Whether or not you decided to explore Terminus Cave, you'll ultimately take shelter in little Couriway Town. A lovely burg, Couriway is one of the last peaceful stops between now and the final stages of the game. Prepare yourself for the final stretch, as it's coming soon...!

Couriway Town

- First up is the Pokémon Center. There is... absolutely... nothing in here. Yay? First time for everything. If nothing else you can find a Pretty Wing in the flowery bush just across the street from the Center.

- There's a bush near the Pokémon Center containing a hidden Pretty Wing.

- Next to the Pokémon Center and up a flight of stairs is a train stop. A woman here will give you TM 89, U-Turn. You'll also find a Rare Candy here, at the end of the platform. Check the corner of the fencing at the top of the first set of stairs leading up here to find an Ether. You can also find a secret message from Sycamore on the right bench.

- In front of the bottom bench by the waterside is a Burn Heal.

- Heal up before you try to head across the bridge, as Sycamore's about to show up... and challenge you to a battle.

Pokémon Professor Sycamore

Venusaur, level 50

Blastoise, level 50

Charizard, level 50

Reward: $7,000

Ooo, brutal team, right there. All three pokémon are quite strong, and have powerful moves to match. Target their weaknesses while simultaneously sending out pokémon that will resist their attacks. Alternatively, send out something that's resistant to grass-type moves and have it boost its stats with moves like Swords Dance. You'll be ready to thrash the other two once Venusaur goes down.

- After Sycamore's gone, enter the house to your left on the other side of the bridge. a girl inside will quiz you about your starter pokémon. Answer her two questions correctly for a Mystic Water, a Miracle Seed or a Charcoal. (Thanks for verifying these, kind commenters!)

- Climb the stairs to your right. There's a photo spot at the time, and beside it...

- ... the Couriway Hotel. A girl in the lobby will ask you a question; answer 'Water' for TM 55, Scald. Upstairs another girl will give you a Relax Ribbon, and, hey, there's Mr. Bonding with another O-Power.

- Beside the Hotel is a man who will sell you Fresh Water for $300. He'll give you an Oran Berry for the purchase. Behind him, by the waterfalls, is a Max Potion.

- Check the small island amid the flowing water from the waterfalls for a Prism Scale.

Route 19 - Grand Vallee Way

- Straight ahead is your first trainer. To the right of her, in a rock, is a Net Ball.

Hex Maniac Josette

Pumpkaboo, level 50

Pumpkaboo, level 50

Reward: $1,600

Your run of the mill ghost- and grass-type pokemon. Exploit either weakness. Neither of them are difficult.

- Wade through the flowers to the right. A Sky Trainer battle is waiting.

Sky Trainer Sera

Noctowl, level 50

Aerodactyl, level 52

Reward: $5,200

Noctowl is barely worth mentioning. Aerodactyl, by contrast, can murder flying-types with Stone Edge. It's much recommended that you bring in a pokemon with Levitate inside. If you have to straight-up fight the thing, ice-, water- or electric-type attacks are good choices.

- There's a flower field just south of the Sky Trainer. Check the bottom-right corner where the flowers end for an Antidote.

- Go down the stairs to the west. You'll find a patrolling trainer.

Fairy Tale Girl Lovelyn

Mr. Mime, level 49

Azumarill, level 49

Aromatisse, level 49

Reward: $1,568

A fairly normal assortment of fairy-types. Nothing amazing, though be wary of sending poison-types in to do super effective damage. Mr. Mime is an obvious psychic-type, and Aromatisse HAS Psychic.

- Hop north along the stepping stones nearby to reach the Max Revive in the middle. (You can also use this path to skip the previous trainer completely.)

- Ignore the bridge for now and backtrack a little ways to the stairs to the north. Descend them to the swamp. (Note: Everything in the swamp is optional, though it takes you to a nice TM. That said, you may want to continue across the bridge anyway, and come back once you've made it to the next town and can use Fly.)

- Surf south. You'll find a pair of trainers waiting.

Rangers Ivy & Orrick

Tauros, level 53

Miltank, level 53

Reward: $8,480

Man, always pairing these two together. Tauros is the more annoying, as it loves to confuse your pokemon with Swagger, putting you at risk of suicide. Bring in at least one fighting-type and focus both of your pokemon on Tauros. Miltank is only a serious threat if you use an extremely fast pokemon, as it has Gyro Ball, and even then you aren't too likely to have something weak to a steel-type move.

- West of them is another trainer in the water. Wade south of her after the battle for a Rare Bone.

Swimmer Coral

Stunfisk, level 52

Reward: $832

Man. What were they thinking with this pokemon...?

- Wade back north. Ahead is a trainer.

Pokemon Ranger Clementine

Alomomola, level 54

Reward: $4,320

All Alomomola has going for it is a ton of HP and decent defenses. Unless you deploy something weak to water-type moves, though, this shouldn't be a troublesome fight.

- Continue north until you're Surfing. Beside a set of stairs is a trainer.

Pokemon Ranger Ambre

Emolga, level 51

Grumpig, level 51

Reward: $4,080

Nothing special here. Emolga's a pain thanks to Static.

- Head north. There's a giant block to move into a hole with Strength. Push it down one square from the north, then right, then up into line with the hole. Beyond is a Toxic Plate.

- Climb the stairs by the trainer. Past a field of flowers is a PP Up.

- Cross the bridge to the west. Yep, another trainer.

Pokemon Ranger Shinobu

Zangoose, level 51

Beartic, level 51

Reward: $4,080

Zangoose is a bit of a surprise with X-Scissor, especially if paired with Swords Dance. Beartic is not quite so oddball, and will usually try to hit you with Blizzard. A fighting-type is ideal either way.

- East of the trainer is a Yache Berry tree. Up the stairs to your right is TM 36, Sludge Bomb.

- Enough offroading. Make your way back out of the swamp, the way you came. Cross the bridge. When you get partway across, a familiar face will show up and battle you. (Don't try to cross unless you have a decently-healed team - you're facing multiple battles right here.)

Pokemon Trainer Shauna

Delcatty, level 49

Goodra, level 49

Greninja / Delphox / Chesnaught, level 51

Reward: $5,100

Poor Shauna. She's gotten much stronger since your last fight, way back in Aquacorde Town, but she's not bound to be a huge threat. Delcatty is only good for stalling, Goodra is a middling threat, and her starter will always, ALWAYS be weak to your starter.

- And then...

Pokemon Trainer Tierno

Talonflame, level 48

Roserade, level 49

Crawdaunt, level 52

Reward: $5,200

No Ludicolo? So much for dancing. Tierno isn't that difficult. Talonflame is strong and fast but very frail; Roserade is about the same; aaaand Crawdaunt is about the same, except slower. Crawdaunt can hit really hard after a Swords Dance dose, though, so try to knock it out in one hit.

- And then...

Pokemon Trainer Trevor

Raichu, level 49

Aerodactyl, level 49

Florges, level 51

Reward: $5,100

Yikes, triple threat. Trevor is a little more dangerous since Raichu will spam Thunderbolt to start, but it's relatively easy to knock out with a ground-type. Aerodactyl is always a threat, but ice-type moves will wipe it out. Florges spends too much time setting up to really threaten you.

- After beating the trio you'll receive HM 05, Waterfall.

- Continue across the bridge. Check the top-right corner of the flower field for a hidden Timer Ball. Keep going and you'll soon be in Snowbelle City. Woo!

Return Trip

Couriway Town

- In the south of town there's a waterfall you can climb once you teach one of your pokemon Waterfall. At the top is TM 80, Rock Slide. (Thanks to Rangil for pointing out what's up the waterfall.)

- After upgrading your Mega Ring, visit the waterfalls near the Hotel between 8 and 9 PM. There's a Gyaradosite gleaming away at the base of one of the waterfalls.

Chespin was my starter and I got Miracle Seed.

For the TM Scald, I didn't have water but Kelp was the right answer for me.

Cool, thanks. I'm betting the fire-type starter gets Charcoal. Can anybody verify?

Not sure what to do about that question. I think you can redo it if you fail, so... hum.

Jake 3 years ago

I chose the fire starter and can confirm the charcoal.

Jake 3 years ago

Also, the professor mentions having hidden an item in the city somewhere. Any idea what that is and where?

Cool. Thanks for the tip.

As for the item, I'm not entirely sure yet. If you pull out the Dowsing Machine and check the train station you'll find a message from the Professor when he was a child on one of the benches. I'm not sure if that's the item itself or just a clue; either way, haven't found anything more substantial yet. I'm thinking there might be something up the waterfall on the edge of town, but... yeah. Once I finish the eighth gym and can go up waterfalls, I'll give it a look.

Linore 3 years ago

Hi. You missed one cool Easter egg that is worth mentioning. If you go down two tiles and right one from the rare candy, there is a letter from the past Professor Sycamore to the future Professor Sycamore. I thought it was a nice touch.

Thanks for these, helpful as always. :)

Ha ha, yeah, I mentioned that in my previous comment, actually. I don't know if it's a clue or just an easter egg, so I decided to leave it out until I was sure. Can't decide if it's the 'item' he says you should find or just a hint for finding it. Probably just an easter egg, but, I'll wait until I'm positive.

Rangii 3 years ago

I think the "surprise gift" the Professor said he left you is the TM Rock Climb. It's up the waterfall.

Mahid 3 years ago

There was no girl in the upstairs of the hotel... so I couldn't find the Relax Ribbon

Xian120 3 years ago

I ran into a horde of level 24 Gligar in the purple flowers by the Fairy Trainer.

Jo 3 years ago

Did you ever encounter a primeape or mankey?

TurdFace 3 years ago

"A girl in the lobby will ask you a question; answer 'Water' for TM 55, Scald."

In X, the question was ""What does a li'l Skrelp disguise itself as to find potential prey?" Answer was Kelp

Jake 3 years ago

My level 60 Greninja OHKO'd Venusaur with extrasensory and Charizard with hydro pump

Ds123 3 years ago

I think the hidden item is the gyradosite. It can be found by the three small waterfalls between 8 pm and 9 pm.

Bk Moe 3 years ago

Ds123 is right you get gyradosite but after beating the champ

Bk Moe 3 years ago

you forgot after you beat Fairy Tale Girl Lovelyn, if you go south into the flower, you should find HP Up

Dmoney 3 years ago

If you show the girl in the house by the PokeCenter a pokemon with the move nuzzle (ie. dedenne), she gives out a revive

goldstara22 3 years ago

well the system is on japanese time so wake up at 6am and do it my megacharizardx defeated all of them by the way

Koganei 3 years ago

Hidden Pokeball (lolz, what's up with that GameFREAK?) in the train station.

The rock/tombstone next to Ranger Clementine has a hidden Escape Rope.

val 3 years ago

There is a poke ball hidden between the two benches at the station plaform

vhayste 3 years ago

I think the girl in Couriway Hotel gives different questions. Mine was "What disguise does Skrelp does to approach its prey" and the answer is "Kelp". I got TM55 Scald too.

I don't know if anybody's ever mentioned this, but...

Every place that you can get a Pretty Wing? Come back a couple of days later. There'll be another Pretty Wing. I've been taking a break from Victory Road and running back through the entire game, grabbing pokemon I missed on my first initial rush, and I've found a Pretty Wing in every single place that I'd already grabbed one before.

Playing X, unknown for Y.

Yep, quite true. It's also true for Honey. Thanks for pointing it out - when I get a minute I'll find somewhere to stick that in the guide.

"If you pull out the Dowsing Machine and check the train station you'll find a message from the Professor when he was a child on one of the benches."

Actually, the hidden item there is a PokeBall that's right between the benches. The hidden message itself doesn't get picked up by the ItemFinder (I prefer the old school name for this, haha).

Max 3 years ago

On the close end of the right bench of the train station in couriway town, on the left of the bench there is a hidden poke ball. Accidentally found it looking for sycamore's message. Not very useful, but it's there if you want it.

StarlightAT 3 years ago

Just to let you know I found a hidden pokeball between the benches at the top of the train platform!

Ruth 2 years ago

Single Weepinbells also show up on Route 19.

ash 2 years ago

you can find damp rock east to the ranger couple hidden by two leaves

Pokemon x fan 2 years ago

There is a girl in the house right before the bridge with scaymore and if you demonstrate nuzzle for her, she will give you a revive

Me! 2 years ago

Theres a hidden pokeball between the two benches at the Train Station.
