I know very well that Reiki makes lots of  difference and helps people around you!

1. Reiki heals you and provides you deep breathing and peace resulting in relaxation!
2. Reiki has possibility to remove negativity from within and helps to promote positive elements in you!
3. Reiki soothes the person with a magical touch and keeps stress away from you!
4. Reiki has capacity to invoke the creativity within the person and makes it reality through expressions!
5. Reiki provides the healing capacity to the holder and using it the person can heal other persons too!

Besides all these  other  benefits mostly occur with the person time to time and the person becomes more and more positive as well as peaceful!

It may well be that Reiki, practised by someone who has the inborn ability, is effective.

What annoys me is that there are people out there claiming to be able to teach Reiki to anyone.

I recall one of my acquaintances, Ana, going to the training course.  It was a reputable course run by the main Reiki practice in my city, and it wasn't a five minute introduction either.   She offered to give me a treatment.

For those who don't know, Reiki is the laying on of hands withut actually touching the body.  As she held her hands close to me, I could feel a mild warmth radiating from her hands, which suggested to me something might be happening.

My then boyfriend, who was a professional masseur, was more sceptical.  He decided to try copying her actions.  Within minutes, I could feel not just a mild warmth but a powerful heat radiating from his palms, a few centimetres from my skin.  The contrast was dramatic!  And he'd had no training in Reiki, only in conventional massage.

This guy was one of those masseurs who could start massaging someone's back and they'd say, "how did you know I had a pain exactly there?".  He had a gift, or a knack or whatever you want to call it.  If Reiki works at all, he's the kind of person who might be able to learn it.  My friend Ana had no natural ability - anyone who paid her to practise Reiki on them was wasting their time.

Reiki is the worst possible form of alternative treatment.

Absolutely avoid Reiki practitioners.

Charlatans. Most reiki "masters," have paid a higher level "master" to activate their powers.

It is the massage therapy equivalent of MLM. big_smile

Nonetheless.. I'm a sad panda right now.

If we were to compare life experiences, your list would be much longer by default (You're a year or two older than me. wink ) but at the end of the day we're still friends, regardless of what you think about reiki.

The opportunity for me to learn this style of energy channeling, energy healing, came in the form of a love gift.  Five people from all over the south-east were chosen to receive reiki instruction from a reiki Master of some years, for free.

I was shocked, of course, because I knew that there are people out there charging quite a lot for these teachings.  It paid off, in some ways, to be the girl who is friends with a crapload of people, including some of the big names in the Wiccan community.

That said, there are jerks in every corner who see the words "New Age" or "Alternative Medicine" and see nothing but dollar signs.  It is hard to get a good feel for modern pagan practices with that kind of pre-existing stigmata.

Oh and you will notice the OPs original post is gone - spammer.

Didn't mean to brag, just wanted to let you know I had some experience in this area.

I maybe shouldn't have tarred every reiki practitioner with the same brush, but this is standard practice and as a group, they have a very bad reputation in the massage therapy community.

Sorry to say.

There is the occasional genuine practitioner amongst them -  which you may be, but as a whole, they should be avoided. Individually, parhaps not.

There are many other forms of energy therapy that are more "respectable."

Didn't mean to offend you and it was in no way personal.

Good. I don't want to not be friends with you.

I am, I would think, a lot older than you. smile

I would also recommend, if this is something you are interested in, trying a variety of other modalities and learning them.

The school I studied at has now been sold to some cruise-line company to train therapists how to give facials (not that sort) but I know a few good teachers not very far from you. smile
