Maybe you've just arrived in Nimbasa City and you want to get the lay of the land before you try out the gym. Maybe you've already trounced the gym and want to look around before you move on. Maybe you're just returning here after beating the rest of the game, having not noticed this little route. Regardless of the circumstances, you'll find Route 16 if you go out the northeast tunnel in Nimbasa City. It's worth the trip.

If you haven't checked out the tunnel before, talk to the baseball player near the entrance for a Macho Brace. Then head through the tunnel and out onto the road. The first thing you'll encounter is a trainer.

Depot Agent Hank

  • Drilbur, level 25

Reward: 1000 Pokedollars

Carry on down the road. You'll probably notice a trainer on a bike zipping around, and he'll attack if he sees you.

Cyclist Hector

  • Tranquill, level 25

Reward: 800 Pokedollars

You'll see an entrance to the forest to your north. Ignore it for now and continue east to find two trainers waiting at the side of the road.

Backers Stu & Art

  • Scraggy, level 24
  • Scraggy, level 24

Reward: 1152 Pokedollars

A little further past here you'll see yet another cyclist.

Cyclist Krissa

  • Whirlipede, level 25

Reward: 800 Pokedollars

Past this cyclist and a little ways north is the tunnel away from the route. Check the guy beside the vending machine for a Fresh Water, then talk to the girl in front of the elevator. You'll learn that it's broken - and it won't be fixed any time soon. Dead end for this path. Head back to Route 16.

Beside the paired trainers you'll see a giant rock. If one of your pokémon has and uses Strength, you can push that rock into the hole just to the north and gain access to the dark grass beyond. A ways up this path you'll also encounter a trainer.

Backpacker Blossom

  • Liepard, level 25

Reward: 600 Pokedollars

Aside from being a decent training spot, there's also a TinyMushroom hidden on the empty square at the far north of this short path, and if you check to the east, beside the fence, you'll find TM66 Payback.

Return to the road and head down to the lighter tall grass leading north. It leads to another backpacker.

Backpacker Ivan

  • Watchog, level 25

Reward: 600 Pokedollars

To the backpacker's left is a tree you can Cut down. Do so and you'll find a Heal Ball tucked at the back of this short path. Backtrack, then keep following the path through the trees to the northeast. They'll lead you to Lostlorn Forest.

Welcome to a tiny slice of weirdness which, unfortunately, you can't fully explore just yet - though what's available now is more than worth the detour. Immediately to the north of you is a breeder; walk up and get into a fight.

Pokémon Breeder Galen

  • Tranquill, level 24
  • Liepard, level 24

Reward: 768 Pokedollars

In a small tree stump ahead is an Ultra Ball. Grab it, then head north around the stump. You'll see a conspicuous green lump ahead, and under it is a trainer.

Pokémon Ranger Serenity

  • Trubbish, level 26

Reward: 1560 Pokedollars, Pecha Berry

Head north and into the larger field. There's another ranger on patrol whom you can battle.

Pokémon Ranger Forrest

  • Emolga, level 26

Reward: 1560 Pokedollars, Cheri Berry

That's all the trainers out of the way. Now you can explore... though there isn't a heck of a lot to explore in this part of the woods. Go east from the ranger to find a Net Ball on the ground, then head west to the other side of the woods. You'll find a backpacker who will ask you about the pokémon Zoroark. Whatever you answer, he will give you a TM95 Snarl, then walk away... and reveal a bit of a surprise. Oh my. After he's gone, go south of where you saw him and stand on the patch of dirt amid the grass. To the right of it is a hidden Leaf Stone.

As mentioned, that's all you can do here for now. The rest of Lostlorn Forest will have to wait until you have both Surf and Waterfall... though for the moment you can take advantage of the green grass and try to hunt down some Audino, as well as the rest of the pokémon living in here. There are some really neat ones that are worth catching if you have the patience.
