As someone who tries to maintain a healthy lifestyle, I find myself gravitating more toward Holistic medicine/healing over traditional medicine. (Short Story)
My GodMother was diagnosed with Breast Cancer 8 years ago and she opted for Holistic treatment it was intense and called for a strict diet but she is in remisiion and healthier. I have never taken medication (colds, viruses', etc.) and always tried to heal myself other ways....So I ask, Holistic or Traditional?
Depending on the condition - but, I think they can work well together.

I use both but prefer natural like you.
Wife and I both use 'em both. Greatest "edge" is having our own body awareness relatively fine tuned, pick what we sense will work best at any given point, refuse to buy what any health practitioner (holistic or traditional) touts just because he/she touts it.

Both works.... I use the diagnosis from the doctor and then try my own thing

Very true I think for the most part our bodies have the ability to heal themselves and we should not be forced into anything because of "DR.'s orders"
We use holistic medicine when ever possible, though certain occasions require traditional medicine (such as surgery). For the most part, a chiropractor is about as mainstream as we go.
My husband has had back problems for years, and we have gone to the ER a number of times. The diagnosis was predictable, muscle spasms, the treatment, drugs.
Last week, he decided to try a Chiropractor, and the results have been just short of miraculous.
Physicians in the ER would never, of course, recommend Chiropractic services, so it seems we had to find this out for ourselves.
Congrats Lorlie6!
We made our decision to go more holistic when the doctors all told my husband he would never be able to walk right again, use a shovel or climb ladders. They told him that since he was young, it would be best to get trained for some sort of desk job.
As an avid hiker and outdoors man, this was unacceptable. We sought alternatives, and today, he works as an electrician -- often on ladders.

I think it's abundantly prudent to use both. There are times when you need the life-saving meds that prescriptions can offer. But most maladies I think are better solved with holistic approaches. The problem with prescriptions and pharma companies is that their approach is to reduce and manage symptoms using synthetic substances, and therefore one of the most COMMON side effects is cancer. In emergencies, they can be great, but long-term they are death. Therefore, treating holistically is a better approach overall, in my opinion.

I agree holistic is better long term as most meds evolve into other ailments and just treat the problem rather than cure as I have witnessed this myself first-hand
I have been having sleeping issues for years and recently found that melatonin helps much more than any other prescription sleeping aid I have tried. I would vote for Holistic any day.....
Both...knowing your body and it's reactions, melding holistic information with medical advice is powerful.
In addition lets not forget excercise, meditation and plenty of rest.....
Most of traditional medicine is holistic.
I prefer the traditional ways, but they require knowledge, strength and resources that most of us lack. What's more, the government's policies favor Western medicine. This doesn't leave us with much choice.
I'm a recent (3 year) Alternative Med convert. This after working my entire adult life in Western Medicine.
Yes I forgot to mention exercise as well. Running a few miles 3 times a week can be great for your body...
