Mega Bloks Alien Agency

The Mega Bloks Alien Agency series was a small group of sets released in 2002 that was a connecting building block series of playsets. The Alien Agency series depicted a shadowy government agency protecting us from alien invaders which very closely resembles the Men In Black movies.

The Alien Agency Series allowed you to create your own Aliens using special Bioplasm, alien skeletons and creator moulds. You could also perform “experiments” on these aliens with food colouring and other ingredients. Each set also included a colour comic book that tells the Alien Agency story.

Mega Bloks is a Canadian Toy company that produces building blocks that are exactly similar to Lego they hold many licensing agreements to produce related items plus other sets. These sets are similar in design and size to Lego sets and make a good alternative to Lego sets for Christmas and Birthday presents particularly since many of the franchise lines are exclusive to Mega Bloks.

Much of this information is courtesy of the Mega Bloks Wiki at Blok City which covers all things Blokky and has loads of information about the Alien Agency Sets.

Some of these sets are still available in the shops and Amazon and they often come up on Ebay where they can be bought for very reasonable prices.

Freaky Fill-Up No. 5601

The Freaky Fill-Up set was released in 2002 and features the Arrival building of the Alien Agency which masquerades as a Gas Station. This set contains 95 pieces.

The set up of the Freaky Fill Up resembles the inside of the Men In Black headquarters with lots of colour panels, operation grids and planet tracking screens. The outside of the building looks like your average gas station complete with pumps, overhead lights and a cool motorcycle but the inside is the “Alien Agency”. There is a green see through panel on the front of the box which can be removed or left attached to the box and used to view the various aliens through.

My favourite part is the soda dispenser that doubles up as an alien chamber. One side looks like a coin operated machine whilst the other is clear. The flip top lid allows you to place an alien in it for safe keeping or for one of the agents to give them the once over to see if they are dangerous and need to be neutralized.

This set resembles a drive-in hamburger joint which when you turn it around and flip the roof turns into a secret alien lab. You also get a Big Hamburger on top of a pole that doubles as a satelite dish

This set again has the soda dispenser that doubles up as an alien chamber. One side looks like a coin operated machine whilst the other is clear. The flip top lid allows you to place an alien in it for safe keeping or for one of the agents to give them the once over to see if they are dangerous and need to be neutralized.

normal. Behind the factory lies a state-of-the-art laboratory where Alien Agencies conduct experiments on extraterrestrial life forms. The DNA Lab set comes with moulds and alien bioplasm so that you can create an alien creature of your own.
