Guild Wars 2 Chest Farming: Plains of Ashford
Teleport or walk to either Vir's Gate or Vault WP. If you go to Vir's Gate, run east on the road towards Vault WP. It's a short run, and you'll know you're there because you will see a group of Blood Legion Charr at the entrance of a ruin.
The chest is in the third room of the crypt.
You will have to battle either red oozes or Ascalon ghosts, depending on if there is an event up when you hunt for the chest. I advise if you're soloing, go when there is no event. The oozes are much easier to fight than the Ascalon ghosts.
The first room will have two oozes and a lootable sarcophagus that will give you glittering dust if you loot it.
The second room will have two oozes and a veteran ooze and another sarcophagus.
The third room will have three oozes and a veteran ooze protecting the basic chest.
South of Windrock Maze
Teleport or run to Irondock Shipyard waypoint.
Run and swim southwest towards Windrock Maze, but do not go in. Instead of turning into the Maze, you want to keep running west towards that valley that's loaded with Skales.
Battle the Skales, because you can't just run past them. Unless you prefer to fight large mobs and just burst AOE damage.
At the end of the valley there will be some Iron Legion corpses and a basic chest. As you get close to the chest, a Veteran Skale will spawn. Once they're all dead you can loot the chest.
TP to the WP north of Ascalon City Ruins and run east, straight through the mobs of Ascalon ghosts towards the Vista in Human's Lament.
Just south of the vista is a cave entrance protected by vampire bats, cave trolls and a Veteran cave troll. Fight the trolls and make your way through the hall, where you will encounter more trolls.
At the end, the hall splits into 2 directions: left will take you back outside and to the vista. Right will take you to a clearing with 10-15 Ascalonian ghosts protecting a chest.
I recommend bursty AOE damage, since you won't be able to take the ghosts on one at a time without the cave trolls in the hall respawning and aggroing on to you, or aggroing the rest of the mob.
The Toppled Wall
To the center-north of the map is The Toppled Wall. Make your way there.
You'll see ruined stairs leading up to harpy nests. Once you get to the very top of the stairs, there will be a mob of harpies and a nest, closest to the stairs. Walk towards the next and you'll see the chest next to it.
While you're fighting the mob of harpies you might encounter or get attacked by a Veteran Harpy Matriarch.
There is a WP right outside of the Decimus Stones (southwest-most part of the Plains of Ashford), but it is often contested, so wp to the closest available WP and make your way there.
It's a battle to get to where the splendid chest is, so follow the path and fight through the ghosts. There are 3 main "ruin" sets or areas. The third one is on the left after you enter the Decimus Stones area, but you have to follow the path around to get to it.
In the north part of the area, look for a tall but small doorway that leads into a cave. There's a room with a couple of ghosts. On the west wall there's a hallway.
Once you enter and get about halfway down the hall it will begin to collapse, raining AOE down on you and it will aggro all of the ghost on the other side to attack you.
One of those ghosts is a Champion Veteran, and he's the boss guarding the Splendid chest in the other room beyond the hallway.
I suggest going and triggering the whole mob and then dodging backwards out of the hall's AOE damage and killing as many of the regular ghosts as you can. They won't stay for long in the first room, but the more you can knock out before going against the Champion Vet the better.
Alternatively you can just dodge roll into the second room and do bursty AOE and kill them all that way too.
The splendid chest is right on top of the stairs on the west side of the room.
Loreclaw Expanse is the jumping puzzle in the southeast of the Plains of Ashford. There are no hidden chests or loot in the puzzle, only the standard grand chest reward at the end. So I've provided a video in case you're not familiar with the puzzle and you'd like to grab that chest as well.
