Tier 1

Follow Illuminati Symbols

The first step is to check your journal, as you are provided with a hint image to get you started. You'll find that the picture is of one of the manhole covers seen just outside the church. Also, the picture shows the manhole cover right way up, which allows you to use the manhole cover as an arrow, pointing you in the right direction.

Head outside the church and find the first manhole cover, pointing you down Main St, where you'll find another every few seconds, continuing down the road till you reach the interesection with Belmont Avenue. Here you'll see the manhole cover point left to the next one which then points right, taking you down to the end of the eastern pier.

Keep following the covers until around the end of the pier, you'll find the last cover pointing to some cardboard box piles, which if you search around, you'll find an Illuminati plaque which you should inspect to get your next clue.

Examine The Plaque

Pretty simple, since you're given this right as you reach the plaque itself. Just right click to see the next image you'll be taking clues from, discussed further below.

Tier 2

Find the location referenced in the message.

So there are actually a few different items that are referenced in the message.

In the seat of power1, the navigator immortalized2
Illuminating the path3
To the sleeping priest and fletcher4

In the first part of the hint, reference 1, you get the clue as to the next location where you are tasked with going to. You are to travel to what could be considered the seat of power within the city.

**********

This seat of power in this city, and really any small town, is the Town Hall, the seat of government in the area. This is where you'll need to head to next, which can be easily seen on the map, midway up Main St.

When you enter the first room of the town hall, the lobby like area, you'll notice a number of paintings hung up on the walls, all of which can be inspected. Avoid randomly clicking on portraits, as the wrong one here can send you on an unnecessary detour. The picture you are looking for here is referenced in #2.

"In the seat of power, the navigator immortalized"

Since we are now, inside the seat of power, the next part of the hint reading the navigator immortalized hints at which picture to check, since any person place or thing in a painting is in a sense, immortalized. Navigator should clue you in to the content of your picture as well. If you need another clue, it would also be helpful to look at the 3 symbols on the plaque you inspected earlier, and look for any of the symbols represented in the paintings,

The painting you are looking for is to the right of the door which leads to the second level, of the man in a blue outfit, holding a feathered pen with navigator tools on his desk.

When you inspect this picture you are given a second set of clues.

Time is the province of Kings and Gods. The hands of time1 point to truths written by kings2 in the words of God3. The path is open to the enlightened.

Before you leave the Town Hall, or scroll further, think about the hint in reference 1, "The hands of time" and see if you notice anything odd.

Tier 3

Find the Next Hidden Location

Did you notice how the clocks around the Town Hall (hands of time) are all set to the time 10:10? This is an important clue to half of this next objective. Keep a mental note of this as it will come up again real soon.

Now it's time to look at the clues for where the next destination is. If you look at the original set of clues you got from the plaque you can start breaking things down. You were in the Town Hall or seat of power in the city, where you found the immortalized picture of the navigator, who helped illuminate the path with the next set of hints, To the sleeping priest and fletcher.

This last part of the clue, italicized, still hasn't been put to use yet, so think about what that could be referencing. Particularly, the first half, the sleeping priest.

What this hint is telling you, is to go where the priest sleeps, or his house rather, which is actually right next to the church. If you take a look at the sign outside his house, you can find an Illuminati Eye on the board, giving another clue as to the special nature of the building. If you search around the rear entrance of the house, you'll find a secure keypad attached to a cellar entrance.

Some more sleuthing is needed to figure out the code, using the remaining bits of the hints collected so far. Using the fact that the clocks are pointed at 10:10 and jumping back to earlier when, "The hands of time, point to truths written by kings in the words of god. The path is opened to the enlightened."

Currently the path is closed to us, and we must enlighten ourselves to the answer to open said path. This combined with "words of god" tells you you need to look up some details about religion to uncover more info.

****************

The hands of time, or the clocks, pointed to 10:10, right? Which are also the right numbers to be a verse of the bible, but there are many versions. The last hint comes from "written by kings" as Kings is one of the books of the bible. If you do a google search on Kings 10:10 you can find this page.

****************

Check out the first translation, the New International one, and you'' find a number hidden within the text, 120. This is the code you need to enter in to the keypad.

Tier 4

Use the Computer

Now that you're in the cellar of the priest's house, you have to use the computer in the far end of the room. If you open it up, you'll find you need to enter in a password. You have the option of receiving a hint, which comes out as, As the famous Solomon Priest once said "Light conquers all."

Think about the part in quotes and consider what language the Illuminati like to write their messages in.

*********

The Illuminati like to use latin in their puzzles a lot.

If you translate the phrase "Light conquers all" into Latin, you'll find it becomes Lux Omnia Vincit, the same message that was on the manholes earlier. Enter this in as the password to acccess the computer, then select Access Secure Artifacts.

+26,880 XP (First Time)
+6,720 XP (Repeated)

Tier 5

Collect the Eye, Pryamid & Phoenix Artifact

Technically 3 different objectives, combined into one here since they are all really simple, just requiring you grab each of the three artifacts that are revealed by the secret door that slid away from the wall to the right of the computer.

No more problem solving here, just grab the items to complete the mission.

+6,720 XP (Repeated)

What are you thoughts on the style of slowly walking through hints rather than directly going to solutions for this guide?

  • Fine the way it is.
  • The guide should be more direct about solutions, less explaining the hints.

Definitely stick with the gradual hinting with these. The investigation missions can be tough, sometimes, but they're also one of the most unique features of the game and a player really only gets to properly experience them once.

You don't really want to deny another player the 'I'm a freakin' genius!' feeling by just giving them the answers.
