New Super Mario Brothers Wii Walkthrough: World 1
Not the part of the New Super Mario Brothers Wii Walkthrough that you are looking for? No problem! Here is the other chapters.
Right here, you can learn this hint. Any time you do a spin move by a flower, a coin will appear. Not bad. Big mushroom located on the question mark box above.
Keep going right, and the second turning thing will have a green pipe. Go down that green pipe and you’ll be in an area with lots of coins. You’ll get more when you pound on that big “P” thing.
Eventually, you will come to a place with a turtle and two Goombas. The only thing of interest here is on the second brick platform is one that will give you plenty of coins.
You will soon be at the mid-point. You can get the First Star Coin here. Just use the question box to get the propeller hat and jump to get it.
After two rolling fields, you can use the propeller hat to get to an orange ring. This will unleash eight coins that can be collected in a certain amount of time, and will grant a bonus.
You definitely want to head to the left and deal with some stuff on the ground, as there will be a rolling field with a green pipe in it. You will soon find yourself at an area where there is the Second Star Coin atop a lot of other coins. You have to do some kick jumps on the sides of pipes to get it. On your way out, be certain to get a 1UP located on the cave as you come out.
You will then need to get yourself skyward again on the upper platform. Of course, you will need to have the propeller hat for this. Eventually, you will encounter the Third Star Coin.
Head to the Goal.
This is where you head down into the caves. The First Star Coin is located as you come in the caves, and it is easy to spot. Just get up there with a little wall bounding, if necessary.
You will come to one place where there is a big Pow. If you hit that, some coins will fall down. Those come in handy.
When you get to the tilting platform, you should lean it so the right side is all the way up, and jump to the pipes there. In the center block is a P-Switch that must be hit. This will change the coins into blocks, and you need to get up there quickly in order to get the Second Gold Coin.
There is this one area that you have to slide-duck in order to enter, but if you Ground Pound here, you can get an Invulnerability star.
You will come to another area similar to the one described in the above paragraph. You can ground pound to get to a green pipe, and then you’ll be in another room entirely. Ground the POW and hit it. You will then find that all coins fall, including the Third Star Coin.
From there, you will soon find a tilt platform that has the orange ring. Just stand to one side, tilt, then go to the other side and tilt again. You should have no problem getting all eight coins.
From there, it is to a tilt-platform that can be tilted upwards to get to the Goal.
From here, it is about getting Yoshi. Remember that you get a 1UP with every 5 berries he eats, so get as many as you can.
You will soon approach the area where the First Star Coin is quite obvious. Fortunately, Yoshi can make this jump with ease. Just get to the point where he hovers, and it is yours.
Eventually, you will get to a point where you will find some multi-colored pipes with chomping plants. The yellow one is not quite what it seems. If you go on the second pipe with the chomping plant (while it is not out chomping, of course) you can go to the right into a secret cave. In the cave are lots of coins and the Second Star Coin.
Soon you will reach a spot with a fire-breathing chomper plant. If you look above it, and there is a secret cave. There is a tiny grassy area sticking out of there. Yoshi should be able to get there.
If you fly Yoshi or you in a propeller cap up there, you can actually fly higher to a secret level. This will end with the goal, so you don’t want to do that just yet.
Instead, head through this cave to get to the Third Star Coin. Yoshi should be able to hover out there to get it.
Go ahead and use that secret level up there to exit out, and use Yoshi to get to the top of the goal.
You will then have a Warp cannon that will take you all the way to World 5 if you wish. You will see it on the Map Screen.
Here you will find that you must go up constantly rising rocks in order to get anywhere. You will notice the First Star Coin when you reach a certain area with a swinging chandelier. The trick is to go to where it swings, jump on the rock sliding to the wall, and then to the level above it. You might want to get a Propeller hat if you are having a hard time with this.
Okay, directly this area is one where you will see some rocks sliding left and right with coins in the middle. This will be on the left, but you will want to go right. Use the chandelier to get there, and jump off the walls to go higher. You will find a secret area which will hold the Second Star Coin. If you hit the midway point, then you have gone too far. You might need to star the level again.
The one big obstacle next is some crushing rocks. I found it was easier not to jump on these rocks one at a time, but kick off them. That worked very well to get up before they crushed me.
The Third Star Coin you will see in an area that is difficult to get to, because the chandelier does not swing in that direction without going through a small hole. What you have to do is use the first chandelier and then kick jump off of the walls to get higher. By the way, there is a gap down and to the right of this coin. If you can Ground Pound on it, a 1UP is waiting.
Eventually, you will come to a point where there is an orange ring. Go ahead and use it, and the triple layer chandelier will line up. You can collect the eight coins to get your bonus.
When you get up to the top, it is time to defeat the big boss. He is actually pretty easy. What you have to do is jump on him, and he will become a spinning shell. Don’t let him touch you, at all! The best time to attack is when he is swinging his wand, and he will then let his guard down for you to jump on him. After three times of jumps on his head, he will be dead.
This is one of my least favorite levels, because I hate swimming. You will need an Ice Flower to get to all the hidden treasures here.
For example, as you swim past this one area with three coins and two downward shooting pipes, there will be this area of land that you can’t jump up and get to. However, if you freeze a fish so it floats near this, you can jump up here. This will trigger a hidden orange ring, and you can get the eight coins to get a bonus.
It is easy if you have the Ice Flower, as you can get rid of the fish in your way, but it is hard to swim and shoot at the same time. It is easier with the Nunchuk attached. Anyway, you will eventually come to a point after swimming past lots of fish where you will see some pipe jutting out to the upper left, with the First Star Coin. You will need to freeze a fish or pointy Sea urchin, and then jump on the ice as it is on the water’s surface. You can then shoot the red fish in front of the Star Coin, and jump on the iced fish to get the coin itself.
Okay, you will see the Second Star Coin that is in the middle of some downward shooting pipes. What you have to do is shoot some fish that pass under them and between the pipes. As the ice rises, you can ride it up and get this coin.
As for the Third Star Coin, you will find it down and to the left. If you freeze the sea urchin guarding it, you can travel underneath him, and get to the coin.
While you are there, use the green pipe and go to another level where there is gold coins and two 1UPs. There is also a star here too.
Nothing to do but swim until you get to the pipe, and then the Goal.
Okay, let’s start by getting through the cubes. They are tricky. Now, you will need to get the propeller hat located by the second question block. You can then use it to ride up, and you will see some blocks here. What you have to do is run, slide underneath these blocks and jump. This will cause a vine to grow, and you can climb it to your next goal. Whatever you do, don’t Ground Pound these, that will cause the vine to grow down, and it will be useless. Instead, go to the area that will have the First Star Coin.
When you get back down, keep going to the right, and you will see the Second Star Coin at the tail end of a big green cube. You should be able to snag it and jump at the last minute to get to where you need to go, even without the propeller hat.
You will come to a place that requires some round about movement. There are some dotted line circles. If you touch that, they will become coins, but they must be touched again.
There are some upper areas that the propeller hat can get to, and there are lots of coins there as a reward.
Keep going on the cubes, and you will see the Third Star Coin. The only way to reach it is with the propeller hat.
You can then use the Propeller hat to get up to the Goal as high as possible.
Just to let you know, there is a flying turtle there. If you take it out, and then take the shell and go to the rolling field, the shell will do you a lot of coin collecting.
You will see the First Star Coin in a rolling field area. You can really only get it with a propeller hat. If you don’t have one, then you should probably start the level with a Propeller hat obtained from a Toad House.
That, or go forward to this one area that will cause a vine to grow. This block is located a little after the star coin. Climb it until you will find a random bonus box. Hopefully you will get a propeller hat. That actually worked for me, once.
Anyway, the Second Star Coin is on an island, in the midst of some pipes. You can’t miss it. You probably don’t need a propeller hat to get it, but it helps.
The Third Star Coin is located just before the Midway Flag. Just follow the Goombas on the rolling field, and you will see a cave. Take the pipe down, and there will be another rolling rock thing. You will find the Star Coin in the corner, and you’ll probably need a propeller helmet to get it. Watch out for Goombas here, as they can take you down a notch and so you won’t have your propeller helmet.
As you go on, there is a block that has a 1UP. It is hard to get without getting rolled away. You’ll understand what I mean when you get there.
From there, it is two rolling things to the Goal.
World 1 Castle
Once again, Lava, and Dry Bones, who never die. Fortunately, and Ice Flower can change all that.
You will see the First Star Coin right after a big gear. You can ride this gear to the top, and get a platform full of coins, and then jump right on top of this star coin. It works.
Shortly after that, there is this one area that allows you to ride a gear to the top. There will be a room full of coins, along with two 1Ups. It will have a Propeller hat so you can get both.
The last jump before the Midway point is a little tricky, but do-able.
From here, it becomes Thwomp land. You need to trigger them first, and then they are easy to deal with. The first two Thwomps some hidden blocks that you can trigger, so you should do that for some protection.
You will come to one that must smash a barrier to get the Second Star Coin. When it goes up, dive in, and then duck. Wait for it to rise, and jump out.
That’s good advice for the next few Thwomps. There is an orange ring here, and might be able to gather all 8 coins by running quick, but that higher one was a doozy to get. You’ll see what I mean.
Just before the doorway to the final battle, there are some gears, and one must be ridden in a specific way to get to a green pipe. From there, you can use that pipe to get to a hidden area. This will turn coins into blocks and vice versa. You will only have one chance to run on the blocks, and kick jump off the wall to get the Third Star Coin. That’s it. On your way out, you can find a block to get a Fire Flower.
From here, it is a lot like the Fortress. You just jump on this guy three times, and he goes out. About the only difference here is that the ground will shift, and the turtle shell will bounce around a bit. It makes it a little hard to target him as well.
