Just for fun, wondering, on average, how long does it take most Hubbers to create a Hub?
I'm finding, on average, it takes me 2-3 hours to create a Hub - that includes creating the content, organizing the layout/adding relevant capsules, etc. I very rarely write my content ahead of time or in a second doc (although I should because I've lost content many times by not doing it that way). Usually when I sit down to write a Hub it's because an idea has popped into my head and I'm starting from scratch.
So, just wondering, what the average appears to be, what your method of madness is to publishing Hubs, and if any one has tips on how they speed up the process?
Mine take between 1 and 3 hours to write. On occasion I'll spend longer than that because I am taking care of my daughter as well as writing and she might need me for something and therefore interrupt what I'm doing.
1-3 Hours and sometimes I have to save it and go back other times if they are short it can take me about an hour and a half. ![]()
The way I do it is to plan it out in my head in advance. I always have a fairly clear idea as to what I am going to create in the first instance before even signing in to the site.
When I then sign in, I would say about an hour sees me having added enough content to be happy with putting the Hub live. This, however, means that I may have spent a couple of days or more from the stage of getting the idea to publishing the Hub.
What we should always remember with our Hubs, of course, is that Hubs are essentially mini Web pages and that Web pages have to be kept fresh if they are to be successful in the long term. This means that we should be going back to our Hubs and adding new content and material on an extremely regular basis.
Like Curious Traveller says, the more work you do in advance the faster it can be made.
It usually takes me about an hour or two, depending on what I'm working on. If its mostly my own content I've got it at the ready.

Good, now I don't feel too bad. It seems like everyone is about the same. I always use my own unique content, so that probably helps delay the process.
I don't even want to talk about how many Hubs I started and never finished...

Procrastination is a punk. ![]()

I don't always find this necessary. I've found using a RSS or News capsule using my targeted phrase works just fine.
I've actually noticed sometimes when I edit my hubs my placement in the search engines drops or disappears, so I've learned to leave them alone, usually, once I hit publish. I may add a link or two, or remove one or two, but leave the content untouched.
Anyone else?

Yes, it is, and i'll be the first to admit I'm a procrastinator! LOL not exactly proud of it though, in the works of changing and managing my time better...
but then I start doing things like social networking and posting in forums and... uh-oh, where'd the time go? LOL

That happens to me a lot!
I create my articles in Word first. Sometimes I write an article in one sitting, but most of the time I write the concept, do research, finish and then start creating the hub. The steps are sometimes done over several days when I have the time to mess with it, or am in the mood. Then I work on the photos - take them for the article or edit ones I have already taken.
Actually putting it on the hub only takes about 30 minutes. Creating the article depends on the subject and if it requires research. I guess 1-3 hours is about right.

Not at all - I have sites ranked on page 1 of google which I haven't touched for 6 months.
If you do want to automatic update your hubs just add a frequently updated RSS feed, a news feed and/or an eBay capsule
It depends upon, the subject you want to write.
Any body cant tell you the proper length of hub.
I can create a hub between thirty minutes and an hour of constant work. After I decide on a topic, I search Yahoo or Google for relevant images. Then I add my two revenue capsules, ebay and amazon to the content capsule. If I am writing on a political topic, I will add the News feed though now I will add that to more than just the political articles. As one commenter said, News Feeds keep the hubpage updated and current.
Then I am ready to type in my text which as of recently, I have been using two text capsules. After thoroughly proofreading the hubpage, I have it published and then distribute it to the social media the HubPages Staffers have selected using the share icon. I always list my comments after my revenue capsules to help with any online shopping that the reader may be interested in. All work is done within thirty minutes to an hour.
I have written 257 hubs in a matter of three months. I used to write in a tablet, transfer the writing to Microsoft Word and then copy and paste to the text capsule. Once I gained confidence in Hubpages, I started writing directly in the text capsule, saving time to write more articles.
Most of my articles have taken a minimum of five hours to write. Research, photography and editing take more time. I am guessing that my average hub has taken eight hours to put together.
I think my hubs take an average of four hours. Some go fast, some go slow. I have started hubs and worked on them when I have time for a couple of weeks. It would be nice to write from start to finish but I am way too busy with other things in my life. I do write them as I go. I usually do all of it as I go. When I finish I go back and tweak everything. Some of my best hubs are right off the top of my head.

I'm not asking so much about the length of a hub as much as how long it takes to create one. I was feeling like it was taking me forever to create hubs sometimes. And I have been working on time management lately for myself, so I am just trying to get a realistic idea of how much time I should put aside for creating new Hubs.

Thanks. That's about how I do my Hubs (except without Word but directly in the capsules). Unfortunately, often times when I start a Hub I have to be pry'd away from the computer until I finish it (I guess because I know I may never finish it if I walk away ).
I did this once (craft a Hub elsewhere) and it was relatively easy to just throw it up on HubPages... I wish I could put a post-it right next to the "Start a new hub" button reminding me to do it this way. I usually tend to dive in and start crafting my Hubs here.
I make my hubpages all online. Sometimes I need to spend a lot of time on research so I just leave the hub unfinished, unpublished and get back to it later.I think on average it take an hour or two for me to create a hub page, but it does vary depending on how I feel on the day.

No me. I fiddle all the time. They go down, but then rebound again after a day or two in my experience (only 8 months)
