Hulk's Helicarrier Breakout 6868 - Lego Super Heroes - Release Date, Prices

Updated on April 30, 2012

On this page we are going to take a look at the new Lego Avengers set Hulk’s Helicarrier Breakout 6868. This is a new set from the Super Heroes theme and this one is based on the Marvel character the Hulk. We will look at release dates for Hulk Lego, prices and where to buy online, plus we will tell you everything you need to know about the new Hulk’s Helicarrier Breakout Lego set.

In 2011 Lego revealed a new line of toys they would be bringing out in 2012. This was to be the Super Heroes theme. Lego had stuck a deal with Marvel and DC and were now able to tap into the vast wealth of characters these comic book giants have given us over the years. The first release was mainly new Batman sets, but the second wave of toys is going to see Lego move in a different direction. One of the new sets is going to be based on the Marvel character Hulk. So let’s have a look at this new release and see how it ties in with the new Avengers movie.

Hulk’s Helicarrier Breakout Lego Super Heroes Set 6868

So one of the new sets we are going to see released is this one. Hulk’s Helicarrier Breakout will have the item number 6868. When it comes to release date we are expecting this one to be released sometime in the April of 2012. Currently we can’t find an exact date, but April looks to be the month. If you are wondering about prices then this one is probably going to be retailing at around the $70, this is one of the larger sets so that is why it is more expensive than some. UPDATE - This set has now been released although it seems very hard to get hold of. You can order it on Amazon but on there it say's they won't have any in stock till May 1st. There are a few popping up on eBay which is worth a look. You can buy the Hulk Lego set online for around the $70 mark as we originally expected. Now we have actually had a look at this one, we can tell you it really is a nice set, and the Hulk minifigure is awesome!

Included with this set are four minifigures. Obviously the Hulk is one of these and it really does look like a very impressive minifig. It is larger in size than the others as you might expect, but still looks very much like a minifigure. You also get Hawkeye who looks to be carrying a bow and arrow weapon. As well as these two you also get Thor and Loki. So some pretty nice minifigures which really do have some excellent detail.

The main thrust of the set is Bruce Banner’s lab which includes a cell for keeping Loki. You also get a Jet which belongs to Hawkeye. Hulk’s Helicarrier Breakout will contain 389 pieces which will make it a decent sized set and it looks as if it will have plenty of playability. The set is based on one of the classic scencs from the Avengers movie where we see Bruce Banner finally change into the Hulk. This is a really good part of the film and Lego have brought it to life in Lego format very well. As to whether or not this one will be as popular as some of the other releases, only time will tell. But the fact is that if you fancy getting your hands on some Hulk Lego then you can’t go far wrong with this one.

More Marvel Sets Released

As well as Hulk Lego we are also going to see quite a few other characters with sets of their own. In total there will be four new Lego sets which are going to be based on the Avengers movie. The smallest one we are going to see is Captain America Avenging Cycle. This is the only set containing Captain America and will be retailing at below $20 so quite a bargain. Then we will see Loki’s Cosmic Cube Escape a small set featuring a brilliant Ironman minifigure. The largest of the new sets looks like being Quinjet Aerial Battle, this one features over 700 bricks as well as four excellent minifigures. For us this is the best one of the new Avengers Lego sets and having seen the film we can say the Quinjet is very nicely done indeed. All these sets are expected to be released in the April of 2012.

We are also expecting some Spider-man Lego but as of yet have not had any definite details regarding release dates or even what the set will include. This one is expected to be called Spider-man’s Doc Ock Ambush. Plus we will see a new set based on Wolverine, this one will be called Wolverine's Chopper Showdown and will have around 200 pieces.

As you can see Lego are trying to get as many of these new sets out as possible. The Super Heroes theme has already created massively publicity for Lego and the first wave of Batman sets has sold very well. As they look to expand their range of Super Heroes toys we really should see some brilliant characters that are already loved by many of us. This particular set, Hulk’s Helicarrier Breakout looks like a really well put together set and fans of Marvel and The Avengers will no doubt be eager to snap it up. Over the coming years we expect Lego to base more new sets on some of the other new films. So we will probably see more sets based on Spiderman for that new film, Dark Knight Lego sets and then in 2013 we are going to see Thor 2, Captain America 2 and Iron Man 3, so we may well see more new Lego based on those films. The next few years will be very interesting when it comes to the Super Heroes theme.
