Call of Duty Black Ops 2 How to Improve your Kill to Death K/D Ratio ( BO2 )

Intro

In this guide I will talk about ways that you can raise that ever so important kill to death ratio..I will talk about strategies, game types and weapons to use to raise this level.

What is a K/D ratio

A kill to death ratio refers to the amount of times you die, to the amount of kills you get. This is not necessarily important, but to some it is. Keep in mind that this number can be reset, and that the only ones who may care about this, are those talking trash, or those who have a requirement to enter a clan. This is also the basis for many of the campers in Call of Duty trying to build this number overall.

Game type

Okay, so you can plenty any game type and raise your K/D but there are some that will greatly help this number. First and foremost..

Kill based game modes. These are your team deathmatch, kill confirmed, and free for all. Obviously you can play any of these game modes and still be able to raise that ever so important number. The trick to this should be that you obviously are going to focus more on kills, therefore these game modes can help you. The only down side is that the enemy is going to be equally focusing on coming after you. Therefore sometimes the best trick for you is to camp somewhere on these game modes and wait for the enemy come to you. Remember that this is a kill based game mode therefore there is no shame in camping.

If you are going to play objective based games then obviously you can help your team out and still get a good K/D ratio. This for instance would be camping enemy objectives, camping the objective, and focusing on preventing the enemy from getting to were they need to be. Also if you have a group of people you can easily go forward and camp the spawns once you have the lead, and this will make things much easier for you. Overall when you are going to play you need to focus on kills if your trying to bring your K/D up. Objective based games are the easiest way to get lots of kills and little deaths because typically people are running around with their heads cut off trying to find the objective, and a good player can easily pick these players off. You should have no trouble being able to infiltrate a spawn, or an enemy base and take out plenty of the enemy and continue to keep a good K/D ratio.

Weapons.

When choosing the right weapon, this will fall on your strategy and game type. If you are looking at deathmatch type games then i would suggest a light machine gun, assault rifle, or sniper rifle. These will allow you to post up places, and slowly take the enemy out one person at a time, and be able to kill the enemy time and time again. This is a sure fire way for you to kill the enemy, and stay ahead in the game. These weapons will give you a boost in kill based games, and will help you in the long run. You can also use a light machine gun for these game modes which will be extremely effective if you learn to use it correctly. These can pack a great punch while allowing you to survive for long periods without reloading.

If you are going to play objective based games... Then you should focus on the opposite. Remember you are going to be in the enemy spawn most likely, and will probably be focusing on close quarter combat. This leaves the best option for weapons to be shotguns, assault rifles, and Small machine guns.. These will give big firepower as well as being able to be used for close quarter situations.. You can also use a light machine gun here but the mobility is limited which is why I suggest against it.

Kill Streaks

Usually in my guides i say keep it simple, but since you are focusing on staying alive to build your K/D ratio you can do 1 of two things. Pray for something good in a care package which will help your K/D, or you can go for those golden kill streaks and they will boost that K/D.. Either way it will take some effort, and will take time. But the kill streaks in this game are provided to get you more kills, and all are equally good. Therefore when you focus on getting kills using better kill streaks will only get you that many more kills. This is a great way for you to progress through the game, and to win.

Usually my setup includes care package/lightning strike.. Stealth chopper, then VTOL Warship. I think these are the best scorestreaks to use,and in my opinion the most effective. i think these are your best option if you are trying to get the most kills. Keep in mind sometimes you might have a hard time getting enough kills to get those kill streaks, and some can be changed. None the less score streaks I don't use so much to get my other score streaks, but use them to get extra kills to help boost my Kill to death ratio. I think that is what you are looking for in this guide, so that is the best way for you to increase that statistic.

Why it Doesn't matter

The number one reason why this stat doesn't matter in the beginning or until you reach 10th prestige is simply because every prestige you have the option to reset this statistic. So to be honest, it doesn't make a lot of sense to worry about this in the beginning because you can fix this at any point in time. Therefore you will want to start focusing more on just prestiging up therefore in the end you can simply hit the reset button on the stats and be all set. So while this is an important number to some especially for clans, don't put all your focus on this number because it can easily be fixed later on.

Summary

So overall remember that at any time you can fix that ever so important number. So don't focus on this early on when it is not so important. In the end it can always be fixed and reset, so just have fun until you hit 10th prestige. It is not an important statistic, and my tips will help you more at 10th prestige when you cannot build that number any higher. Thanks for reading..

Good article John. I'd that the UAV, Hunter killer, and CUAV, would be more effective for a player trying to increase their KD. I would assume that if a player is trying to raise their KD then it must below average, that being the case the player is unlikely to get a stealth chopper, nuch less a VTOL warship.

I agree that KD doesn't matter much...maybe in Team Deathmatch or Free for All.

Yeah KDs don't matter, and really aren't accurate. I'm getting so much better at this game and going positive almost every match, but my K/D id only like, 0.85 or something from where i really sucked at the game when i first started playing it.

Yes I still stick with the fact K/D is not important although some clans require some sort of requirement, even though mine doesn't. I think it more falls on the players ability or lack of ability to communicate, and get the job done.

KD is really only important in FFA or Team Deathmatch. However a teammate going 4-20 does nothing but feed an enemy score streaks, so in a way KD can still be important object modes like Domination.

Yes I agree 100% a teammate going 4-20 is feeding the other team.. At the same time, I believe if you have a good enough team, you can usually counter that, and help your teammate out.

I think the relevance of a kill-death ratio as a is really dependent on play style. If you camp in a little dark corner, your K/D doesn't really matter because it takes NO SKILL. Having a K/D above 1.0 when you play almost exclusively with an assault shield just means you are ABSURDLY good with it (as long as you use it like a primary, not as planted cover or a turtle shell). So, going by this sort of 'gauge,' it would be more appropriate to look at SPM and KDR at the same time.

...Thinking about it, I really don't know why I'm posting this on this particular page... XD

Totally inaccurate. You CANNOT reset just your stats. When you do a fresh start EVERYTHING gets reset. You start at prestige 1 level 1.

@Wraith.. Now that I have been playing for 13 days of gameplay, I think K/D is not important and I rely more on the player.. Its the same with my team.. I say to every player who applies.. I don't care what your K/D is, or your SPM I care about the players communication skills, and ability to understand what is going on within the game and play as a team.. The stats don't prove anything anymore.

Wraith 3 years ago

All too true about the stats. . . and the communication thing is really a part of play style (if you think about it). A few of the friends I play with regularly don't do callouts and the like very often (since they are usually good enough to handle it), but when they do make a callout, they are usually very easy to understand.

That's what is truly most important to me as far as playing, is that someone has the ability to communicate and help the team.

smg is SUB machine gun, no offence.

Wraith 3 years ago

Uhh... Anthony, it's not "how many more matches," it's a lot more "how many kills do I need to get each life." And we can't figure that out without knowing how many kills you've gotten, how many times you've died, and, in the individual case of your question, how many kills you average per match.

Yah I agree with wraith.. NOT to mention, it all depends on the amount of kills you have.. For instance, if you have 50,000 kills you will need a LOT more positive games than if you have 500 total kills..

If your like me and have 23,000 kills you're screwed

I have about 11,000 kills and by following this it went up 0.01 once every few days. so it slowly went from 0.92, to 0.93, and so on. unfortunately i stopped focusing on my k/d and it slipped down to 0.94 and it stayed there, so... haha

Haha, yes it is all based on the amount of kills.. Before I reset I was around 38,000 kills... Now in the last 4 weeks I already have about 16,000 kills again so my stuff is hard to move once again..

Kd kind of does matter...... I never see people that have under a 2 kd beating people like me. I have a 4.58 kd and a 3.24 w/l . I play domination and i always play obj and I never camp whick is why my spm is 533

Yah, I hear ya... I just feel SPM is significantly more important.. I enjoy joining games in progress, dominating a team in hardcore domination, listening to the people complain, and letting them know I have a 581 spm... And watching them slowly back out.
