Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 - League Play is broken!

Call of Duty: Black Ops II
Call of Duty: Black Ops II

Call of Duty for Me

I have been playing video games for a long time, but on consoles, my foray into the world of First Person Shooters is fairly new. I just picked up my XBox 360 a year ago, and I got into shooters almost exclusively because a friend of mine recommended it.

Now, I am not a particularly rich man, so I pick a game and I tend to stick with it for a while. I have played the Call of Duty series, so after completing the story of Modern Warfare 3, I was excited to hear about the new features that were coming up in Black Ops 2. Instead of getting into games with outrageously amazing players all of the time, I would have the option of going into League Play which would put me into matches with people of equal skill!

Since I am not that good, as yet, this seemed like a way to make my gaming experience fun again. I'd had fun getting into matches with my buds, but as they grew tired of the game and started playing other things, I tended to get into public matches where I was again destroyed by those who had been playing much longer and were much better.

The Goal of Black Ops 2 League Play

The actual goal of League Play as it relates to the company who created the game was more likely to fully enrich the Major League Gaming experience and ensure that this game could garner a following that could be monetized. The more people who played and were working towards getting into professional gaming, the more the game would get focus, and the more units they would sell.

Of course, the selling point wasn't so much about pro gaming as it was about getting players to play on equal footing. That was what drew me to the League Play options in Black Ops 2. Finally, I could figure out what my skill level was purported to be, and then play against people of my own level so that games could be fun, exciting and thrilling to play!

In my first season of play, that was pretty much what happened, that I could see. Most matches were equal affairs, and I had great fun, regardless of the fact that I was in the second-lowest tier that exists in League Play. I was in matches that mattered towards my ladder ranking, and although I only got to Rank 30 in the Bronze division, I was quite proud of that achievement, seeing as I had only learned to use a controller (over the mouse and keyboard I'd been using the previous 15+ years) to play an FPS just under a year previous.

So why do I say Black Ops 2 League Play is broken?

It's actually quite simple. After that first season, I started to pay more attention to some of the numbers I was seeing. I also started to take my ranking a little more seriously and tried a little harder. I don't play Champions as I am not very good at those game types yet, but I play Team Deathmatch almost exclusively on both Public and League Play. I had been making great strides at improving my game by watching others' gameplays, and then trying different weapon and tactics combinations in order to become a better overall player. I was pretty sure this would also translate into my League Play games.

It did not!

I started to see that, not only would I end up in games with much higher ranked players (who would then lay the smack down on me and my team of random players - I was playing Solo), I would also end up in games where many of my team would simply leave the game. Instead of leaving with them and saving myself the embarrassment of such a horrid defeat (sometimes being overwhelmed by more than 40 difference in score - which is significant in a game that only goes to 75) I would stay in the game to the bitter end. It ends with the same result whether you stay or leave, but I was not going to abandon those who were in the game with me as these others had done.

That was when I started really thinking about it: what did I gain by staying in? In Public matches, you get a bonus 250 XP for staying to the end of the match. But in League Play, you don't get new score streaks, you don't get badges, you don't get any differing amount of XP (it's a set 10,000 for a win, and 7,500 for a loss towards your public ranking), and you get no reward for staying to the end. So why did I do it? There were so many games where I had been left in a 3v6 or 4v6 match where we were destroyed. And staying did nothing but make me angrier that I was going to lose ladder points in spite of my well-played match!

So, I could have been the absolute best player between both teams with a 3.00 Kill-Death-Ratio, but I would gain no favour for it. I would get no bonuses for my great play! I would get not even recognition of a match played well.

Instead, I lose ladder points, end up with a lower ranking, and all because people left the match and left the team I was on in a losing position. It didn't seem fair that this could be, but the more I looked at it, and the more I examined things, I realized, this was the case! League Play was broken, and what I had thought would make me love to play First Person Shooters again, made me angry and not want to play anymore

Video highlight of me doing well, and losing to get nothing (level 55 Prestige 4).

What can be done to fix it?

Right now, the professional gaming community is only really concerned with the Champions League which focuses on objective play as opposed to team deathmatch style play. If you play Solo in the Champions League, you are, of course, still subject to the same problems - I tried it and found it was even more frustrating to try to play a game of 2 on 4 Domination on Hijacked where the other team just spawn camps you at one end of the boat for the whole game. So I see no hope and no way to fix the gameplay as it is.

However, some things that might work would be:

  • Set it up more like the Public matches so that people can jump in and out at will and the teams can remain full to keep things even (not the best option);
  • Don't allow people to jump out of the game unless something big like a power outage happens (hard to really police that);
  • Make penalties for leaving multiple matches in League Play, like you can't rejoin League Play for 48 hours, or until the next season begins (there are some penalties, but at this time they are basically pointless);
  • Create some sort of reward system for playing based on your gameplay, as opposed to simply your team's performance.

Any or all of these could certainly change the League gameplay in such a way as to make it more viable and more interesting to the gaming public at large. Right now, broken as it is, it is no wonder that there are barely any people playing it, and until it is fixed, I don't foresee a change.

Do you have anything to say about Call of Duty: Black Ops 2s League Play? I'd love to hear it!

I don't think it's that league play is broken, its there aren't enough players who play league. I've never seen more than 4,000 at a time. when the population is so small matchmaking is going to be terrible. Especially when compared to the total population of 350,000 that's on at any given time BOII wide.

Thanks for the comment, Sam. Unfortunately, I think the number of players is indicative of the fact that it is not a compelling mode to play. I have never seen more than 2700 at one time, but I often see considerably more than 50,000 in Public Team Deathmatch alone. I think that speaks volumes to how League Play is not a success at all, and may indeed be broken and in need of fixing!

Random 3 years ago

for staying in the game till the end, you gain 7500 if you lose.

quitting would also count as loss but with no 7500 exp

also its better to level up in league play than normal. because averagely you'd get in any kind of game, 7500exp win or lose.

and you'd have to do real good in order to get 10k+ exp

that's why i always ask myself why ppl don't play league play instead of public play

SlydeDraco profile image

SlydeDraco 3 years ago from Kanata, ON Author

That's true, Random, you get those points. But once you hit level 55, if you choose not to prestige, that 7500 or 10,000 points does you no good. There need to be more compelling and tangible rewards for League Play to be more enticing to those that don't use it.

AzzAmin 3 years ago

its broken i do good every game and my team just does shit. Making me lose ladder points that aint even my fault for losing them. a gold and unplaced ranked players vs 2 masters and 3 platinums is highly unfair.

SlydeDraco profile image

SlydeDraco 3 years ago from Kanata, ON Author

That is unfair, AzzAmin, for sure, and I have run into similar situations. I don't always lose, but I find that when I have a good game myself but still lose, that's when it feels the worst!

Mike 3 years ago

I personally only play Champ series. I don't think its broken as you typically get your better players playing League Play. I would always go in with 2 friends if you want solo rank or go in as a complete team. you don't risk people leaving.

wesleeh 3 years ago

its not really unfair.. trust me.. why? i know a player who is bronze number 1 and he is owning evey master prestige.. its because you just have to play good and the best is playing with at least 3 ppl in a lobby for solo rank and have good communication.

SlydeDraco profile image

SlydeDraco 3 years ago from Kanata, ON Author

Fair enough, wesleeh, but if your friend is bronze and beasting Master ranked players consistently, he is in the wrong tier. Another sign of it being broken. And if he is up against a good team, does well and still loses, what does he gain from it? What reward? Or does he simply lose ladder points in spite of a game well played? These are the things that indicate an unbalanced mode, to me.

Zonda 3 years ago

League play is not broken at all. I recommend playing champion if you are at that lvl yet. It's just like gb. You don't have to deal with people using over powered stuff. Like c4, rocker launchers, score streaks and perks. Also you should never do league solo with out other people. That way they don't quit out. I have about 10 wins and 0 losses. I just stared league the other day. I'm currently in gold, started off on silver. And if you team leaves or lags out its your job to win it. That's how gb truly is. Just keep playing and you will get better. I have beaten a couple of masters as well. It doesn't matter what rank you beat, if you beat a team full of masters your not instantly going rank up to masters. Nor will you get extra ladder points.

SlydeDraco profile image

SlydeDraco 3 years ago from Kanata, ON Author

Thanks for the comment, Zonda! While I agree that playing with a team would prevent some of those things from happening, that doesn't help those who want to play solo. I believe that scorestreaks and perks are available in Champions league, so if you meant that they aren't available in GameBattles, it once again doesn't help those playing through the League directly. And for those playing directly in the League and playing solo, even if they have a fantastic game, if they lose the match, they get no extra points or recognition of their achievement - just lost ladder points. It may not be broken if it is done through the GameBattles system, but as it was created in the game, and as it is maintained there, I still feel it is in need of some changes to make it fun and compelling to play for everyone!

DonKarleone 3 years ago

It can be really frustrating and Im starting to get a bit pissed off. Im gold now and have moved up the ladder pretty fast,as only just started. But when you run out of your daily bonus it is pointless playing solo really. Because if my team wins I tend to get +10 ladder points and when I loose, while almost always being the best player on my team of either drop outs or people that are so bad they just shouldn't be playing I loose 150 ladder points. I was rank 15 in gold, won 6 games lost 2 and walked away with a net -260 ladder points and went to rank 48. grrrr lol

SlydeDraco profile image

SlydeDraco 3 years ago from Kanata, ON Author

And that, DonKorleone, is exactly what I am talking about! Thanks for the comment!

DonKarleone88 3 years ago

No worries. Btw if anyone wants to add me to improve our chances in a group go ahead. DonKarleone88

Zonda 3 years ago

I meant over powered perks like awearness. League play was made for gb players. It was for people who don't have the time to actually go on the gb site and set up matches. It's competitive call of duty and that's how it should stay. In gb there's ladders, ranks, and divisons. If you loose you lose ladder points and find yourself down the leader boards. I'm currently ranked in platinum 41. Trying to get masters. I really think nothing should Change besides the ban of target finders and millimeter scanners. Those two attchments should really be taken out.

Wheres My Camo 3 years ago

Im sorry but League Play is not broken at all.. If your so good carrying everyone on TDM then go to Champions where its more like gb, I went to PS3 for a Year then went back to Xbox so I started in Iron [Instead of Master Which I was before I left] Now Im back in Master in 1 Season, the only thing bad about League Play is that some weapons such as the Kap-40.. If you go against people HIGHER then you YOU WIN MORE POINTS go against LOWER then you WIN LESS POINTS.

SlydeDraco profile image

SlydeDraco 3 years ago from Kanata, ON Author

Thanks for the comment, Where's My Camo. I agree that you will get more points if you win against higher players, but I think you missed the point of the hub. You get no benefit for playing well and losing. You can be the best between both teams, but if you lose because your team leaves you hanging, you play well for nothing! You get nothing! You get shafted!

I'm glad to hear that you have improved your standing so much, but did you end up in any games where your team left you hanging out to dry? There is a problem there, and the fact that you can play well and get no reward for your good play just makes it lose it's luster pretty quickly.

Nickelinho 3 years ago

League play is not broken...

It is true That when you play alone there is a chance of getting into a crappy team.

Best way to avoid That is to play with 2 good players, if you are not willing then accept it depends on luck(getting a good team).

Furthermore leaugue play is only based on win/loss (That is rather flawed but Hey shit happens). And last but not least if you win against good players you are more likely to get +150/+130 etc then when you win against bad players(+10/+30) i started playing last week in bronze division and ended the season Platinum rank 1.

I did this by playing with 2 friends and trying weapons until i found

The right one ( in my case the FAL OSW) just keep playing and keep improving and you Will see it is not broken ;)

Aaron 3 years ago

Really, they need to setup a mercenary league play. The reason why the game sets up teams so unevenly sometimes is b/c people are still playing with friends that aren't likely to leave. A group of friends communicating with 9 times out of 10 beat a group of randoms. League play has always done a terrible job of setting up fair teams. To really make it fair you should divide up the teams based on skill and break up any party members if needs be.

Like stated previously, you can have a team full of masters with a gold player vs a team of non ranked and 1 platinum b/c one team is made up of friends in a party. That is not a system that is working properly and is lopsided as hell.

League play may not be "broken" but it is quite a piece of shit way of determining if a single person is better than another.

if you're like me and can not get to your skill level with a mouse and keyboard setup i suggest you get a XIM adapter

www.xim3.com

its $90, it works amazing... mouse movement is 1-1 the whole keyboard (except the number pad) is programmable, mouse sensitivity can be adjusted from the really low end to the really high end, hip fire and ADS sensitivity can be adjusted independently

started in silver, got promoted to gold soon after i got it and promoted again to platinum last night

League play is broken on all fronts. I play COD now for 7 years online on XBox 360 and have more then 600000 kills till now. I prefer to play solo on League Play and i can't get higher then Bronze, while almost every game i am MVP. Mostly i end up with 2 players against 4 and i loose. I really do my best to win (see my stats on all COD's) and my SPM on BO2 is 555. It's impossible to get Platinum or Master if you are playing solo. They should make Mercenary Leagie Play, indeed. P.S. I always play with GB weapons and perks since COD4, no matter which gametype. League play is broken on all fronts, that's why that few people is playing it.

Some facts 3 years ago

1. I was winning, host migration showed up and lost 150 points because there wasn't a good host available.

2. Connection interrupted shows up and you will also lose points.

3. You better play with some good friends who won't make you lose.

4. Sometimes at the beginning of the match you could see easily what team is better and going to win. Most of the time when I see my team is better, they leave before the match starts.

5. I also don't get the system that gives you your points, when i win, i'll get +10 when i lose it's -150. I don't get that, might be because i'm in the Master League?

Some Guy 3 years ago

"Don't allow people to jump out of the game unless something big like a power outage happens (hard to really police that);"

This isn't actually that hard. The key to focus on here is the process by which the server is notified of the outcome. The server has limited knowledge of why the session ended, but the client has very good knowledge of it.

The client will be aware of times where the player closes the connection manually. At the time of the next connection or game search the client could update the server with whatever game history it has on hand that hasn't been updated yet.

Power outages and players pulling the plug might not be directly traceable, but the client might still be able to measure the activity. If the client adds sessions to a recent history log as they are created, sessions that were ended under normal circumstances can have a disposition assigned to them indicating the reason why. For example: victory, loss, left early, etc. Pulling the plug on an Xbox to leave a game early leaves the log entry without a disposition. It is highly likely that any player that has a large number of unknown session terminations is abusing the game logic and subject to penalty. The likelihood of this is so high that it warrants automatic penalty that is only undone by petition and review of a black ops moderator.

Haha 3 years ago

I thought it was broken too till i found out that winning or losing isn't all its about, if you lose but always have the best score every match and are skilled, the system will notice that and promote you, regardless of your position in the ranks. I got put into bronze, i got so high scores compared to everyone but my team was so bad i lost, but it still promoted me. btw im in masters now and if you are good you can carry your team a lot of the time but sometimes it is just hopeless but if you are good you will get promoted, its not all about wins its about your own skill

It's broken 3 years ago

I have found myself getting placed against ridiculous masters and my team has masters who do worst than me and get carried, btw if I'm solo I don't wanna play against parties, and why am I stuck in platinum top 25-10 players? I've been winning countlessly, only losing S&D games and games where I'm down one or more players, still no promotion, and when I lose a 3v4 I lose 150 ladder points, also sometimes my team is a bunch of morons causing me a 4v3 defeat, the system should recognize if my team is doing bad because if they are then the enemy gets streaks and I won't be doing that well, I know it's about skill but if I'm playing the objective and getting it done then the system should recognize that not just take a look at my SPM or KD, take a closer look at what my team is doing.

Syn Ben 3 years ago

I totally agree with the fact that losing ladder points is a disgrace when you're down in numbers. I personally think if you leave a game you should be demoted into the league below or even lose 750 or something. I'm sure a larger punishment than 5 minutes of probation will stop people leaving all of the time.

Another thing is the matchmaking system and how the points are distributed. They say that they try to put you against someone that is also at your own skill level. Well I finished this season comfortably in Master's Rank 1. On many occasions I would be in a party of 3 players (all also top 20 in masters) and we would be placed against teams consisting of a mix of Bronze and Iron ranked players. Usually they would all leave whilst the game was loading and there would be 1 player left who would also eventually leave as it was impossible for him to do anything at all. I was finding myself getting 0 kills and doing no objective work and still receiving 150 ladder points for playing against people in lower leagues yet only receiving 10 points for beating a full master rank team where I was getting 40+ kills in Hardpoint. I love playing league play but I do agree that there are aspects of it that should have been fixed a long time ago.

That is not even relatively close to the "purpose" of the league play feature. League play is a series for people and teams that are good and try to get better, practicing for tournaments and LANs and etc.

SlydeDraco profile image

SlydeDraco 3 years ago from Kanata, ON Author

Matt Haag - While I agree that it could be, I would argue that League Play is where people go to prove their ability, not to practice it. That is why the top teams and individuals of the Master's League were chosen for specific tournaments. If it was only to practice, why were they the only ones chosen?

Public Matches are where you practice. League is where you are supposed to prove your ability. Instead it is a place to be left alone to be destroyed by an opposing team. There should not be a solo league if you are going to be punished by the cowardice of your team mates... If you are in a voluntary team in a league and you do badly, you live or die as a team. Solo, you get matched with whomever is available, and when you get destroyed, you are told to live with it. Great reward system!

Porky 3 years ago

hi I found this while looking for league info and i noticed you may not have noticed that when you lose you might lose like 70 or so points but if you quit out of the game no matter if you are winning or losing you will always lose 150 for "abandoning your team" which is the only reason i will ever stay in a game that i am getting destroyed even if i am the last one in the game.

p.s. sorry for all the grammar errors i am typing in haste.

A Wet Cookie 3 years ago

I was playing Black ops 2 and I won 4/5 of my games. I lost because my partner's kept leaving. And the League Play System gave me ''Bronze'' Division. Can someone tell me why it did that ? This All happened Today @ 9/4/2013

SlydeDraco profile image

SlydeDraco 3 years ago from Kanata, ON Author

Hi Wet Cookie - I am not 100% certain of the formula used to determine your placement or division, but I gather it has something to do with your Score Per Minute, whether you win or lose, etc. If you won 4/5 but were only getting about 150 SPM, you wouldn't get placed as high as someone who had 300 SPM but lost all of their matches. Now, that may not be entirely true, but I would think that it is not only your wins to losses but your personal performance as well that goes into determining your division.

A Wet Taco 3 years ago

I like black ops 2 a lot. But matchmaking sucks

oh dear 3 years ago

I am currently in a 4-way battle for the master rank 1 slot on championship, I would suggest, like me, you play with 2 teammates because I can rely on them not to quit out and lose me tough games! -I agree with slyde, league play has awfully poor moments , for example -playing hardpoint on raid, my team winning considerably after 2 of their team quit, I have full streaks and happily seeing out the remainder 60seconds of the game.... suddenly I get lagged to menu because I 'lost connection to host' (player on other team pulled his connection) ,this not only lost me my 7win streak and 150 ladder points BUT also ended up putting me on probation!! what a joke!

SlydeDraco profile image

SlydeDraco 3 years ago from Kanata, ON Author

Hey oh dear - thanks for the read and comment. I do need to get in with a good group. All my buddies who played MW3 stopped playing, so I need to find a good team.

Oddly - and this is either further proof of how badly it's broken, or I suddenly broke out of my tier and skilled up like crazy; I am betting on the former - after a personal best 17 in Bronze, I started the current season in Silver (Moshpit series) and somehow tier jumped to Gold this past weekend. I am still shaking my head... It's just a dream!

Nate 3 years ago

Jesus Christ, I was just in a match on League and practically all three of my teammates decided to tread around the map and piss about, jumping off ledges.

Some people should truly just not be allowed to play League, honestly.

I find League to be broken just by how unfair it is and how much it relies on connection. I'm so sick of these poor people joining games and their connection being too crap to stay in, so it leaves the team either 4v3 or 4v2, and then you get the penalty for it like it was YOUR fault.

SlydeDraco profile image

SlydeDraco 3 years ago from Kanata, ON Author

Thanks for your input, Nate. I totally agree, that's what has been wrong with League play all along. Too bad Treyarch hasn't figured it out like the rest of the world!

TheOnlineGamer 3 years ago

Ok guys,

I have been playing league play for 7 seasons now (mainly the championship series) and honestly I am outragously pissed at Treyarch for not fixing League play. I play solo because my friends all have a ps3 or play battlefield so I am playing on my own and I am pretty much in the hands of the people who team up with me in the 4v4. Even if I go 42 and 18 and the rest of the team is shit or one ragequitted I get -15o oftentimes which is really just not understandable for me. I am currently in the masters division rank 16 which is pretty good but even though I get matched up with bronze/silver players because of the extremely bad matchmaking. It says on the league play description, that league play is designed to get yourself matched up with people with equal skill. That is SO and I repeat SO untrue. How is it possible that im playing with bronze people with a .8 ratio against people with a 3.5 kd who are in a team and can communicate. So this is all really shitty but that's not what is pissing me off the most. What is pissing me off the most are all the FUCKIN RAGEQUITTERS. To all the people who just quit while in the loading screen cause they saw that the enemy team could be better than their team you are fuckin pussies. When you have a 3v4 situation it is nearly impossible to win because the enemy team has a huge advantage. I honestly quit sometimes when I see that the enemy team is a mlg pro team and I am playing with some randoms but I don´t do it in the loading screen or ingame because if you quit while in the lobby the game won´t start because one player is missing so it has no effect on my teammates or myself. Every second game I finish either my team or the enemy team has only 2 or 3 players and this makes me very very very sad. How come that the only thing you get for quitting ingame is a 5 minute penalty huh ? That is like nothing so quitters don´t give a shit when they quit. What treyarch should no HAS to do to fix league play is:

1. After the timer from the lobby went to 0 if somebody dashboards, quits, turns off the console or turns off the internet they get -250 points immediately.

2. You can rejoin the game. For example if you accidentally shut down your xbox or if you lag out or something you can rejoin and you won´t get the penalty.

3. If you are on the team that won you can´t loose ladder points. You can gain ladder points in a range from 10 to 150 points based on your skill. (Skill= Score per minute.K/D as well as longest time alive) (The longest time alive is important because if you play the anchor you won´t have a high score per minute and you have to be rewarded somehow for being the anchor because you are the most valuable player in hardpoint/(Capture the flag)

4. If you are on the team that lost and you are the:

First player you will not loose ladder points and you can gain up to 30 so the range would be 0-(+30) points).

Second player: Based on your skill (see paragraph above) you will get -50-(0) ladder points

Third and fourth player: -150(-50) based on your skill level

5. Make the match up fairer: Players can only play with players who are in there league. For example a master would only play with masters and so on. This would prevent matches where bronze division people play against a mlg pro master team.

Well this is my opinion on league play. Let me know what you guys think about what I wrote and comment on my suggestions.

SlydeDraco profile image

SlydeDraco 3 years ago from Kanata, ON Author

Hey OnlineGamer - great points, and I totally agree with you. The matching system makes no sense I often have ended up in games with golds, platinums and masters when I was in bronze and iron. I still didn't quit out because I would learn something from the match, but most often, I learned that you get shafted no matter how well you play. When playing solo, the whole thing should have been reworked and been based on your play, not the team play. When you are on a team in a team based match, you should live or die by the team's play.

I like some of your ideas for scoring based on how well you did on your team. As for making the matching system more fair, I have never seen more than about 3000 people MAX in league play, so I think they abandonned the entire idea of matching to equal skill and just threw everyone in a random mashup of randomly generated randomness and said "fuck it!"

The whole league play system was a hardcore fail in my opinion. I am looking forward to the clan v. clan matchups coming in Ghosts... now I just need an active clan to join!

Nate 3 years ago

League play does take into account your own individual skill. You can get ranked up divisions even after losing games. If anything, you're league is probably higher than your actual skill. Just make friends in your matches and start playing with them.

ForcesNL 3 years ago

Lately a lot of connection interupting issues in league matches. It is not the host, definatly not. Because all the pings were never higher than 25. As soon as a new round starts it is fixed all of a sudden. It is a big issue.

Just be happy you get put in matches with people of your skill. I go to public or league I get destroyed.

SlydeDraco profile image

SlydeDraco 2 years ago from Kanata, ON Author

Hi "hi" - I wish that was always the case. Often, I was in matches with golds and platinums when I was iron... It was MAYBE half the time I ended up in a fair fight with equal level players.

Louie - I wish I knew what to tell you. This just further proves how broken the league play is. I quit playing BlOps2 quite a while ago - even sold my copy along with a bunch of other games to get Diablo 3 for the XBox 360 - simply because I lost the interest in the game after all of the promises of equal skill play being completely quashed. I look forward to the next CoD - the teaser trailer that came out last week looked quite good - but I will be waiting to see how it actually plays before I get it.

If you keep playing people don't back out nearly as much when you get into platinum and masters

I'm just tired of all the people dropping out after the map's locked Ina and you can't get into a game

My problem is that whenever I WIN a match of league play in Champions Series, as usual, it tells me +10, +30, +150, etc. but for me, it tells me + however any points I get. Then I look on my ladder and I'm losing points. Losing points for winning?? What kind of crap is this..? As I'm winning games, my rank gets worse and worse..

My main issue with League Play is the fact that I have to wait almost 30 minutes just to find a damn match. Either the lobby search just cancels itself, kicks someone from the lobby when it's full as if they timed out, does that to me, someone sees a player and yells "OH NO THEY'RE TOO GOOD" and leaves via dashboard/XMB/turning off the system whatever. And then you've got people who cheat without any repercussions. The way cheaters are dealt with honestly sickens me, in the gaming community in it's entirety.

Also the leaderboards and skill levels truly are broken. People who are placed into Iron and Bronze often don't deserve to be there and are actually much better. The way the system ranks you is a load of crap, it's all based upon luck. Good players can just have an unlucky hard time and be placed in Bronze or something. I lost a few of my placement matches and ended up in Platinum, and ranked my way into Master (I don't even know how, I won like two games after my placement and there I was.)

Hi Nate - thanks for the comment. Yes, I agree, all of those items are among the many reasons I stopped playing League Play a long time ago. I would play really well, then do my placement games and suddenly I couldn't hit anything and end up in Iron. Next thing, I would play a bunch of mediocre games and I was in Gold division? None of the scoring or anything made sense. The matchmaking was horrendous when it worked, and yes, many hours were spent reading a book while I waited for the match to actually connect and start.

Don't even get me started on cheaters... :-\ I once worked in a pharmacy, and one of the pharmacists was an older gentleman by the name of Mr. Barber. Wonderful, kind, soft-spoken man. But when talking about cheaters, he proclaimed: "Cheaters should be sat down naked on a stump and nailed to it by the pills (he meant testicles). Then push him over, backwards." =-O

Hopefully if the newest incarnation of CoD goes eSports, they will fix all of these issues so that what should have been a fun and competitive mode will actually be fun and competitive.

I completely agree with you. The system is totally broken. The matches aren't even as far as skill level and my team pretty much always leaves the match. It is very unfair that they only rank you based on the performance of your team and not on your personal skill.

My problem is when me and my team won 5 matches (and we all did possitive) we got place in iron division. We were supposed to be in Master division!Like we win the game, but the stupid game thinks we lost. And we also won a lot because we destroyed people on snd to 6-0 , hp to 250-22 and ctf 5-0,this is the that needs to be fix more than these other glitches. *Please Read*

So I jumped back into league after taking a few years off. I remember why I quit. The league play is very flawed and you made some good points on how to fix it. They should definitely base it on personal performance and team results. So if you do lose and kicked ass you still get rewarded. And for those who leave... shame... shame on you...if your gunnar leave a match earlier cause your getting your ass kicked go play public and stay out of league...
