      Each year I dress up like a witch.  The kids in my neighborhood love my witch's hat.  It is great big, with a large owl sitting on the brim, with tree branches coming out of it and little white and green snails crawling up the branches.  I paid about 200 dollars for the hat about 3 years ago, and it has been a smashing hit ever since.

   Well, if you're not planning on dressing up as something "scary", you're killing the TRUE purpose of Halloween, which would be to keep the evil spirits that cross over in the evening at bay. But I guess if dressing like a pirate or a total slut and going to a bar to get trashed is your thing, then whatever, knock yourself out.
   
   I'm not trying to offend anyone or get some heated internet battle started, but it's just ignoring the original intent of the modernized version of this pagan holiday would be like looking for Easter eggs on Christmas, it's totally out of step.
