Best Xbox 360 Games of the Year 2010

Updated on March 12, 2011

My Top Xbox 360 Games of the Year

Looking back over 2010 we have seen some fine games and in this list I am talking some of my favourite Xbox 360 games of the year, and this article is similar to other Best Xbox 360 Games -- articles I have already done. You may even find some exiciting new games and this is just an opinion and yes I welcome comments and there will be a poll including an option for "Other". So let the festive debate start and I hope you have all enjoyed Xbox 360 gaming this year!

In the coming weeks I may also do an article along the lines of "Most Exciting/Best Xbox 360 Games of 2011" as well!

So let's start! Oh and these games are in no particular order - just quality games and now it comes to it I find it hard to remember what games were even released this year and out of them narrow the list down!

Also you may find it interesting to see what I said the best Xbox exclusives would be in 2010 a few months ago.

Halo Reach and Special Bundles

Halo Reach

Bungie's last Halo game and probably the main and best Xbox 360 exclusive - Halo Reach is definitely better than Halo 3 and a million times greater than ODST. Apart from anything else Reach provides loads to do, with matchmaking with the new armour abilities like jetpacks , a new and improved Firefight which lets you play online, a brilliant campaign, an improved Forge, new maps, weapons, achievements, avatar awards, the new armoury system and even new mission types like going into space, great customisation and more.

It is the best of all the Halo's and a triumphant end of an era. Amazing game!

Red Dead Redemption

Red Dead Redemption

Red Dead is an excellent game and is easily the best Western game yet! And with the new zombie mode it looks set to become even better! Undead Nightmare adds 3 DLC packs and is a standalone game (you don't need Red Dead to play it) and also it is not stored on your hard drive and can be sold and given to friends e.t.c. which is good.  It includes the awesome zombie DLC which will provide hours of fun with a new campaign, new world, new everything but with the characters from RDR and even new music, different zombie types, new modes, it really is like a whole new video game at a great price.  And then you get the other DLC packs which add to the multiplayer with new maps, weapons, characters and game play modes!

Impressive!
Impressive!

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit

This is a really fun racer which I am going to buy soon but I have played it! It has really brought the fun back into Need for Speed and this is due to the change of developer to Criterion - the Burnout developers!

NFS:HP is just brilliant fun and allows you to smash other racers, seen what is happening with the new Autolog, race and get great cars. You can even be the cops for the first time too! There are also new weapons to unlock like Spike Strips and EMP's as well as helicopters making it more fun.

Highly recommended!

Kinect

Kinect Sensor with Kinect Adventures!

This is an incredible piece of technology and supply is low especially for Christmas so the prices have gone up!

Kinect

Kinect will extend the life of the Xbox 360 massively and it is better than I thought it would be and there is news recently about how the power of Kinect could be quadrupled.  Already developers are thinking about how they can use Kinect and whole new genres could be used.

At the moment the focus is more on family games which are excellent but I can really see it changing to hardcore games and mixtures between the two.  There are some really great games already out for Kinect which prove it is better than the Wii with the addition of the already awesome Xbox, no controllers, Xbox Live, DLC, achievements and normal Xbox games too.  You can talk to your friends using Video Kinect.

Kinect really has opened up gaming and is very exciting.

Below are some of my favourite Kinect games!

Other Great Xbox 360 Games

There are many other great Xbox 360 games from 2010 that were brilliant and some are better than some of the ones listed here. Below are some of my other favourites and their genres vary from shooters to sports games to adventure to RPG showing the diversity of the Xbox 360!

Mass Effect 2

Mass Effect Platinum Hits - Xbox 360
Mass Effect Platinum Hits - Xbox 360
Just an excellent RPG and an excellent game which is still not out on PS3! Available at an incredible price now!

Call of Duty Black Ops

Call of Duty: Black Ops - Xbox 360
Call of Duty: Black Ops - Xbox 360
By no means the best game but it is still great fun and I like the addition of extras like Dead Ops Arcade, the multiplayer, combat training and the exciting new wager modes and campaign and ZOMBIES return!

Assassins Creed Brotherhood

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
Amazing with the added bonus of a fun multiplayer! The Amazon reviews should say enough out of 55 - it is 5 star! 44 gave 5 , 6 gave 4, and 1 misery gave it one star! (To be fair he made a couple of good points but he should have given at least 3 or 4 stars!)

Fifa 11

FIFA Soccer 11 - Xbox 360
FIFA Soccer 11 - Xbox 360
The best football game to date (and yes we probably say that a lot) Personality + makes a difference, can now be the goalie, Ultimate Team is free, new passing and more customisation improve the game. Not perfect but quite close but because they are released every year can't really justify putting it higher.

Fable 3

Fable III - Xbox 360

Good but could have been better!

Top Xbox Games 2010

I hope you have enjoyed reading this article and have enjoyed being an Xbox gamer in 2010! I have really loved some of these games and with the introduction of Kinect - the Xbox is very exciting.

Mind you there were not many completely new series this year but the sequels were really good and much improved (Halo, Need for Speed, Fifa, Assassins Creed e.t.c).

Now's the time to share this article with your friends, tweet it, like it, vote in my poll, leave comments and argue (no rude words though!) and have a laugh. Oh yeah and buy some Xbox 360 stuff from Amazon - go on these are good games!

Thanks for reading and why not check out my other Best Xbox 360 Games articles and my other Hubpages.

My personal favourite were Halo reach and Kinect - what's yours?

Thanks!
