Panasonic, Samsung and Sony have joined together with Xpand of Europe for the development of a common 3D active glass with Bluetooth facility for TVs and PCs. Revenue from mobile and online games will be around $33 billion in 2013, overtaking the console game revenue for the first time. Sony is planning to invest $4 million in Tamil film songs market during the current year. It has already got 25 Tamil albums. Already several of the Tamil movies starred by the popular hero Rajnikant like ‘Muthu’, ‘Padayappa’ and ‘Basha’ among others have captured the fancy of Japanese people with their Japanese subtitles. No wonder, Tamil songs are becoming an increasing hit in Japan. Music industry’s revenues will be driven in future by digital downloads. Already it is happening. It is accounting for nearly half of music industry’s revenue and the share is bound to rise in future. Sony is well placed to capitalise on this trend.
