It's interesting to know what pets can do that make people more attached and love them more.
Love both [dogs] dearly, but they do absolutely no tricks.
Mine dances to get a treat. She's smart, but I haven't put much time into training her. If you know some great hubs on teaching your pooch tricks, pass them on!
Codie: sit, stay, wait, down, dance, spin
Bella: sit, stay, wait, down, leave it, spin, roll over, wave, shake
MIA: sit, stay, wait, down, drop it, leave it, kisses, speak, shake and wave (and she can still do it while balancing on her back 2 legs- she's missing the other front leg)
A new study just came out that said all dogs have the ability to learn up to a 2 year old level and some dogs can learn up to a 4 year old level.
Most dogs can understand 4 year old MATH like addition and subtraction.
The average dog can understand 150 individual words while the smartest dogs can understand 350 words. But most of us just use the basic "sit" "stay" "speak" type stuff but our dogs can learn full sentences.
Your dogs ability directly coincides with how you treat your dog. If you treat your dog like a dog that can learn basic tricks, it will learn basic tricks nad nothing more.
If you treat your dog like a 2 to 4 year old, it will learn at that level and learn sophisticated operations.
I couldn't believe dogs new 4 year old math. It's pretty interesting.
I got three doggie kids. The eldest knows how to say sorry by kneeling down and kissing the hands. She moves and acts like a 4yr old kid. My youngest doggiekid is so charming, it melts every heart.

I've only had my new pet for a week, but he knows:
sit
stay
shake
heel
down
and he jumps and twirls on his hind feet a little when he sees me get the leash for a walk. so cute to see such excitement for the simple pleasures. ![]()
Hi,
Our dog, Lightning, is a white german shepard. My hubby is a neatnik and taught her how to wipe her feet when she comes in the house
She keeps wiping until you tell her ok, Holly
PS She also does the usual tricks.
My mini doxie, Peanut, is just too short to jump up on most things. She used to drive me nuts when she wanted to get up on my lap when I was working. She would just sit there and bark. So I taught her to just step on the top of one of my feet with her hind legs. I then lift up my foot with her on it and voila! Kind of like a personal doggie elevator! ![]()
