The Dark Knight Rises Lego Sets - Batman Release Dates, TDKR Prices

Updated on February 3, 2013

If you are looking for information about new The Dark Knight Rises Lego sets then you are in the right place. Here we will check out some new Batman sets based on The Dark Knight Rises movie. We will tell you about release dates, prices and where you can buy these online. Plus we will tell you everything you need to know about the latest Batman Lego toys that have been released from the DC Universe Super Heroes theme.

In the summer of 2012 The Dark Knight Rises finally hits our screens. This is the long awaited follow up to The Dark Knight and it sees Batman in his darkest role to date. Back in 2011 Lego teamed up with DC Universe to strike a deal which would see them produce a large array of new Batman Lego sets. Some of these would be based on the new film The Dark Knight Rises. So let’s have a look and see what Lego we are going to be offered.

The Bane Minifigure

The Dark Knight Rises Lego Sets

So first of all it is important to realise that not all of the new Batman sets that came out at the start of 2012 really tie in with the movie The Dark Knight Rises. For instance there were a few toys that had characters such as the Joker and the Riddler as minifigures, characters that do not feature in the new movie, so we could really say these have little or nothing to do with the film. There were however some sets released in January 2012 that do feature characters from the film.

The first of these was The Batcave. This is remake of the old Lego Batcave and this one has been brought up to date. It has the Lego item number 6860 and features 690 pieces. With a price of around $70 this is quite a large set with plenty going on. The thing that ties it to The Dark Knight Rises is the inclusion of Bane. You also get the minifigures Batman, Robin, Poison Ivy and Bruce Wayne. The main part of the set is obviously the Batcave, but Bane also has his very own drill which he uses to break into the Batcave. Sceptics may say this set is not related to the movie but the fact is that it does include a nice minifigure of Bain and as we know Bain is the evil villain in TDKR.

The second set released in early 2012 that could well be seen as a TDKR themed set is Catwoman Catcycle City Chase. This one has the item number 6858 and comes with 89 pieces and is priced at around $12. This obviously features Catwoman as one of the minifigures and as she features in The Dark Knight Rises you could once again argue that this one is tied to the movie. To be honest this is not the best set, all you get is a little Catcycle and lamp post. If you want to get your hands on a Catwoman minifigure though, this could be a good way to do it.

New Batman Sets To Coincide With The Release Of TDKR

If you came here looking for brand new sets to be released in the summer of 2012 then fear not. It is expected that Lego will be releasing a least one set that is based on The Dark Knight Rises. Chances are they are keeping their cards close to their chest in order to avoid any plot spoilers that would give away parts of the actual film. We have no definite release date for this new set and there may well in fact be more than one new set we are getting. Soon as we get word of forthcoming The Dark Knight Rises Lego sets we will post all the details here including prices and where you can buy online.

As you have probably now realised Lego did not release any more Batman sets over the summer of 2012. This was quite a surprise to us, however they have revealed that 2013 will see more new Batman sets and one of these will indeed be based on TDKR. One set is going to include Mr Freeze and Aquaman but the one we are interested in is the Batman Chase With Tumbler set. This has the item number 76001 and will indeed feature Bane. So a good looking new set, when we get more details and a picture of this we will put it up. We expect it to be released early 2013.

Although no set were released over the summer we did get a few polybags brought out. A polybag toy is basically a very small build that comes in a small bag, Lego have brought out lots of these in the past from many different series. The two new Batman ones we will be getting are going to be a Jetski and a mini Batmobile. These both look really nice and obviously will be far cheaper than buying the larger sets.

The Dark Knight Rises is set for release in July of 2012. We fully expect Lego to release more Batman Lego sets over 2013 and no doubt some of these will be based on The Dark Knight Rises. This film looks set to be one of the biggest box office hits of the year so we are convinced that Lego would not want to miss such an opportunity to bring out new toys. All we can do now is look forward to the upcoming releases and if past toys are anything to go by then we will not be disappointed with what we are going to be getting.
