Fun Baby Shower Games Ideas

Updated on June 17, 2016

A baby shower is a happy occasion to celebrate an upcoming baby (as well as for the mom-to-be to get great baby-related presents). Make sure guests have a fun time by incorporating some baby themed games and activities into the event.

Don't Say Baby!

When each guest arrives, give them a dummy on a string to wear around their neck, and instruct them that they cannot say the word "baby". If they hear someone else say the word "baby" and call it out, they get a dummy from that person. The person with the most dummies at the end of the party wins!

Guess the Baby Pictures

Have each guest send you a baby picture of themselves before the party, and display them somewhere. Guests must try to guess whose baby picture is whose. The person who gets the most correct wins.

Baby Shower Charades

Play charades with various pregnancy and baby related words, such as:

  • bottle
  • bassinet
  • dummy/pacifier
  • mittens
  • diaper genie

Baby Food Game

Blindfold a party guest, and give them a small amount of baby food on a spoon. They must guess what the ingredients are.

Guess the number of jelly babies in the bottle

Fill up a baby bottle (or other jar) with jelly babies, and have everyone guess how many jelly babies are in the jar. The person whose guess is the closest wins! Variations include guess the number of diaper pins, guess the number of dummies/pacifiers and guess the number of diapers.

Baby Trivia

Research baby related things on the internet, and come up with a trivia contest! Questions can include:

  • how many babies are born each day?
  • What's the average weight babies are born at?
  • celebrity babies- give the first name and any middle names of a baby with famous parents, and see who can guess who the parents are!

Baby Animals Game

Divide your guests into teams, and give them a list of animals. They must try to answer what the baby of that species is called. Include hard ones and easy ones. Some examples in order of increasing difficulty are listed below. The answers have been removed, so that you can play too if you want.

The answers are at the bottom of this article

  • Cat
  • Dog
  • Cow
  • Horse
  • Duck
  • Seal
  • Goat
  • Kangaroo
  • Lion
  • Owl
  • Goose
  • Fish
  • Whale
  • Beaver
  • Zebra
  • Eel
  • Quail

Spit the dummy

Give all players a cheap dummy. They must stand behind a line, and take turns trying to spit their dummy as far as they can. The person who spits the dummy the furthest wins!

Singlets for baby

This is not a game, but a baby shower activity. Divide up the guests into groups, and give each group a baby-sized singlet. Using embroidery equipment, coloured materials, dyes, textas and whatever else you can think of, they must decorate the singlet. At the end, the mum-to-be gets to keep all the singlets and will be able to dress the baby with them.
