I Have watched many movies but I have really come to appreciate the role played by the Indian Bollywood Superstar Amitabh Bachan in the movie entitled BLACK. Oh...what a great piece of first class work it is? A full and complete review of the movie is posted on the East African Tribune, blog.eatribune.com, for those interested you can read.
I LOVE GEOFFREY RUSH!!!
jeff bridges, morgan freeman and philip seymour hoffman
RUSSELL CROWE is by far the best actor. He thoroughly researches and prepares for his roles, and really gets IN to the character he's playing. He really caught my eye in "Gladiator" - "strength and honor." He got his revenge on the man who killed his family.
Opposite of "Gladiator" was "A Beautiful Mind" - portraying a brilliant mind as opposed to a brawny man.
He's the BEST !

Kenneth Branagh
Jack Nicholson, Robert De Niro, Kevin Spacey, Gene Hackman, to name a few
Robert Downey Jr. Christian Bale,Forrest Whittaker,James McAvoy,Viggo Mortensen,Val Kilmer,Al Pacino,Johnny Depp
I'm surprised no one's mentioned Daniel Day-Lewis? I didn't really notice him until I saw Gangs of New York... his presence in that film is phenomenal.
Johnny Depp is definitely a fantastic actor! In real life, he is quite a boring person I have heard... I guess you could say he's a blank canvas and that's what makes him so great in movies! I absolutely loved him in POTC!
Are we only talking about actors, or actresses too?
Meryl Streep and Robert Downey Jr are my votes for best female and male, respectively.
My favourite Actor is VIJAYKANTH.. to know his full details..

Any actor who can play his character well and without giving me goosebumps is a good actor. But my choice is Hugh Jackman.
There are so many, but I have to say that I do like Hugh Jackman....for more than one reason! ![]()
Come now girls! I think you girls have mistaken the title of this thread lol. It's "best" not "hunkiest" actors of our time.
There is no way that Wolverine is a better actor than Russell Crowe. ;p

lol....if they're hunky, they must be good.
if they're not, who cares?
more seriously, although I actually do like Hugh Jackman's acting, and Mel Gibson's before him *wink*, I think that Tom Hanks has become very accomplished in his craft.
I'm having trouble thinking of anyone else, except the likes of all the knighted actors and Peter O'Toole, Gary Grant, etc. Not that I'm old enough to know who they are....my grandma told me.
Hugh Jackman was wonderful in The Boy from Oz, he is an outstanding actor ![]()
Touche` Shirley. lol And I didn't say that Wolverine is not a good actor. I just said that he is not as good as good as Russell Crowe. Jackman has shown that he is more than adequate on the stage and on screen. I just don't think that he has the chops of Russell Crowe. In my humble opinion the best actors of our time are Russell Crowe, Daniel Day-Lewis, Javier Bardem and Leonardo DiCaprio. I know a lot of people don't like Leo but I have to give him credit, he is very good. I also think that Tom Hanks is very good but I just don't think he has the carisma of the others I named.
Oh, and Shirley I would not dare dream of thinking that you were old enough to know anything about Carry Grant. Carry Grant, that's what the government gives to college students to help them pay tuition right Shirley? ![]()

LOL, hilarious, very smooth....and true, of course.
You know who I completely forgot?? George Clooney!!! He's my sister and friend's idol, I'm always breaking up arguments as to who he belongs to. But when discussing his talent, I have to say that between Oh Brother Where Art Thou and some of his more sophisticated roles, he seems to have a good range.
Thx Aaron, for clarifying for the forum that my chicken still has some spring.
I love those old black and white flicks.
For me my childhood idol of UK actor Norman Wisdom.
An actor that is consitently under the radar is Gary Oldman, he can disappear into any role or character.
