The Awesomeness of The Sims 3 Ambitions Expansion Pack
The Sims 3 has a new expansion pack in the works, The Sims 3 Ambitions, and like World Adventures, it looks like it will be a game changing expansion. For the first time, instead of simply sending your sims off to work and waiting eight hours for them to come home so you can undertake fun in game chores like mopping the floor, Ambitions Expansion Pack will have you taking control of your sim whilst they are at work.
With Ambitions you can choose from exciting careers like Firefighter, Private Investigator, Interior Designer, Mad Scientist, Hairdresser, Ghost Hunter, and Tattoo Artist. I don't know about you, but I'm pretty damn excited about this newest expansion, which promises to genuinely expand The Sims 3 game play. In fact, if it is as good as it promises to be, you could probably call The Sims 3 Ambitions expansion pack a 'must have.'
Not only will you enjoy directing your sim as they do their job, but how they do their job can actually change the town you live in. Stylist sims can affect trends in your town, Architects can change the way the buildings look and other careers have similar resulting affects on your townsfolk.
The expansion pack will add new modes for each career, an Architectural Designer, for instance, has access to a variation of the Buy/ Build mode called renovation mode. The designer is given a budget and a list of requirements and then must use renovation mode to change the client's home to suit his or her needs. Similar options are available for each of the new professions. Are you bubbling over with excitement yet? I sure am.
EA is also promising a whole new host of talents, and if this expansion pack follows the same formula that World Adventures did, we can probably look forward to a bunch of new lifetime rewards, and hopefully, a few more personality traits as well. If The Sims 3 base game has a fault (and of course it does) it is that the game play quickly becomes very homogeneous because of the relatively few traits and pathways you have to choose from. The casual player may not agree, but people who invest many hours in the sims have been known to complain that traits like 'Hates Art' could certainly be improved upon or at the very least, added to.
Whilst the World Adventures expansion turned out to be interesting, but not at all integral to the game playing experience, Ambitions promises to weave itself into the very fabric of your game. I'm so excited for this expansion, which will be arriving in June, according to the official Sims site. Interesting that they only made mention of this in March, just two months before release. It doesn't give much time for the sort of build up that the World Adventures pack had before it was released, but nevertheless, I'm betting that Ambitions will be an expansion pack Sims 3 enthusiasts will be talking about for years to come.
