      I don't know why. but that reminds me of the first man allowed to examine the pyramids and created modern archeology, he was dressed in a tutu when he did it. haha true story and the Egyptian officials allowed him to do it because they thought he was touched by Allah. LOl

      I wear the female ice skating dresses first and foremost because it's an incredible thrill, nothing I've ever experienced gets adrenaline flowing like going out and blading dressed in one of these awesome outfits. The adrenaline rush lasts for several hours after I've changed into "normal" guy wear no matter how many hours I've been out "dressed up".  Secondly,  they are incredibly comfortable and pretty and because they take more guts to wear than any other outfit a guy can wear. Since childhood I've really liked the look, feel and thrill but it's the response of the girls when I got to be a teenager that was incredible.

   Because it is a sport where speed is involved so body hugging clothes are required and that makes it look like a a girl's clothes.

   Erm, can you give an example? I've been watching ice skating since I was a toddler and I don't ever remember seeing a male ice skater in women's clothes, except as a joke in comedy routines. (Brasseur and Eisler had a great one in the mid-90's. Other old school skating fans, notice who's in the Related Videos at the same event. *sniffles* The Kiss program was one of my favorites. But then, I don't think G&G ever had a program I didn't love. )
   
   
   
   No. There are four major categories of figure skating: men's, women's, pairs, and ice dancing. Men's and women's are both for solo skaters, pairs and ice dancing have a team of one male and one female.

      Elvis Stojko made it more masculine but I notice they are going back to more ballet-like movements.

         There are lots of gays in ice skating (and ballet), but lots of straight guys too. I don't get why either one of them is considered inherently unmasculine. I mean, look at them!

       The ironic thing is, I deliberately chose pictures of two heterosexual, cisgendered men but there are still going to be people who think what they're doing is gay, as if grace and athleticism are somehow unmasculine. Personally, I'd take that over a beer drinking, slobby couch potato any day of the week.

    I didn't mean to imply that ballet dancers are not masculine I know it takes a lot of strength...as does figure skating. I enjoy watching men's figure skating very much

       I didn't take it that way, actually...if you look at ancient times, men were the only ones really allowed to partake in a variety of activities..
       
       ..I'm sure if the Greeks had sandals then they could have made slippers probably had some prettyboy ballet going on.

    Just a couple of days ago I heard that "controversy" about trying to make men's figure skating more "masculine".  Someone being interviewed on the news story said something like, "Why not just give them hockey skates, put them in the rink, and let them beat each other up."  Figure skating has those extra elements of costumes and "show".  I'm fine with figure skating "as is" (but I guess some people think making the guys more "masculine" will make more men want to watch it; I don't happen to think men who don't watch will be any more interested - but what do I know, I guess).
