Excellent point. Can't question that one.you have to enjoy your life, if not is a waste of time
I feel that if you enjoy something it does not feel like sacrifice. If you asked me to open a nappy (I have seen some bad ones!) and then have to clean the baby up while the smell is revolting, that feels like sacrifice in one sense, but I am doing something to make a beautiful child comfortable again, and that feels closer to love. Love+sacrifice = what?
Happiness?

It's a sacrifice with joy. If you don't understand that, you're doomed, man !
I don't agree, but if i try to find a logical explanation as to why, my mind goes in circles ![]()

I see where you are coming from. What happens in an instance where 2 people are in a war. 1 jumps on a grenade to save his friends life. Did he get to enjoy the sacrifice of saving his friends life if he is dead?

that's depressing. He'll never know if he succeeded or not. According to my belief system, i guess.

Ah, but you could consider him succeeding if the friend he saved had a wife and children at home. They would certainly be changed from the sacrifice along with the saved friend.

Well I wouldn't do it. That's a personal choice. I only do sacrifices for few people , and that out of love. In an extreme case as that, I'm out of it. I'm a very selfish person, and that's me

oh, he definitely succeeded, i just meant that he won't know whether or not his friends were saved because of his actions.

Maybe or maybe not. I don't think anyone can answer this for certain until they die. It is still fun to guess.
Wow, what a forum. I rarely go in here but this looks fun. To me we are in a combined universe, all is one kinda thing. As far as a god, yeah to me no. If there is a being/creature it has enough problems trying to control a universe/dimension to deal with egomaniac ants. As far as religions go, in my opinion they are all wrong and just trying to control people and gain power.
A soldier jumping on a grenade to save his fellow Corps men or soldiers, is doing this out of duty, honor and love. Those who have never served, and I don't mean in the rear or admin., know about the love between all service men. Those are your brothers, to me closer than my own siblings ever were or ever will be. Just my opinions, thanks and have fun.

Maybe we can take a guess? Dead is not a good place to operate from in my view.Once the brain stops functioning, there goes consciousness, so memory is gone as is anything that is stored electro/chemically but more dramatic, no access to the subconscious, so there goes soul, spirit, thought and religiosity.

Excellent thoughts.
@ egomaniac ants. outstanding. Very true on the military comment. More family based than individual based. I also agree on your religion comment. Thanks for adding.

Ah, what about those who have had "out of body" experiences while under anaesthesia during surgery who viewed the surgery while supposedly asleep with their eyes covered. One specific instance, the man was put to death for a few minutes for the operation. How is this?
Ending note: Truthfully, i don't know what i believe. Goodnight everybody!
