Review and Guide to the Best Rollerblades for Girls

Skating is a great way to get exercise that many people love. There are different types of skating you can do - indoor, outdoor, derby, and inline.

If you know a young lady that likes to skate, consider the products we are discussing here to find her the perfect skate.

Roller Skates come with designs made for both indoor and outdoor activities. This type of footwear has a shoe, often a high top, with four wheels on the bottom, and the brake on the front toe.

If you find a skate you like and you want to use it for both outdoor, and indoor recreation, then check with the manufacturer to see if they offer wheels that you can change out.

Derby skates are made to last because they need to take a beating when on the derby rink. They are also made to gain a lot of speed, and handle tight turns well.

Inline Skating versus Rollerblading

Some people get confused when it comes to the terms inline skating, and rollerblading; they are the exact same thing however.

Inline skates were already invented when the brand Rollerblade began to sell their design. They were so successful in marketing these types of skates though, that it has become a household name.

The most common type of inline skate is the recreational design. These are used by people who are participating in the sport for exercise, usually outside. With wheels in line and a brake on the back, they give a different kind of ride than roller skates do.

They give a lot of ankle and foot support and are made to be worn for long periods of time. Racing inline skates are made to go fast and offer interchangeable wheels to use both outdoors and indoors. If you play roller hockey, there are specific skates for that sport as well.

Consider the Wheel Size

One thing you are going to want to keep in mind when shopping is wheel size. Most skates come with 70 or 72mm wheels. The better skates on the market will offer you 76mm wheels. The bigger the wheels, the faster the speed. ABEC ratings are always listed for bearings on skates as well.

The higher the number, the more precise the bearing has been made. This number does not equal speed however. However, if you take good care of your bearings, keeping them clean and oiled, you should not have to worry much about how high of a rating your bearings have.

Top Rated inline Girl Skates Review

Mongoose Girls In-Line Skates

The Mongoose Girls In-Line Skates are highly rated skates for girls sizes 5-8. They feature a cool tattoo design with roses on the outside of the skate shoe and are pink which most girls like.

They are made with a lightweight aluminum chassis and feature ABEC-7 speed bearings and 76mm cast urethane wheels.

For fitting and safety you get a power strap and a locking buckle fit system. They seem very sturdy and even though they feature larger wheels, they do not let my daughter pick up too much speed, but she can still go fast enough to have fun.

I've been impressed that they stay on tight and don't give her blisters at all.

Roller Derby Web Stinger Adjustable Girl's Inline Skates

Another good option are the Roller Derby Web Stinger Adjustable Girl's Inline Skates. My daughter loves the design on these skates more than anything else; it features a white web over the pink shoe for an edgy look.

It has an very easy to use pull-and-tighten lace system. For fitting, you get a cam-lever buckle that has an easy push button size adjustment.

The liner can be removed and washed with ease as well. These are made with a polymer frame and feature 70mm speed formula wheels and ABEC 5 chrome steel bearings.

Rollerblade Girl's 2014 Spitfire TW Adjustable Inline Skates

Rollerblade Girl's 2014 Spitfire TW Adjustable Inline Skates have been well worth the money.

These will adjust a full 4 shoe sizes to ensure long term use and a good fit. They feature stable 72mm 80A durometer wheels matched with a SG3 bearing that are very durable.

The frame is made of composite and can handle a 76mm wheel upgrade if desired.

I've been very impressed with the amount of ankle support and cushioning that these skates have. My daughter tells me all the time that they are more comfortable than her shoes!

Roller Derby Girls Cobra Adjustable Inline Skate

I like the Roller Derby Girls Cobra Adjustable Inline Skate since the boot seems to conform to my daughters foot.

These skates feature a push button adjustments for an accurate fit; it has a dual locking cam-lever buckle and enough padding to make these fairly comfortable to wear.

These skates will fit girls from small 12-1, to medium 2-5 so they can grow into them. They are made with reinforced nylon and feature urethane speed formula wheels and feature ABEC 5 bearings.

I like the easy lace system though the strings are very long and you need to find a way to tuck them out of the way. These seem very sturdy and if a product like this can stay out in the elements and still not show signs of wear, it must be a good product indeed.

Roller Derby Firestar Girl's Roller

The highest rated in this category is the Roller Derby Firestar Girl's Roller. These purple skates are sure to be a hit with young girls.

A sport shoe is featured with a velcro and lace closure boot, and they were made with a lightweight torsion beam frame.

The ankle support seems adequate. They use 54mm urethane wheels with 608Z excellerator bearings. It seemed to me that the skate sizes run a bit small so you might want to consider buying one size up.

For an extra fun time, these Roller Derby Sparkle Girl's Lighted Wheel Roller Skates are the perfect choice for a flashy little girl. With 54mm outer wheels that light up when skating, she'll love being the center of attention.

These are fun to use at indoor skating arenas where the lights are already dim. They are made around a torsion beam chassis that feature a lot of durability and stability.

Roller Derby Girl's Venom Quad Skate

Roller Derby Girl's Venom Quad Skate is a highly rated skate as well.

They are made with a lightweight torsion beam chassis and feature 54mm urethane wheels with Excellerator 608ZB bearings.

I did notice that these skates also ran about a size or two smaller. I have also been very surprised at the speed with which my daughter gets on these skates. Because of this, I would not recommend that a beginning skater use these.

Roller Derby ZX-9 Girl's Combo Pack

For a complete skating package, consider this Roller Derby ZX-9 Girl's Combo Pack.

Instead of spending a bunch more money on a helmet and pads, this package contains all you need to get your little girl skating as soon as possible. Your purchase includes the skate, a helmet, Boneshieldz knee pads, elbow pads and wrist guards.

The shoes are made with an embroidery look and feature a reinforced ankle with power straps for stability. You get 64/70 urethane cast wheels and ABEC 5 bearings.

One thing that my daughter noticed right off the bat is that they seem to breathe better than others we've tried; her feet don't get near as sweaty. These skates do adjust as your child grows in size. Be advised that this is a very good deal for a beginner skater

Roller Derby Girls Tracer Adjustable Inline Skate

For the modern type girl, the Roller Derby Girls Tracer Adjustable Inline Skate might be just the thing.

These skates feature a high boot that is soft, and has a dual cam lever buckle, push button adjustment system and extra padding. The outside of the boot has a fun red tracing design that has a honeycomb cover along the edge of the shoe.
