      Aloha Sophia - I know this thread is a bit dated but it caught my eye so I thought I'd respond smile

      May Day here in Hawai'i is when we celebrate the flowers. As the song goes, "May Day is Lei Day in Hawai'i ... "  Local schools have a May Day celebration where they choose a King and Queen and each of the 8 islands are represented by a Prince and Princess.  They dress in the colors of their island, wear the island flower leis and every class entertains with a song or dance they've been working on for months.  It's a huge celebration here in Hawai'i.
