The Sims 3 Jail Set | Free Sims 3 Download

Updated on August 4, 2011

One of the great joys of playing The Sims 3 is inviting people over to your sim's house and imprisoning them there for a great length of time. With this jail set from sim modder, Lisen801, you can create real jails for your sims. Watch me write that like it's a positive thing! Being a free mod set, it's not perfect, but it is pretty close, which is all I ask. Because it's free, unlike almost everything else connected with The Sims 3 franchise.

How The Sims 3 Jail Pack Works

There is no jail wall pattern. What you do is you create your cell from the plain grey walls as usual. There's no point covering it with wallpaper or similar because the jail 'walls' (actually windows) cover everything anyway. You can find these jail 'walls' in the windows section. They are partially transparent (in the parts where the bars aren't, so you can see through them to look at sims, but sims cannot interact through the bars because technically, there's a solid wall there. The door works in similar fashion, except it is actually a doorr and you can find it in the doors section.

A minor glitch, that of transparent room ends can be fixed with columns that place solid metal grey pillars at the corners of the cell bars. These columns are found in the décor section. I know. It makes no sense, but that's just the way it is. With the columns installed, your sim jails will now make coherent visual sense.

You're free to decorate your cell as you like. There are beds that hang from chains on the wall, but in the tradition of things not being what they seem in this mod, they're actually couches. That means any sim locked in one of these jails on a jail bed won't be able to sleep, though naps are potentially an option.

Best of all of course, this set is entirely free! Sing ho for the life of a bear!

If you're feeling terribly cruel, you can have a jail cell theme for your sim nursery. The babies won't notice, they'll be too busy being ignored by sims who prefer to display a crying baby bubble rather than actually do something about it.

You'll need a Mod the Sims account to download this set, but if you're the sort of person who likes getting free stuff for their game, you should really have one anyway. It is only the most wonderful Sims 3 modding site on the great wide internets, you know.
