Buy Lego NHL Hockey

Lego Hockey was part of the Lego Sports Range and was a very popular series but it only ran for 2 years and was discontinued in 2004. Kids and Adults were equally transfixed by translating the exciting world of Ice Hockey to the tabletop, this theme was also well served with various items from the Technics range to add realism and good gameplay to the series. You could replicate the real match atmosphere with Stadium, players and training kits.

Ebay is a great source for new and used Lego sets plus all these discontinued sets and they can be at extremely reasonable prices, Ebay also gives you a huge variety to choose from as well as allowing you to still find items that are no longer available

Puck Passer No. 3540

This set was released in 2003 and contained a "Technic" Hockey player with a stick, puck, and gear. This set contained 44 pieces.

This set included a sticker featuring the NHL Hockey logo which was placed on top of the puck and the Hockey player's pads. Somewhat surprisingly the Hockey Player has no arms and the stick is held in the middle of his body. Another strange attribute to this set is that the container can be used as a sports drink container and it has a special top.

Slap Shot No. 3541

This set was released in 2003 and contained a "Technic" Hockey player with a stick, puck, and gear. This set contained 45 pieces. The main difference between this and the other sets 3540 and 3542 being the colour and the size of the stick and the speed with which it can be fired.

The main difference between this and the other sets 3540 and 3546 being the colour and the angle and size of the stick which allows the puck to be flipped up when fired. This is probably the pick of the three kits for fun value.

Game Set No. 3544

This set was released in 2003 and included 2 hockey players and 2 goals. The set contained 144 pieces in total.

The players included in this set are basically the same as the ones in set no 3540 and the goals it must be said are flimsy at best.

I can't imagine that this was a big seller and there were probably a few disappointed kids at christmas.

Puck Feeder No. 3545

This set was released in 2003 and contained a goal, a player and puck-feeding ramp that the puck can roll down. This set contained 151 pieces.

This set was much better value than the game set No. 3544 as there were a few elements to the set and the puck feeder was an interesting piece of apparatus with a smart use of gears. The player included was the Slap shot player from set no. 3541.

Lego Blue Hockey Player with Goal No. 3557

This set was released in 2003 and contained the same players that were in 3557 and 3558 but this time without the goal. This set contained 41 pieces.

NHL Championship Challenge No. 3578

This set was released in 2004 and contained a full hockey rink with goals and 8 Hockey players. This set contained 374 pieces.

The players could be moved around on their movable bases in order to play the game by moving the poles attached to them from outside the rink abit like a foosball table. The players are not like the "Technic" Hockey players in earlier sets but are more static.

This game is now pretty hard to come by and is fairly rare but it is great fun to play and if you see it get it.

If one becomes available on Ebay it will appear on the right, it maybe the complete set or pieces from the set.

NHL Street Hockey No. 3579

This set was released in 2003 in conjunction with the NHL and conatained one Hockey player with a variety of different coloured shoulder pads and a sheet of stickers with the logos of the NHL teams. This way you could make your own personal NHL player. The set contained 57 pieces.

This set was much better value than some of the other sets available as it gave some autheticity to the Hockey player.

Slammer Stadium No. 65182

This set was released in 2003 and contained a plastic fold out "ice rink", 2 goals, 4 hockey players and a few sheets of stickers of the NHL teams. This set contained 146 pieces.

This set was basically a combination of set 3544 for the goals and a couple of sets of 10127 for the NHL players and so therefore represents fairly reasonable value.

The downside is the plastic rink that often becomes creased and has fold marks due to its fold-away nature.

Very interesting. I love Lego and had no idea that they did the hockey game in 2004 and quite surprised with the number of hockey fans why it was discontinued.
