The Sims 3 Review

Updated on June 30, 2009

The Sims 3 is finally here!

The sims 3 was finally released on June 2 as promised. I'm sure I was one of the first ones to get the game since I was at Game Stop the moment they opened the doors at 10:00 am. After waiting for over a year since it was announced there would be a Sims 3, my anticipation of what to expect was through the roof. I have been a fan of the Sims for a long time and wasn't sure how they were going to make it better than it already was. But I have to say I was pleasently surprised at what I saw. The graphis are stunning which makes everything look even more alive and the Sims look even more real.

EA has done it again!

Like I said before, I wasnt sure how EA was going to make this game any better, but they came through once again. I've been playing since the first day it came out on June 2 and already I'm hooked. I don't know what it is about this game that has everyone glued to their computers,  but I'm right there with all the other Sims fans.

What exactly is a Sim?

If you are not familiar with the game, you as the player are controlling your sims life. You make them look exactly as you like, give them a personality, a name and move them into a house that ether came with the game or you can build it yourself. Personally I love to build my houses. There are so many things available to you to help you build the house of your dreams and when you're done with the outside you get to decorate the inside as well. Once you create your Sim and move them into their house then all you can do now is forget you ever had a life. You will be stunned at how time flies when playing the Sims.

Whats new in Create A Sim?

OK, here's the scoop, when the Sims 3 was first talked about I kept hearing news about all of the changes and upgrades of the game.  The first thing, and I'd say the most impressive was the way they talked about making the neighborhood one giant seamless world.  The second thing was if they were still going to use Bodyshop that was used in the Sims 2.  When the final word was out that they were not going to use the same create a sim I had mixed feeling about it.  Bodyshop was great!  How could they make it any better.  Well, I have to say that they did just that.  They changed the whole interface and added a ton of new features that allows you to create any face you want, even your own.  The sims look like real little people with softer curves.  The camera used has been upgraded so that you can zoom all the way in and change any facial feature imaginable such as eyes, nose, mouth, ears, cheeks, chin, and eyebrows.  You can make their body fat or skinny with muscles or not.

Personality and Traits

After you have finished your Sim, they are dressed and hair is done, then it's time to give them their own set of traits that will give them their own unique personality.  No sim is alike.  Their are 60 personality traits that are in the game for you to use.   Each age group has their own set of different traits and will change as they grow up.

Some of the traits are:

  • Friendly
  • frugal
  • excitable
  • flirty
  • evil
  • good sense of humor
  • great kisser
  • green thumb
  • commitment issues
  • charismatic
  • can't stand art
  • brave
  • ambitious
  • Artistic
  • bookworm
  • good
  • Evil
  • Neat
  • natural cook
  • Lucky

There are so many more to play around with and they are always going to have different reactions depending how you put them together.

My Sims 3 Review

All in all I give the Sims 3 a 9.5 out of 10!  EA out did themselves and deffinatly came through with their promise to make the Sims even Better. I can't wait for the expansion packs to start coming out. I hope you enjoy your Sims as much as I do.
