This is just like when you faced the boss the first time, but you will only have one life. It isn't too difficult.
If you need a review, here's what you do. Get the Fire Flower, and hit him in the mouth when he roars. He will go down, but after a while, he will sprout cannons on his shoulders. Keep getting Fire Flowers and make certain that you can shove fireballs down his throat.
Octo-Army Icy Rainbow Romp
Okay, this one requires you to take the Star Launcher, and then go to the ice rink. Your assignment is to then get rainbow stars and take out all of the Octo-Army guys.
Even though you only have 50 seconds to do this, I didn't find this one very difficult. It probably is better to go on one side, work that, and then work it on the other side. That, or you can do a "spiral method" and work on an outer circle and go in.
Go on and get the Star when you are done. Once again, you will lose a life if you don't complete this one. If you see that you won't succeed, just Exit to Starship Mario and start the level again.

Boomsday Machine Daredevil Run
Okay, this is just like before, accept you start out at the end of this level, facing off with that killer machine.
Here is a little review of how to kill it. Go ahead and grab one of those cloud mushrooms that hang out by those vertical wind tunnels or around the spinning flame thing.
You can then use the cloud mushroom to fly upward to the top of the machine. Watch out for the cannons that fire light, which will destroy the clouds that you fly on. They will also hit you, and kill you since you only have one life.
I found that it was pretty easy to make a cloud, float up on the wind tunnel, and then get another cloud mushroom. You can then use long jumps to go further, and then use the clouds to get up to the top of Bowser Jr.'s big death machine. Do a ground pound on the glass, and that is one hit.
Now, there is an interesting thing that happens as the machine will charge up, and this is not a good time to hit the thing on top. However, it does suck clouds toward it like a vacuum, and you can use that to your advantage. However, long jumps and cloud mushrooms will take this to the next level.
After the second hit, the machine sprouts tank treads. I'd say don't get run over, but it is pretty slow. Don't get hit by the spikes. You will have to get higher to get to the top of this thing, and you will have to stay above it if it is electrically charged. You will defeat it, and you can get the star.
