselves and eliminate the additional expense?

Do people grow their own tobacco?  Brew their own beer?  Yes to both in very limited quantities.  If you think homegrown weed will be done on a grand scale, you seriously over estimate the work ethic of the majority of stoners.

            I need a nap now.

Except pot is alot easier to grow, it is just a weed after all.

Easier than brewing beer?  The actual labor for brewing a 5 gallon batch takes roughly 2 minutes.  The mixture does the rest.

Growing good pot is considerably more difficult.

I've grown it. All I did was put some seeds in the ground. I had six foot tall plants in a couple of months with nothing by rain water and no fertilizer. It doesn't get easier than that. If it was legal I'd fill my back yard with it and sell it myself.

That's very interesting.  In fact I'd like to come over and discuss this with you personally.  Where do you live?

I think you underestimate the cost factor when such serious taxing makes it so expensive.  With more people growing their own pot on a far grander scale than homebrew or grow tobacco, the competition will be the consumer and not the scale it is produced by commercial enterprise.

Maybe if you think you are the official word on the subject I think your haste to dismiss the problem with one solution to the budget crisis with local governments is far more complex than you offer.

There's no way they will be dumb enough to raise taxes. The pot thing would probably help, but I don't know if it would be enough, or be fast enough.  It does seem long over due.

You gotta do, what your gotta do.

    It is that simple.

Of course don't throw out the ones, illegals, that don't belong. They only eat up most of your debt.

We, America, are not going to support states that have sanctuary cities anymore. You want to promote unlawful activity... you pay the price.

When your broke... too bad. Cut your shit.

Somebody has to pay for the programs or they have to go.

Who and what should be cut.

The Federal Government loaned the State of California $8 Billion.  How are they going to repay it?  They aren't.

So the real issue is what should or shouldn't be cut, and can programs which have no funding be maintained?

    He has to cut something.

Instead of social programs maybe he should consider cutting road construction, schools, water treatment?

Something has to go.  Or of course they can just tax everyone more.
