Kingdom Hearts 3 - The release date, the storyline and more

Kingdom Hearts 3, the long awaited sequel after Kingdom Hearts 2 is what most of us are thinking about when it comes to video games. Kingdom Hearts 2 came out 7 years ago, some would say those years have been dragging out waiting for this new instalment. Fans of the Kingdom Hearts series would love to finally see some release dates or even some regular talk about the game, but there hasn’t been a whole lot of it.

Some people think that the third game will be a direct continuation of the second game, while others seem to think that it will be a completely different storyline. I for one, love the three main characters in the first two games, Sora, Riku and Kairi, so I would be a little sad to see them be totally wiped off of the new game.

I remember many years ago, when we were first waiting for Kingdom Hearts 3, we all figured it would come out maybe two or three years after, but boy, were we wrong. It’s been a really long wait and I feel like the spark is gone for a lot of people. I know that when I know the release date, I will pre-order and buy it on day one. The series has a special place in the fans hearts and everyone who has ever played it, has that feeling of it being something from their childhood.

The story and the characters gave such an array of things to enjoy, from Disney to Final Fantasy, to all the different worlds and flying a Gummi Ship. There was something so magical about these games and I know that all of the fans feel that way.

The thing I hate the most about all of this, is that they make so many spin offs for the PSP and DS, that it’s losing its’ charm and magic. These games were so fun and original and for them to just make a bunch of spin offs that are barely fun, is just killing the series. Kingdom Hearts 3 needs to finally just happen to keep the Kingdom Hearts magic alive!

If they are going to take a totally different spin in this sequel and make all new characters, I hope they at least leave the old characters some room for flashback appearances or something of that nature.

I would hate to see them all left out of this long awaited game. I think we would all say that the friendship between Sora, Riku and Kairi really made the game addicting. We all wanted to know if they would find each other again, or if Sora and Kairi were going to be together again. I still want more of that story, because I feel like it wasn’t finished in the last game. I feel like I needed to still have more of an adventure with the three of them. I hope that we will get something like that and maybe be able to have them all in our party. Maybe it will happen, maybe not, but either way I cannot wait for this game!

I totally agree with you 100% on everything you wrote! I always felt like such a little kid playing Kingdom Hearts while everyone else was playing shoot 'em up games (albeit, I do enjoy those as well!). Is there a definite release date for Kingdom Hearts 3? I was just curious if you knew of one or not.

I just read on ign.com Kingdom hearts HD remix is coming out very soon and it includes all games in the series up to date with added content to tie together all the story lines as well as serving as a precursor to Kingdom Hearts 3. IT will be released for the PS3, Xbox360 and WII U.

Hope this garners a bit of excitement! ^_^

Cheerios!!!

You should really do some more research if your so excited for the game! Tetsuya said in more than one interview that kh3 will be a console title and also the last main installment in the series to feature sora riku and kairi as main characters :) he's said a lot more too like when he plans to start developing, but you just gotta look for it! If you read my best RPGs ever u can see I'm one of the biggest kh fans ever XD!

Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2 were really awesome games. I played both of those games religiously when they came out, so much to the point that I played each of the ds games as well. I actually enjoyed Chain of Memories, but maybe that was because it hit home with my childhood and the card games I played. 358/2 I didn't really care for though. The possibility of a Kingdom Hearts 3 is pretty exciting. I just hope they do it right. You can count on them including all of the recent Disney movies that were released, which is really depressing considering what they have released lately. I mean the movies aren't bad, but converting them to games won't work well. Great hub. Voted up. Awesome.

Kingdom Hearts is overall a great series. I wouldn't really call the other games spin offs though. They are more like side stories, since they all continue the main plot. In fact the new KH game comming out for the 3ds is a continuation for sora and riku after KH2.

Its called Dream drop distance. It looks really awesome! Chain of memories took place between kh 1 and 2 and so did 358/2 days, Recoded is the most like a spin off. It is pretty much just KH 1 with important information at the end, and Birth by sleep in the prequel to KH1 that explains important events that will happen in Dream Drop Distance and in KH3. Its exciting for Dream Drop Distance, but even more for when KH3 comes out.

I also heard a rumor that Dream Drop is the final KH game BEFORE they release KH 3! So it can't be too much longer!

I heard that DDD WAS going to be KH3, and will have Sora and Riku going through their Mastery exam like Aqua and Terra had done, but it would also include some form of adventure and heartless slaying... You know, because it just wouldn't be kingdom hearts without us all stomping on shadows, now would it?

Make sure to read what happens in 3D's because it's going to be very relevant to the story like COM :)

OMIGAWD I hope in this game sora confess his feelings for kairi and kiss her already that what we've all been waiting for if he docent he better in KH4 of there even is gonna be one.

they said that development won't happen until they finish the upcoming final fantasy. i forgot what it was called. they said the storyline takes place directly after dream drop distance on the 3ds, similar to how the second one took place directly after chain of memories. I'd say another year or two of waiting. I'm angry

What I hate about the mobile game systems, well the two things I hate about Mobile Kingdom Hearts games, are size, and speed.

I have played the three games Chain of Memories(Gameboy Advance),

358/2 days, and part of Birth by Sleep.

In all three of these games, the size of the system is to small.

It keeps the developer from adding many extra fluff.

This ment a smaller game, which in turn made the game empty.

In all of those games, They had the bare minimum, and in Chain of Memories, other than the pooh world, you could only talk to each person once.

The other problem I faced was the speed of the systems advancement.

Each game was one a different system! You had to have the newest of each system to play the game, and if you aren't the richest in your neighborhood, that wasn't likely to happen
