Adult Halloween Party Games

As a child growing up in Wales I loved Halloween as it allowed me to have fun by dressing as a character and then participate in a multitude of Halloween party games for kids. However, once I grew up and focused more on my children I began to forget what Halloween was all about.

Halloween is supposed to be a fun time where you dress up in great costumes, spend times with friends and family and generally forget about everyday troubles. We all need to make the effort to relax and have fun before we get too old to do this!

Now that your children are grown and have left the house it’s time to rediscover the fun of Halloween and find some Halloween Party Games for Adults. Here are some ideas that for a fun and safe Halloween:

Halloween Guessing Candies game

This game is almost a teaser for the entire night. Get some Halloween Candy, throw it in a jar and have your guest make a spooky guess on the number of candies in the Jar. You can announce the winner as people are leaving.

You can make this more Halloween Oriented by placing the candies in a Halloween Cookie Jar, so that not only will it fit the theme very well, but the winner of the contest also gets a nice keepsake to take home with them.

Tip: don’t forget to count the candies before you put them in the jar!

Prize Idea: jar of candy.

Halloween Forfeit

Give your guests a list of words that cannot be said during the Halloween Party. If anyone says one of these words they have to do a forfeit of choice. Depending on the type of party you are having the forfeit can vary. As an example, give each guest a bag of candy – every time they say the word they have to give a piece of candy to the accuser. The guest with the most candy at the end of the night wins a suitable prize.

Example Words: Halloween; Ghoul; Ghost; Pumpkin.

Prize Idea: candy.

Halloween Charades

Get a list of movies with a horror theme and ask couples (or pairs) to act out them using standard charade rules. The team that guesses the most movies wins a prize. The key to this game is that everyone participates and really makes fun of the movies – you can award bonus points for the funniest interpretation of a movie.

Some movie ideas: Halloween; The Birds; The Exorcist.

Prize Idea: DVD compilation of 50 horror movies.

Halloween Scavenger Hunt

This is another game that can be fun and last the whole party. Give each team a list of items that must be found - a cool way to do this is to add pictures of the items to a digital picture frame. Ask them to find these items around the house, the back yard and even the local area if you are feeling daring. Tell your guest to bring an instant or digital camera with them so that when they find the item they can take a picture of it. To make it more fun don’t put all the items out at once, stagger the time when they are available – also have a couple that are only visible for a few minutes. Also introduce some items that could be totally random (Example: trick or treater dressed as Batman).

Some scavenger hunt ideas: Pumpin with a smiley face; candy apple; a specific piece of candy.

Prize Idea: digital picture frame with all the items uploaded.

Halloween Hide and Seek

Simple and fun, this version of Hide and Seek is certain to get hearts pumping! Get every to hide and then find the scariest Halloween costume you can find. Turn off all the lights in the house and use a flash light to find the hidden guests. Have some spooky music playing and if you can get one, use a smoke machine to add extra atmosphere. When you find someone, send them to a room where they must lie down and cross their arms as if they were corpses. The odd scream here and there will help to add to the overall fear factor.

Prize Idea: flash light.

Halloween Murder Scene

This takes stealth; grab a random Guest or two when you can and take them somewhere where you can draw a chalk outline of them – make them lie in a position that looks like they were murdered and were left twisted and bleeding. Use some ketchup to make the scene look gruesome.

Later on, get all the guests to guess who the chalk figures are – instruct the actual ‘victims’ to join in and divert the rest of the guests.

Prize idea: box of chalk.

Halloween Jeopardy

Put on your Alex Trebek question and invite three teams to compete in Halloween Jeopardy. Pick six Halloween related subjects and have five questions in each category – the value of the questions will range from 5 candies for the easiest to 25 for the hardest. The contestants pick a category and a candy value – you give them the question and if they answer correctly they win the candies – if they get the answer wrong they lose candies. After all the questions are asked, you have a final Halloween Jeopardy question and the contestants can risk as much candy as they want to ‘double’ they candies if they get the final question right.

Category ideas: Movies, Music, Vampires, Werewolves, Stakes (food related!), Candy.

Prize Ideas: Jeopardy Game.

Conclusion

These Halloween games are fun and safe, and will esnure everyone has a great time. They all can be adapted to make some Halloween Games for Kids.

The most important thing is that you have great fun with your friends and family, and find time to relax.
