Relocation expenses for a job

Does anyone know if there is any money earmarked in the stimulous money to assist with the costs associated with relocating, should a job seeker land a job over 100 miles away? Things like the physical cost of the move, first and last month rent, etc? If you have diminished your savings and are surviving only on unemployment, it is difficult to make a move like this, it seems that to help get people off the unemployment roles, there would be money available to assist if a job offer from another state came through. Any advice?

relocating for a job is a tax write-off....not sure of the percentage that you would get back. i do hope that you had taxes taken out of your unemployment otherwise you will pay in the end.

No such funds that I am aware of, but you might want to talk to the employer about covering some of your relocation costs. Anybody who's good enough to get a job in this market might be able to negotiate that.

It is stimulus money and is intended to jumpstart or keep the economy going.
Under certain circumstances, some of your moving expenses may be tax-deductible. That means, you would have to lay the money out first and then get part of it back in your tax return.
Maybe there is somebody among your family and friends to lend you the money for the move? You could promise to pay the person back with your tax refund.
