Welcome to the epic saga of Crystal Story II! Dargons on the rise, a mysterious boy from above, a wacky witch and her useless henchmen, and a whole lotta RPG fun. What more could you ask for in a browser game? Open it up and get started!

- Watch the opening cut scene, then name your character and set off. You only have one choice of location when you begin. The forest awaits!

Small Forest

- Scroll through the tutorial. Pretty basic stuff.

- Follow the path east, south, and west. Nothing to see.

- You'll arrive at a crossroads. Go either direction and you'll run into your first monster encounter. Easy stuff, even at this low level. Go west and south to find a chest containing a Heal Potion I.

- Go east two screens and you'll be forced into a battle with a Gargantuan. Imposing, this, but fairly simple. Use D's Fire Attack and it'll be toast in no time. You'll receive a Plate I for beating it, along with the usual rewards. Continue east to leave.

Medium Forest

- As you enter you'll meet a second party member, with the default name of Lina. She's not as strong as D, but she's faster. Always helpful to have a second pair of hands anyway, especially since you'll be facing multiple enemies in this forest.

- Head south two screens. There's a split in the road. Start by going south, where you'll find a Revive.

- Go west three screens to find Gauntlets I.

- Follow the path north until you're forced back east. After two screens you'll locate a Cure Potion.

Go back west and wander two screens south. You'll hit a cut scene. Afterward you'll have a boss to face.

Rock

This guy is a straightforward brawler, but he's a bit tougher than he looks. Wipe out his HP once and he'll revert to a higher HP form with stronger attacks that can potentially stun your characters. Nevertheless, your course here is clear: wipe him out with physical strikes. Lina's Burst, utilizing Grenades, will demolish both of Rock's forms without a ton of effort.

Smalltown

Ahh, the obligatory village full of stuff to buy and quests to embark upon. Lina will depart your party for a while when you arrive; don't sweat it too much. You can immediately get her back by entering the Evil Cave outside town.

- Mercenary Inc is basically your home base. You can go here to receive extra quests beyond the main story. Check back here periodically for new tasks.

- The Shop is where you'll buy your items. You can also upgrade your equipment via the Armory and create items via Alchemy. The latter two both require raw materials found by killing, or stealing from, enemies.

- Pet will allow you to utilize, you know, pets. Not yet, though. Come back after completing the first optional quest, listed below, and you can create a decorative little pet slime. You can also summon the slime in battle to do damage to all enemies, which can be very helpful in a punch.

- Last up, the Inn. You can rest here to fully restore your HP and MP between forays. Very helpful, and reasonable at 50 G per sleep.

Your next destination is the Evil Cave, but we'll start by completing some optional quests.

OPTIONAL: Double Crosser

Location: Small Forest

Reward: 500 G, 15 Scrap Metal, Unlock Pet

You're tasked with defeating the Slime King, a happy ball of goo living in the Small Forest. You'll find it in the same place where D fought the Gargantuan, right at the end. Though it uses a variety of elemental attacks, the Slime King is quite straightforward. Beat down its two phases and heal as necessary. Beating it will earn you Pet Accessory 19, which unlocks the Pet option in Smalltown.

OPTIONAL: Zombie Defense

Location: Main Map

Reward: 500 G, Pet Accessory 2

Zombie Defense appears north of the Evil Cave. This quest is a little different from normal in that you're playing a mini game to halt the advance of the zombies - no less than a simple Bejewelled clone. Your goal is to line up three or more identical symbols in either a row or a column. Do so and you'll destroy incoming zombies, as well as do damage to the Zombie King. Do this enough and you'll destroy the king and complete the quest. Pretty easy overall, so long as you mind that you can only change the positions of the symbols horizontally and vertically, not diagonally.

Completing Zombie Defense will unlock...

OPTIONAL: Zombie Defense II

Location: Main Map

Reward: 600 G, Stat ATK

Hey, remember that thing you just did? Do it again! Pretty much the same thing. Pummel that Zombie King.

Enough dallying about with side missions. Time to check out that forbidding lookin' cave over yonder.

Evil Cave

Floor 1

- Follow the path, which doesn't give you much choice as to direction. It will lead you to a split. North is a dead end; go west instead. You'll find an Earth Charm.

- Go north and west two screens to find a Heal Potion I.

- Head as far south as you can go to find the second floor.

Floor 2

- Head north one screen. You'll find a treasure chest you need to hack to open. This is more simple than it looks: you just need to mess with the arrows in such a way that you create a path to the far end of the area. You can even change arrows as Lina is moving forward across them, which, if you start off on an up arrow, basically gives you a free path across. This chest contains a Heatblade I and an ATK Flask.

- Continue north. Done!

Floor 3

- Follow the path west. Along the way you'll find a Revive.

- South is a split. To the east is a large loop which leads back to this spot. Unless you feel like levelling, go south one screen to find a Pet Body 2, then head west. There's a boss fight waiting for you.

Dargon

Dargon is pretty straightforward, as he uses Quake I over and over. Fortunately, you now have an Earth Charm which can dull the damage done. Equip this on Lina to accommodate her lower HP, then wail on the thing. It has two health bars to whittle away. Dargon is slow, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to get in hits.

- in the aftermath of the battle you'll wind up back in Smalltown, now with a new party member: Phoebe. Woot, four bodies! (You can't upgrade her equipment, so don't even try.)

Small River

- Follow the path until you hit a split. Along the way you'll find a Pet Mouth.

- If you go along the southern path you'll hit a dead end. Here you'll five five Scrap Metals.

- Go west of the split and keep following the screens to yet another intersection. Head east of here to find a Confuse Ring. The last screen is a dead end, so don't bother unless you're looking for experience.

- Backtrack and carry on south. The Frog King awaits!

Frog King

The Frog King can be very annoying with its capacity to confuse your team members with Lick, but it has one major weakness: it's slow. Hit Frog King with your strongest attacks from the getgo and you can probably force it into its second form in one round, essentially resetting its turn order. Do the same again and you may be able to survive this battle without taking a hit. If you fear confusion, put the Confuse Ring you just found on your stronger character.

Orc Isle

- Head north. You'll come to a four-way split. In the middle is a Kris I.

- Go west and south to find 100 G.

- There's plenty of ground to cover, but unless you want to level (always good) you can skip most of it. Return to the intersection and head straight north, then one screen east. Here you'll find Pet Eyes 2. Keep going north, then turn west. A new boss is waiting for you.

Orc Master

Easy, easy fight. Orc Master is slow, and all he does is try to pummel you with physical attacks. You can use Phoebe's magic to boost your offensive power, but it's hardly necessary. Beat him down with whatever attacks you fancy.

- After taking care of things here, losing Phoebe and watching a cut scene, return to Smalltown. Once there you'll earn a new teammate, named Mari by default. Woo! You can also now Fish, which will allow you to pluck valuable items and ingredients out of the sea. Not a necessity for completing the game, but still fun.

Water Ruins

Floor 1

- Head east to a split. North of here is a Cure Potion and, beyond that, a dead end.

- Wander south. At the next split you'll find five Grenades.

- East of here is a dead end. Sigh. Go south instead.

Floor 2

- Two choices, east or west. If you wander east and follow the path you'll eventually find a Pet Hat 2. Return to the intersection and go west instead and you'll find the object of your search: the King Crab himself.

King Crab

Tough, but not that tough. King Crab will up his defense, then start attacking you one-by-one. You can either chip away at his health the slow way or have Mari use Lightning I to flip it over, greatly reducing its HP. Either way, not a difficult fight.

Small Bridge

- Straight trip across. Watch out for enemies that can put you to sleep. At the far end you'll run into some cat trouble...

Bop

Shrug. He's just a beefed-up version of a normal enemy. Get him down once and he'll come back with some elemental attacks and a new health bar. Not much to say.

Welcome to the next continent! In the second installment of the Crystal Story 2 walkthrough we'll explore fresh territory, meet some new faces, hopefully fill in that fourth slot in the character roster, and maybe kill a Dargon or two. Sounds like fun, no?
