Guild Wars 2 Chest Farming: Queensdale
There are a grand total of 7 chests in Queensdale.
5 are regular chests.
1 is a Grand Chest.
1 is a Splendid Chest.
2 regular chests and the grand chest are found in the Demongrub Pitts jumping puzzle; the grand chest is the reward for finishing the puzzle.
Queensdale is the explorable area to the south of the human city, Divinity's Reach. There are a variety of ways to get to Queensdale, but the debatable easiest is to just create a human character. I don't recommend chest farming for newbies, though, but if you're a high enough level to start chest farming, you probably already know all about Queensdale and the plague of bandits and centaurs and the mobs you will encounter while questing for these chests.
Harpy Roost - Basic Chest
Teleport or run to the Vale Waypoint. To the west there is a cave where the Champion Troll spawns, but right before the entrance (to the east) there is a ramp that leads up a winding hill.
You want to go up towards the vista, and turn down the path closest to you. You'll see harpy nests. In one guarded by a Veteran Harpy there is a basic chest. You'll have to kill the harpies to get to it or you'll never be able to open it, but they should die relatively quickly.
Screenshots include detailed path and descriptions.
The components you'll find in the chest will vary, but basic chests contain crafting materials and armor. Most times you will earn empyreal fragments in this chest, a crafting component for ascended items.
Wolf Den - Basic Chest
Teleport or run to Altar Brook Vale Waypoint.
North, and just a little bit east from the waypoint (into the hillside) is a wolf den.
Fight or run through the wolves inside. It is a really shallow cave, just 1 room. The most difficult part (and I use "difficult" lightly) is that wolves howl to summon allies (only once, thank goodness!) if you don't kill them fast enough.
The chest is guarded by a Veteran Den Mother.
This chest will also drop Empyreal Fragments and a piece of armor or an upgrade component.
Beggar's Burrow - Splendid Chest
In here is a Splendid chest, so you're going to have to fight for it in a whole camp of bandits.
Teleport or run to either the Queen's Forest WP or Shaemoor Garrison WP (I went to Shaymoor because the Queen's Forest was contested).
If you go to the Queen's Forest WP, all you have to do is swim directly through Lake Delavan to the Beggar's Burrow. If you go through Shaemoor Garrison you'll have to climb downhill to the east and swim to the burrow, maybe battle some drakes and bandits on the way.
At the entrance, there will be a Bandit Sabatour. Those guys drop bombs that do heavy damage and knock you up in the air, which gives them time to run to you again and put another bomb on you and it can become infuriating very quickly. There will also be 2 other bandits. Lure the Sabatour out first and don't stand still enough for her to get a bomb down next to you and she should die relatively quickly.
After you take her out, take out the other 2 bandits and then open the door to the cave. There will be a few bandits at the entrance, before the bridge, try to kill them without luring the bandits on the bridge.
Then take out the bandits on the bridge without aggroing the ones on the other side of the water.
After I kill the bandits on the bridge, I like to jump off the bridge and go up the easternmost side of the room. If you do a lot of AOE DPS damage, you might be able to take out the entire room, but I can't, so I stealthily make my way up the side to the ramp while leaving some bandits alive.
Up the ramp is a Veteran Sabatour and some more bandits. I try to pull two or so of the regular bandits without aggroing the Vet to make battling him easier. After they're dead I avoid getting hit with bombs by running up and down the hill and doing high DPS and distracting him with my clones and he dies fairly quickly, then I focus on the remaining bandits if they haven't died yet.
The chest is in the wooden platform. Sometimes you'll trigger the bandits below but you should have time to open and grab the loot and high tail it out of there depending on how many spawned. I like to back up to the ramp and exit to the graveyard by the secret door up there, but to open the door you have to kill any aggroed bandits. I don't mind the extra loot.
Orlaf Escarpments - Basic Chest
This one is easy to get to as well.
Teleport or run to Godlost WP and run up the hill towards the Cliffwatch Camp Point of Interest. You'll have to battle some centaurs, but it's no worse than the wolf den or harpy roost.
Go up the ramp that takes you to the top of the hill, where you can obtain the Cliffwatch Camp PoI.
The chest is in the tent protected by the Veteran Centaur.
Demongrub Pitts - 2 basic, 1 loot bag, 1 grand chest.
Demongrub Pitts is a jumping puzzle. There are 2 basic chests "hidden" in the puzzle and I'm going to show you how to get to them and the grand chest but not really detail getting through the puzzle. It is very simple, mostly just jumping over platforms.
Once you're in the Pitts, jump to the far north platform, past the NPC who chickens out on the jump if you talk to her. There is a basic chest guarded by a veteran spider who spawns when you get close enough. The platform is loaded with spiders, I just burst them with AOE damage and they die quickly.
You can't jump back to the entrance once you loot that chest. But if you go to the far west side of the platform, there's a lower platform you can jump to. Under the platform that had the chest and spiders is a loot bag and a giant spider egg sack you can break to spawn spiders. Once you get the loot bag, fall down and run past (or kill) the spiders at the bottom and go up the ramp back to the top. Then you follow the east wall and jump to the next room.
On the north wall again in this room there's a mob of bats and shadow skelks on a stone platform. Kill them, and on the north/west wall there's what looks like a wooden collapsed mine entrance. If you get closer you can see an entrance to a tunnel. The only thing in the tunnel is a basic chest.
Go back out and jump on the platforms to the next big room where you'll battle more skelks and enter the tunnel to the final room.
Lots of oozes spawn so I recommend going slowly and clearing the room before you get the grand chest. After you get the grand chest, there is a ramp up the west side of the room that takes you out safely. Or, you can hide in the crook behind the grand chest to WP out without aggroing any remaining or spawning oozes.
This video does not show the 2 extra chests or how to get the loot bag. Once I can record and upload my own video of that process I will, but for now, this is a simple video of a player going through the just the puzzle for the grand chest at the end.
You can watch the video for a general expectation of the jumping puzzle and incorporate my images and descriptions to see where the smaller chests are.
Prove You Know A Lot About Destiny's Edge
This is a random event that occurs in the Village of Shaemoor, where a bunch of kids quiz you about Destiny's Edge. It's bugged after reset, and personally I have only seen it up once in the whole two years I've been playing GW2.
So while I wait to run across it, here is the wikipage where you can read more about it, and get the answers to the questions in case you are lucky enough to happen across it:
