New Years Mad Lib Game

Mad lib games are a whole lot of fun to bring out at a party. You are guaranteed allot of laughter when creative minds are put together to complete the story, often times a wacky story.

Just have your guests brush up on their English and next thing you'll know, words will be flying everywhere.

Encourage them to be creative because that will make the story more exciting and funny.

Note: In the parentheses is the cue to ask for a person, noun, action verb, number etc.



" New Years Eve With The Friends "


One New Years eve a group of __________(adjective) friends sat in front of a campfire discussing their New Years resolutions. ____________ (person's name) said, " I'll go first." He/She cleared his/her throat and began, " What I most want to accomplish is a hidden dream that I've not shared with anyone. To hold myself accountable to make sure it gets done I'll share it with you all. My dream is to go to the foreign land of __________ (travel destination) to feed the hungry and pass out ________ (noun) to all less fortunate. I will need to raise funds so hopefully I can raise ________($amount) by __________ (month)."

The group of friends began wiping ________(plural n) from their ___________ ( body part) after such a inspiring dream was shared.

Then ________________ (a couple's name) stepped up and said, " We'll be next. We are so excited to share this, we are going to have a baby this year." The group began ____________(action verb) and applauding.

When things calmed, _______________(person) spoke up and said, " I resolve to start eating healthy. My diet will consist mostly of _________(food type), ___________(food type) and _____________(drink type) to drink. I hope to lose ________ ( number) of pounds each month." Everyone was surprised at such an inspiring lifestyle change that they decided to start keeping their ________(noun) healthy. Everyone wants a skinny __________ (body part).

Then __________________(a couple) stood, took each other's hands and said, "This is the year that our ____________(adjective) house will finally get remodeled. We will be completely renovating ________(number) rooms. We are so excited about the changes we'll make in the __________(room in house). We will be painting the ___________(room in house) a lovely __________(color) and adding wallpaper with __________(plural noun) designs on it. They were so happy they reached over and __________(verb ending in ed) each other.

As the clock struck midnight the group acted like a bunch of ______________(plural noun) and started __________(action verb), assured that this was going to be the best year ever.

Tip

Sometimes in a big group it is hard to keep everyone's attention while you are trying to complete mad lib story. Splitting everyone in two groups and having each group come up with something to fill the blank will help you speed the process. Tell them to think outside the box to ensure the story is exciting.

When you have the complete story make sure you have their attention (you might read over once to make sure you don't mess up the story flow since their will be very wacky word combinations. Prepare to laugh and laugh, these simple little word games have livened lots of parties :)

New Years Party Mix

6 TBS butter 3 cups Rice Chex cereal

2 TBS Worcestershire sauce 3 cups Wheat Chex cereal

1 1/2 tsp seasoned salt 1 cup nuts

3/4 tsp garlic powder 1 cup pretzels

1/2 tsp onion powder 1 cup of bagel chips

3 cups Corn Chex cereal


Heat oven to 250 degrees. Melt butter in a large roasting pan in oven. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, garlic powder, onion powder. Gradually stir in remaining ingredients until evenly coated. Bake 1 hour stirring every 15 minutes. Spread on paper towels or parchment paper to cool. Store in airtight containers.

This is great when you are having a party and everyone gets the munchies. It is also a low-fat, healthy alternative to buttery popcorn and chips. Just stick it in a large serving bowl and watch it disappear. Much better than store-bought and fresher. Also nice to make ahead for work and school lunches by putting it in zip lock bags.
