Buy Lego Space Police

Updated on March 17, 2011

Lego Space Police is a Lego Space Theme that was produced in 1989 and ran for just the one year, two of the sets were re-released in 1991 and 1993 as Space Police II was released. The theme was the precursor to Space Police II and Space Police III.

In 1989, Lego made a storyline decision. Blacktron, which had previously neither been deemed 'good' or 'bad', were now declared the "bad guys" of Space and the Space Police; were tasked with the job of opposing them and defending the Futuron from them. The Space Police were a series of brave individuals whose spacecraft were black and blue with red transparent brick elements.

This theme is mainly aimed at Kids and who are fascinated by the ingenuity and variety of models that are available in the Space Police range. The whole theme is backed up with its own website Lego Space Police which includes games, movies and bios on the characters.

Ebay is a great source for new and used Lego sets and they can be at extremely reasonable prices, Ebay also gives you a huge variety to choose from as well as allowing you to still find items that are no longer available

SP-Striker No. 6781

The SP-Striker set was released in 1989 and features a Spacecraft, also included are 2 minifigures of a Space Police Officer and a Blacktron astronaut. The set contains 230 pieces.

The spaceship is one of the only ones to contain an electric light and sound system. It contains two rows of lights and the only light-up computer Lego ever released, a removable pod for transporting criminals and moveable lower wings, and an open or closing cockpit. The wings and battery pack can be removed as a single piece once two hinges are pushed down, allowing the battery to be replaced easily.

Mission Commander No. 6986

The Mission Commander set was released in 1989 and features a large Space Police Spaceship, also included are 3 minifigures of two Space Police Officers and a Blacktron astronaut. The set contains a satisfying 478 pieces.

The set contains a large Space Police ship, a small truck, two Space Police I jail cells and two small spacecrafts. The ship has a detachable aft section that houses the two jail cells. The two smaller one-seated spacecrafts are stored on the wings of their mothership.

Despite its enormous size, the spaceship offers little room inside since the center section houses a rack mechanism that opens the storage bay for the truck, which also doubles as the cockpit for the spaceship. When released the truck can be used to transport the jail cells.

Space Mini Figures No. 6704

The Space Mini Figures set was an extrfa set released in 1991 and features 6 minifigures of a Space Police Officer, 2 M-tron astronauts, 2 Blacktron II astronauts and one Blacktron astronaut. The set contains an additional 30 pieces.

The set also comes with enough accessories to equip all of the minifigures. The equipment includes a metal detector, a walkie-talkie, a loud hailer, gripper arm, a Blacktron II jet pack and an odd combination of a wrench and a jack hammer. One of the M-Tron astronauts wears an old jet pack piece instead of air tanks.

Space Police Team No. 9402

The Space Police Team set was an extra set released in 1993 and is extremely rare and not much is known about it. Although it seems to be a combination of the Spy-Trak 1 set and the Message Decoder set.

Although this set is very rare it does occasionally appear for sale on Ebay and if it does it will appear on the right and my suggestion would be to snap it up as it will be worth a motza.
