MINICHAMPS® was founded as Paul's Model Art GmbH in 1990 in Germany and they produced their first diecast model in 1990. The company officially changed its name to Minichamps GmbH in 1996. The best example being the McLaren F1 GTR West Promotion model made by Minichamps as a promo for the West cigarette company and which often trades for well over $1000 on ebay. Another rare item produced by Minichamps was the Michael Schumacher Benetton B195 #17 which was recalled after an error was found: it has again been known to fetch over £1000.
Each year Minichamps produces the full range of Formula 1 racing cars in their correct livery and indivdually designed for bpth of the racing drivers in teh team. These Formula 1 series are eagerly anticipated by die-cast car enthusiast and older models fetch high prices on Ebay.
