Fooooooood! Sims love to eat in The Sims 4 (and, well, all of the installments), and they inevitably need someone to do the cooking. Enter the Chefs and the Mixologists of The Sims, the thankless folks who prepare all those plates of food that your sims will ask for… and then ignore in favour of, oh, video games. Sigh, so much wasted chow… it has to be made, however, and these guys will do it at a significant profit to themselves. Sweet.

Culinary sims are extremely simple to build. Their ideal Aspiration, Food, is divided into Master Chef and Master Mixologist, both of which divide nicely into the branches of the Culinary career track. Choose based on your preference. (I find Chef makes a bit more money on average, but Mixologists are fun too.) Traits are also nice and tidy, and include Creative, Foodie, Perfectionist, and Outgoing. Neat is a wise choice if you want someone to clean up after all those messy eaters, as well.

Culinary

  • Ideal Mood: Inspired
  • Daily Task: Prepare Food (Culinary and Chef); Mix Drinks (Mixologist)

Level 1 - Assistant Dishwasher

  • Wage: $15 / hour
  • Time: 4:00 pm - 1:00 am
  • Days: Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday
  • Bonus: None

One of the easiest requirements in the game, all your sim needs to do to reach the second level of the Culinary career is clean dishes three times. Sims don’t exactly climb over each other to do this unless they have the Neat Trait.

Level 2 - Head Dishwasher

  • Wage: $16 / hour
  • Time: 4:00 pm - 1:00 am
  • Days: Sunday, Monday, Thursday - Saturday
  • Bonus: $334, Corporate Chic Countertop

To hit level two of Culinary your sim needs to reach level two of the Mixology skill. You can do this via books, or, if you have some extra cash, by mixing drinks. You can do this at a bar. If you don’t have the money for a bar, send the sim to one of the game’s night clubs and they can Tend Bar (and not have to spend their own cash on the drinks, to boot).

Level 3 - Caterer

  • Wage: $26 / hour
  • Time: 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm
  • Days: Sunday, Monday, Thursday - Saturday
  • Bonus: $368, Stainless Steel Auto-Pot

Jumping to level three requires your sim to reach level two of the Cooking skill. Your sim also has to cook an excellent Grilled Cheese. Get crackin’.

Level 4 - Mixologist

  • Wage: $35 / hour
  • Time: 6:00 pm - 2:00 am
  • Days: Sunday, Monday, Friday, Saturday
  • Bonus: $515, Umber Kitchen Sink

To hit level five your sim must reach level three of both the Mixology and Cooking skills. Pretty straightforward, and the chances are good this sim has already hit level three on Cooking at the very least.

Level 5 - Line Cook

  • Wage: $43 / hour
  • Time: 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm
  • Days: Sunday, Monday, Friday, Saturday
  • Bonus: $556, Corporate Chic Counter Island, New CAS parts

To reach the next level in Culinary your chef must reach level four in Mixology and Cooking. Keep on keepin’ on, in other words.

Once your sim hits level six their career options in Culinary will branch in two directions.

  • Time: 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm
  • Days: Sunday, Monday, Thursday - Saturday

They must also cook six unique foods. ‘Unique’ simply means that your sim has to cook six different types of foods, whether they’re Grilled Cheese, Black and White Cookies, Chocolate Cakes, Fish Tacos, or anything else your sims might fancy.

Level 9 - Executive Chef

  • Wage: $253 / hour
  • Time: 5:00 pm - 11:00 pm
  • Days: Sunday, Monday, Friday, Saturday

Hitting the final level of the Chef branch of Culinary requires level seven in Gourmet Cooking and level three in Charisma, a skill you may have ignored completely. Practicing Speeches in mirrors will help you raise Charisma quickly. Your sim also has to Write Cookbooks, found under the Write option on computers.

Level 10 - Celebrity Chef

Great drink!!! Made it for the office for Drink Fridays. Couldn't find grfruapeit bitters, used tequila silver instead of vodka, and used agave nectar instead of honey. Great recipe! Everyone in the office enjoys it.

I do enjoy sharing the love, as you know, so I thoguht I'd give you a chance to try making your own homemade soda. If you don't have a Soda Stream, you can either see if my sister is willing to give you one too (unlikely) or you can just buy seltzer water to mix it up with. I'm giving away my copy of the book, as soon as I finish writing down a few of my favourite recipes. I'm also throwing in a copy of Mommy Mixology: A Cocktail for Every Calamity. You can find out more about that book by listening to my podcast with author Janet Frongillo.
