Cornhole Rules

The rules of Cornhole are remarkably simple; however, for the official rules (and for those who must be absolute) you should really check with the American Cornhole Association

Basically, the game is played much like horseshoes and other outdoor games, where two teams of two people line up so that the each teammate stands by one of the two Cornhole boards.  The two opposing players on one side take turns pitching their Cornhole bags across the court to the other Cornhole board.  If a player makes a Cornhole bag into the hole then it's three points, if it merely lands on the board then it is one point and if it doesn't stay on the Cornhole board.  After all the bags have been thrown the difference between the two teams gets scored and the other two players take their turn.  The game goes up to 21 with the team that went last finishing the "inning".

Cornhole Boards

People love to play Cornhole and a major part of that are the Cornhole Boards. Nevermind that it's super easy to make Cornhole boards or that they're super easy to fold up making them extra portable. Most people love the Cornhole boards because they can plaster whatever logo they want on their set. Your favorite NCAA team's logo on a Cornhole board makes for a great alumni game or to take out to the tailgating party. Same for any of the NFL Cornhole boards out there. But because Cornhole is so versatile and it played at basically any outdoor party you'll see all sorts of different themed boards: Military Cornhole Boards (with Marines, Air Force, Army logos or just regular camouflage), Firefighters seem to have a lot of time on their hands so there tends to be a lot of firefighting themed Cornhole boards. No matter what your heritage, chances are there's a board for you. For example you can show off your Irish pride by getting some Irish Cornhole boards, or perhaps one with the British or Italian flag. You can show your patriotism by buying a set of American Flag cornhole board (which are tough to play on by the way) or your redneck side by getting the Confederate Flag boards. And that's just the start. A quick look over to a website like Amazon you can check out a huge selection of Cornhole boards.

Custom Cornhole Boards

And if you still haven't found what you need, there's always the option of getting some custom Cornhole boards made. There are number of companies online that will work with you and your design to specially make a custom Cornhole game set with matching Cornhole bags as well. This will cost a little bit more because of the extra labor involved but nothing's cooler than having a one-of-a-kind Cornhole set. In fact, one of the more popular reasons people get custom Cornhole boards is because they make good gifts from and for organizations such as a company gift, or your Fraternity or Bike Club or whatever social group you may belong to. Glow in the Dark Black light Cornhole

One of the most innovative designs I've ever seen is this glow in the dark black light Cornhole game. Called Cosmic Cornhole, this ingenious device installs some black lights into a see-through acrylic board and it gives the game an awesome new twist. This is a big hit at bars and nightclubs and really is a one-of-a-kind attraction. It also comes with fluorescent bags to give the whole game a completely glow in the dark Cornhole package. Who needs daylight? You can play Cosmic Cornhole all through the night so the party doesn't have to stop.

Cornhole Bags

One way to cheaply customize your Cornhole game is to buy extra Cornhole bags.  Many game sets come with the standard red and blue Cornhole bags that are ok, but with some of the innovative designs out there the Cornhole bags can really take on a new level of customization.  So whether you need to replace your Cornhole bags because they got wet and nasty, or you just want an extra set to have on hand, there are a ton of places on the internet that can give you all sorts of Cornhole bags.

Cornhole Accessories

And if you didn't have enough fun accessorizing your custom Cornhole boards or your Cornhole bags then check out all the accessories that people have come up with for this game. There are Cornhole drink holders and scoreboards that put the necessity of a scoreboard together with the convenience of a drink holder (or is it the necessity of a drink holder and the convenience of a scoreboard?). Anyhow, you may think that you don't need to splurge on something ridiculous like a scoreboard. I can't tell you the number of times that I thought I knew the score, especially after a few games and a few beers. The scoreboard and drink holder combo is one of those things that puts to rest pointless arguing and it gives you a spot for your beer. Because Cornhole and beer drinking go together pretty darn well.

Another neat accessory combo is the Cornhole nightlights and glow in the dark Cornhole bags. While not nearly as cool as the Cosmic Cornhole game, you can still get some nighttime gameplay by installing two of these LED Cornhole lights that go around the hole in the board to illuminate the target. Then to see where you're bags are going you can pick up some glow-in-the-dark bags that use glowsticks to illuminate the bags. Makes it easy to see how you scored and where your bag landed. Makes late night partying way cooler.
