Yea! I have written the hub on the debate because I am so amazed that every hillbilly and his homosexual cousin is out to get this girl? Do the gay rights people rule the world of public opinion? Or is Prejean just a simpleton with a pretty face?
Um, sounds pretty biased from the opening of the gate. What kind of dicussion do you hope to achieve here?
I don't think she's a victim at all! She's getting all kinds of press and now has a book. She's benefiting greatly from what really never should have been a controversy. Right now, playing the victim is playing into her hand, her fame, and opening many doors to opportunities.
This recent "news-making storm" would not have earned any points in the character department even without the gay marriage remarks. Combined with remarks that implied a morality factor linked to the gay marriage issue, it makes any video she made look that much worse. If nothing else, she's someone who will do anything to get publicity - and that doesn't say much about her either.
Hardly a victim. Her scandal made her relevant and news worthy.
It's been my experience that many evangelicals like imagining they're martyrs when they're really not.
Just another contradiction in this society of religious bigotry. Submitting herself as a sexual object in a beauty pageant, but then casting judgement on someone else's lifestyle.
And she should have known to give a phoney, politically correct answer when that sleezey Perez Hilton asked her that question. Or just no comment. She should have just known that.

I want to interact directly with the forthright voices, albeit most that I have been reading today have been against her.
And just so you know that I am losing my innocence, this thread is without apology another shameless marketing of the referenced hub. Honestly.
She sounds like moron to me, who surrounds herself with people that treat her like their puppet. Has nothing to do with gay rights activists.
Gay powerbrokers? Are you talking about fashion?

I think the whole thing was a set-up to begin with. Her actual answer was not offensive, as she did say she believes in everyone's right to choose whom they will. There is nothing wrong with her belief that marriage is between a man and a woman, but Hilton wanted to make a stink on purpose, which is why he asked the question in the first place. Frankly, I admire her for stating her real opinion in the face of so obvious an onslaught.

I love the way you state your point, except she was just spouting what she learned in Sunday School and not setting out to cast judgement, if you are referring to the Perez Hilton encounter when you say 'casting judgement'.
Man, she showin' dem goods for Jesus.

Just because she's a hypocrite doesn't mean Hilton's not an a$$hole ![]()

Good to know I'm not the only one around here with eyes to see what's really going on.

Every believer and non believer got something to hide. Unfortunately hers was caught on camera.
I'm as much against porn as I am against same-sex marriage. But I want to defend her right to state her position. I imagine that using the word 'position' while talking about her is fodder for the mill.
I think that her answer made her different, making her different caused some controversy, causing controversy led to people checking out her background and past, which led to pics being exposed, which led to questioning, which may or may not have led to a boob job, not paying for the boob job, masturbation tape, more nude pictures, and then accusing larry king of asking inappropriate questions, being played like a puppet, writing a "book", making $$, and essentially getting what she wanted... along with the bad perhaps.
Stating her opinion sure. But everything else? Hmm.

And here was my reply to your hub:God bless you for writing a hub on this subject. I think I can say what I really think without getting banned again. Most of us have done far worst in the sex department than Carrie, to bad she put it on tape. My problem with her is she does not understand that gay people do not have the rights that straight people have when they get married. If you are opposed to gay marriage fine. I dont want to walk down your church aile or sit on your couch and drink tea with you. I dont want my kids givin to strangers if I die. I dont want my lover to have to fight the city for a month before they release my body to him. I dont want to have to pay higher taxes than a straight couple. I want to collect my partners Social Security just like you and carrie. You and Carrie can believe what you want. But dont deny me my rights as a United States Citizen. Dont you understand how evil that is. To smile in someone face and tell them they do not deserve the same rights you have "But I will pray for you". I dont think she deserve to have her sex life out in the public like this. But I do think she deserves to be challenged on her opinion on gay marriage.
