A while back a Kiva team for HubPages was created.
http://www.kiva.org/community/viewTeam?team_id=7628
The 7 members there have loaned money to projects in the third world. I had a major chunk of my loans repaid today, so have reloaned this to new projects.
Do please check it out and if you like the idea sign up. You really can change someone's life for just $25.
I'm not promoting my hub, but as I don't have time to answer queries like "how does it work" etc, if you do want to know more there's info on my kiva hub at http://hubpages.com/hub/Kiva---Microlen … or-Poverty
I guess I am really hoping HubPages can drum up a little more than the seven members we have currently.
Do please join if you can and support getting people out of poverty!
Thanks for reminding everyone Julie
With our seven members we have donated a total of $1,200.00 right now... and I just relent $25 that I had gotten back.
It's fun, and you are helping someone who needs it.
This is very interesting. First time I've heard of Kiva. I'm reading through the profile and Julie's hub right now. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing this
Joined the group and made my first loan, feeling better already ![]()
Great idea. Joined and started. ![]()
Yes funride - doesn't it feel good?
Got home from the hospital yesterday finally after 2 days there (my Dad's dying of cancer) and TWO HOURS sleep the night before, got up this morning to a note from kiva that $160 of my loans had been repaid - so I relent it to other people.
In the middle of a horridly depressing time, it was a really good feeling to make a few clicks and do some GOOD for someone else!
Just joined Kiva under the hubpages team.
@Julie, I was sad to hear about your Dad. Hope you and your family remain strong through this hard time. Thanks for referring us to the Kiva site.
@Mark, thanks for your loan to one of my countrymen. The place where they are right now is just a few hours away from me. ![]()
@ Julie - Thank you for this.
@ emievil - small world. I hope it really makes a difference. I can barely buy 2 mangoes for that much money where I live. ![]()

You bet it will make a difference. It's like times 46 or 47 here

Hey Julie. I was scanning the list of the loans for the team and you guys have really given a lot. Hope to see more members coming in.

Me too. I think my figures are skewed as I reloan everything the second it's repaid, plus put so much a month into new loans, typcially.

Thank you for sharing this info here Julie. It warmed my heart a lot when people express their love and care by helping others. I am on my way to read your hub and to learn more about Kiva. Much love and light... ![]()
