Tips and Guide for Bakaara in Survival mode on Spec ops On Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 ( MW3 )

Intro

So In this hub i will go over a strategy that will allow you to get to level 30, and survive for a long amount of time. Also i will go over tips and show you strategies that can be applied to all maps. Below is a general guide for all Survival maps.

Also.. I am on the Xbox Live network, for those of you who continue to ask, my gamer tag is Agent Johnr. I tend to not add new members from here unless I play with you first, and I only play hardcore domination, or Infected, but either way if you see me on, feel free to send a shout out.

The guide

So here i will talk about the strategy that you should follow on Bakaara for spec ops survival mode. Please note that i will make many references to the photo, So please look at that first, and let me go over what it should mean. The area you will camp is where the red X's are, the Blue X will represent where you riot shield team will sit. The area is located at the top of the street looking down. And you will look at the enemy rushing towards the top of the street. You will be able to easily hide here for many levels and i will tell you how below.

First off your weapons and gear. You and your partner should have a Light Machine Gun ( LMG ) if not two. Two would be better but depending on level have at least 1. Also Make sure you get self revives early on. You do not start off with these, and having this will help you get further, as once you hit level 20, having many riot juggernauts coming at you will easily put you down, and relying on your partner may be tough. Usually flash grenades are important for juggernauts, but until round 25, the juggernauts, will be taken out quickly if you, your partner, and riot team work on the quickly, and using a flash bang will only stun everyone including yourselves, so just take them out fast. Remember to keep your ammo stocked up, refilling at the end of rounds as necessary. Also you will not be making many trips to the grenade box so stock up early on, and if you are running by grab the items that you need.

The strategy ... So each round, grab a predator missile from the air strike box that is close by. And call it in. This will allow you to take out a fast 5+ enemies at the beginning of each round to make less enemies overall. Then have one player lay where each X is. It does not matter who lays where, as you will both get plenty of action. You main goal is to let the 6 riot shield guys do most of the work, and you provide assisting fire to help them survive. When a helicopter comes in you are actually in a good spot, as the helicopter first flies where it can't shoot you, the usually hovers for 10+ seconds before firing. So please kill the helicopter first here. Anywhere else on the map you are completely exposed and the helicopter comes in firing, but at the top of the street it will not fire right away. Also when the juggernauts come in, 1 will drop in the middle of you. Take him out fast, and the take out enemies. Once three come in, you will most likely have to move. This should be in late rounds, and you should have plenty of money, So don't stress when you riot shield team gets taken out, just be prepared to start running around the map slowly taking out enemies along the way. As running, regain health, and slowly start firing back at the enemies coming back at you. Once you take the enemies out, go back to the top of the street and recall in new riot shield teams, and get re-equipped for the next round.

So that's the basic strategy. You should stay at the top of the street as long as possible, using your riot shield team as a main force, and taking out enemies as they come up the street. Its not good to hide in building on this map because you can easily get trapped especially at harder maps. Also you should not camp at the bottom of the street, because you can get trapped in here, and will get stuck. Also the helicopters will easily take you out fast.

The top of the street provides the best cover, and will allow you to survive for Long rounds. Please feel free to comment, and ask questions. I will also provide you below links to my other survival guides that will help you get high levels in others.

No problem, I am only here to help.. I wait til me and my buddy get a high up in the high scores before i make my guides, and i only post ones that i would use to get far.

Me and my friend got to level 31 camping in the long building from the top of the map to the bottom. Each of us camping at an entrance each with delta squads and predator missiles. Do the jugganaughts get harder as the waves progress? Level 28 I'm sure it took us 5 predator missiles to kill 3 jugganaughts! All with direct hits.

Well what happened there, was they were riot jugger's and you were most likely hitting in front of them, or damaging their shield, and yes they do get slightly stronger as the game progresses.

COD 4 years ago

?s their a way to make the riot shield squads to stqy in one place in ps3 because when i go to refil ammo they come with me and before they come back the round starts and they get killed easilly

Umm well this is tough, if you play with a friend, then each round only one of you should move that way your riot team stays still, but they will follow you, as they think they have to protect you at all times.

John, great articles for strategies on these maps. I'm glad I stumbled across them where mature people can share strategies as opposed to the fighting and hate speech.

Anyway, I signed up for Hubpages just now for the sole reason of commenting on this article/strategy for Bakaara. This is the exact strategy I used for a while, until I found one that is MUCH better. It makes this Insane difficulty "most difficult" map actually one of the easiest.

What you want to do is go to the building in the bottom right of your picture. Not the long horizontal one on the bottom edge of the map, but the one just above that one on the right (about 2 o'clock from it). In your picture, it is the one that sort of resembles a 'Tetris' piece, and it is turquoise colored in your photo. Just to the right of it is where the 'Grenade' hub is. What you want to do is dig in upstairs in that building. The staircase is the ONLY way in for the enemies. That stair case will become your own personal KILL BOX. You can set up a REGULAR gun turret overlooking where the helicopter is crashed outside one window. You have to use a regular gun turret, as the sandbags are stacked too high for a grenade launcher turret. However the sandbags provide protection from enemy gunfire aimed at your turret. Then set up a grenade launcher turret facing the opposite way on the balcony looking at the long horizontal building on the bottom edge of the map as enemies will congregate there as well. All you and your partner do (or just you, if Solo) is sit at the top of the staircase and rain down bullets on enemies as they pour in trying to get to you up the stairs. It's the only way they can get in.

Now, the inevitable...Juggernauts. When the Juggs come, continue this strategy. Again, the stairs are the ONLY way to you. Have one player watch the stairs and kill all of the enemies as they pour in. The other player will be on the second floor as well shooting down the choppers. When the player sees the Juggernaut's have made it to the stair case...jump off the balcony and retreat. It is important that you shoot down the choppers quickly, as when you have to bail out of the building your dug into, you don't want to have to deal with the choppers in the open. There may be a few regular foot soldiers scattered around, so just sort them out while your running away from the Juggs. The Juggs obviously move fairly slow, so you can escape them without much of a hitch and just throw a flashbang or two if you need to buy time. But there is a lot of cover and zig-zag paths on this map. I always find myself back at the air support hub while retreating, buying a predator missile and killing anywhere from 1-3 Juggs at a time without a hitch. On one round I played, they actually clumped up in a nice line with each other 4 deep. One predator killed all 4. When the wave is over with, re-up on your ammo, flashbangs, whatever you need, and go back to the building, set up on the stair case, and await the next few hundred victims to entire the staircase of death. You will get a lot of extra cash from all of the rampage and kill streak bonuses as well. Especially when you smoke the suicide bombers and chemical guys.

I'm telling you...give this a shot, and I assure you...you will re-write this article.

HAha, thanks for the article, i will most definitely try this strategy out next time I can get on there. Really appreciate it when people give me other things to try out, and keep the chat mature without lots of hating.. Which is why i tend to delete a large number of guest comments cause a lot of times they think this is youtube and can post what they want, But anyway thanks again for the feedback :).

Bakaara is a tough map and I think this'll work well.

Arcane Teddy 4 years ago

I prefer using the strategy of Ferris as well. The turrets upstairs here are very hard for choppers to shoot at (they are only exposed from a limited angle of fire).

I do a few things differently though:

(1) I put the grenade turret behind the railing facing the downed chopper (with the turret facing the same direction) that is at the front of the upstairs room - this means both turrets are firing into this area

(2) Given the explosive terminal is so close, I have the player covering the staircase put 2-3 C4 every round in the areas on the ground floor where the AI "group up" (you will notice they tend to wait around and form blobs before rushing you) - this should give you easy $$$ from quad kills

(3) Once the armored troops start spawning, the player shooting from the windows should also throw flash bangs every round to stun the blobs of AI who run through the turret kill zone

(4) When the position is about to be overrun (i.e juggs) the player shooting from the windows throws a flash into the chopper area and you ziz-zag through cover heading north and then follow whatever kiting route you wish around the map - but basically this initial path means any AI chasing you have to run the sentry gauntlet again

This map is tough being that its so hard and many strategies work. The reason i am opposed to your strategies and not mine is the helicopters. In my spot when the helicopters come in, for some reason they hesitate about 15 seconds before killing you, which gives you MORE than enough times to take them out before they start shooting at you. And also this makes you very close to predator missiles which me and my buddy would launch off at the beginning of every round for our quad kills as they run up the street.

Danlishas 4 years ago

Don't forget, if you have LMG, don't forget they take ages to reload, so don't forget to get sleight of hand perk if your a high lvl, so if your against a juggernaut, slight of hand will help a hell load.

Johnrr631992 profile image

Johnrr631992 4 years ago from Tampa, Florida Author

Yes slight of hand will help a lot, but when i made this guide i was not level 50, now i am and this strategy works even better.

Tbyeah 4 years ago

I don't personally find that the difficulty changes how hard it is in survival, it just changes how long it takes to become fun.

Johnrr631992 profile image

Johnrr631992 4 years ago from Tampa, Florida Author

Well, there is no way to change the difficulty itself for survival mode. So if you put the difficulty on veteran, it won't affect the survival mode, it only affects the co-op missions.

Yea. This helps a lot. Thanks. I've been using Ur advice on a lot of maps they really help. I got to wave 34 on dome using Ur stategy.

Me and my brother made it to wave 70 here. We sat in the building at the top of the street, using the one staircase upstairs as a killbox, when juggs come one sits in staircase while the other hides behind the wall, reviving the other when needed. The juggs get stuck in the stairway and can't get by.

Johnrr631992 profile image

Johnrr631992 4 years ago from Tampa, Florida Author

Not a bad strategy. Making it to 70 sounds like you guys got bored and just quit, because on a strategy like that you can make it much further. I do know strategies like that for a lot of the maps I have wrote about, I just prefer keeping my strategies honest, and fair.

Rhw5 4 years ago

Well it definitely isn't a sure fire strategy to get that high, it took us about 50 tries to get there, the juggernauts can still slip by and shoot you. And every now and then choppers hover out the window and shoot you too. This strategy just funnels every one down the alley, allowing you to shoot of the balcony and kill most people before they get to the building, and when they do get to the building, they have one entrance to the upstairs part.

Right, I understand, Im just saying that it does give you an advantage over being out in the open where my spot talks about. It gives you some cover which greatly helps. Either way, every person should find there own little spot to do best, I'm just here to help those who need guidance on a better spot.

Guest1 4 years ago

All I know is that it works and it's not cheating. It's using what the game gives to you to the best of its ability.

Johnrr631992 profile image

Johnrr631992 4 years ago from Tampa, Florida Author

I know its not cheating.... But let me ask you this guest.. If the game has a glitch that is not patched yet, then aren't you using what the game has given you to the best of your ability? Yet that is still cheating... Either way, I don't care, and it's not cheating, I just personally don't use that method on my writing, or my guides for other maps.

Rhw5 4 years ago

I completely get what your saying, and your strategies have helped me get much further on other maps that I've had trouble with.

Wraith 4 years ago

Here's an idea I've used to relatively good effects (like wave 28 XD). Try using 2 regular sentries in the long halway up at the top (sentries facing left, you watching right, with respect to the above map). I tried using a grenade sentry and a normal sentry, as well as having them watch the right, but the grenade sentries seemed to die really quickly for some reason... On juggernaut rounds, if you time your escape right, a dog will stand directly in front of your sentries where they can't shoot it, leaving you time to get ammo, equipment, and all that after killing all the juggernauts and helicopters.

Hmm... about using glitches. I for one, think that using a glitch for reasons OTHER than entertainment is wrong. I think using a glitch to get yourself a high rank is wrong. (On the other hand, I think using a glitch to (attempt) to counter a hacker is an excellent thing to do. Hacking is for retards and jackasses, no offense. I mean, one of the guys on PC has the top score on one of the maps... on wave 0 in less than 30 seconds. You'd think the developers would find a way to do something a bout that? Like use an aimbot to try to determine the max scores per wave?... Sorry about that. Just needed to vent.)

hello 4 years ago

surely the initial hesitation of the helicopters caused by the guides spot of choice is exploiting a glitch? just sayin

darkTempler 4 years ago

me and a friend camped at the buildintg up north abit up the road from your camping spot, putting 2 senty guns at the bottom of the stair case. with the long corridor at the top of the map near the guns as a plan B leg it, when things get serious. it work well but as we were as far away from the explosives we could get we would slip up and one ofus would not make it back in time. this is when we all got picked off. then again we made it to 21 or 24 i can't reemeber.

Dick 4 years ago

Ferris, I like your location, at least upon the start to Wave 6.. But I am unable to get past wave 6. (I did once by luck) But I can't seem to kell this JUG and escape the chopper... I start in at the top of the stairs with 10 Clays at the bottom and around the entrance to the building (and I have a reg Turret on the balcony facing towards the long buiding in the back). I try to kil as many enemies from the top of the stairs until the JUG comes, then I jump out of the balcony behind the Turret... but usually the chopper gets me... I don't have a revive yet, so it doesn't help... and the predetor, when I get a chance to get it before round 6, is not fast enough to get the chopper or anything... so any help?

Wraith 4 years ago

Dick, you're best bet is to try to take out as many regular ground troops as possible first, then focus on the helicopter. I usually wait until after I've cleaned out the map to kill the juggernauts. (Mostly because they're slow and I can stock up on things for the next round XD)

Dick 4 years ago

Thanks. I got all the way to Wave 20. In Wave 6, I did what you suggested. I sprinkled as many Clays at the bottom of the stairs and hang in there until the JUG starts coming up the stairs. Then I jump over the balcony and run into the long and narrow building, go up the stairs and wait until any remaining emenies come up and I kill then (making sure I hide from the chopper), then I run into the room at the end and come out in the other end into the corridor... I wait there until the JUG comes then (the chopper can't see me there...), I flash him and empty the LMG Clip until he dies. Then I go back throught the room and out into the first corridor.. where I hide behind the wall and take down the chopper.

Just as a recap. Wave 1: Use the handgun and take out as many enemies/head shots or whatever lying down at the top of the stairs to accumulate around $3,000.

W2: Use their M5 and ammo, stay lying down at the top and do the same... After the wave, go donw the steps and collect an ammos from their M5s. Approx $6500 on a good round.

W3: dogs will come... so stay at the top and go for all enemies. $12,000 to $15,000 total. As soon as it's over, run and buy an LMG 36+ scope + Grip. Come back to the top of the stairs.

W4: Use your other assult rifle that it came with, and accumulate more $$, After round 4, pick up their AK40 and amo on the floor. then run to the Equipment Box and buy Flash and Claymores, leave enough to be able to buy a Self revive before beginning of Wave 6.

W5 use the AK40 and make sure you have enough Clays (and buy some C4 to keep for later) so before wave 6 starts you do what I said I did in my previous post.

W6: Read my previous comment.

Wave 7, run and buy Ammo, then return to the stairs...

Wave 8, pick up their 6.8 and their ammo and run to the Air Support and buy a Care Package but (sleigh of hand but don't deploy until the end of the next round). Come back to the stairs...

Wave 9, Before W9, run out and drop the smoke outside the entrance, run to the equiopment box and buy 10 Clays, etc... and come back and collect your sleigh of hands before going up the stairs again... You can keep the 6.8 and collect more ammo from enemies...

Wave 10, Before it starts, run up and buy a Predator Missile.... and come back and keep using your 6.8 (so far your LMG is still intact)... right after W10, use up your claymores at the bottom of the stairs and entrances (you have no time t go buy anything). Go up the stairs and as soon as W11 starts step back a little and deploy the Missile and Kill a JUG that just comes off a chopper in the alley near the equipment box...., then approach the top of the stairs and take as many enemies and dogs that come up at you... then as soon as the other JUG starts coming up.. run and jump off the balcony and head up the stairs to the long building again... make sure you watch for remaining enemies/dogs following you up the stairs... kill them fast, then run into the room and out the back door to the other corridor... You may not have a good shot to take against the JUG with the shield so run out the corridor... if you can grab another predator missile and keep running across the other building across the street.. up the stairs and (if you have time and you are quick, shoot down the chopper with it... then jump out the balcony and run away... use this time to buy more ammo if you need it... and more predator missile. If you don't have enough cash... use your C4 at the bottom of the stairs (all 5 of them) and hide away around the corner.. keep an eye on the MAP, when the JUG is over the C4, detonate them... hit X twice (be carefull, anytime you put down C4s stay away from hitting X as when you reload your guns because the C4 would/could explode in your face).

Wave 12-15... go back to the stairs -- build up some cash buy another LMG (86?) if you can and more Clays/C4 and a predator missile to have before Wave 19 starts... (DON'T go out before wave 19... stay in and spread as much Clays at the bottom hallway entrances and near the bottom of the stairs..

Wave 19: Start again with killing a JUG ASAP. then concentrate onto the enemies coming up the stairs then jump off to balcony... here you may not want to wait for the remaining JUGs to follow you... keep running, buy a predator (watch for the chopper) and as soon as you buy it go to the other building again across the street, up the stairs (watch for any remaining enemies -- take them out) then try to down the chopper w/a missile. then you can keep running in circles until you finish all remaining JUGS (I was luck once and got all 3 in one shot... LOL)

W20... you don't have much time to buy and ammo, so if you haven't don't get caught outdoors... make sure you are at the top of the stairs again... and start pumping all you can into the enemies...

I haven't yet made it to Wave 21!

Good Luck

Dicks 4 years ago

Oops. I think I skipped Wave 16: Read 16 instead of 19 in my previous comment., Then go back and camp at the top of the stairs for Wave 17 & 18... My comment for 19 is still good. DO NOT be caught outside for the beginning of Wave 19, so make sure you have the predator missile cnd clays in wave 17 & 18...

Made it to level 23 my first time. But it's a hard map for sure. Surprised I made it so far my first time. Tho I have not played since. Ps. I was playing solo.

Wraith 4 years ago

Dick, a little tip for you. Lead the last juggernaut around the map so you can restock and set up for the next wave. I do that on EVERY map. Then if I need to (on maps where choppers and juggernauts are on different waves), I'll leave one chopper alive and just time sprints from cover to cover, buy a predator missile, and finish it off.

Just a couple of things to try.

Wraith 4 years ago

(usually easier if it's a riot shield juggernaut that still has its shield)

mo30 4 years ago

me and my bro have survived till wave 37.its really terrible. the jaggues running like other enemies we use the building at the near of the air support box in its upstair and do like what ferry said.but there is one question in mind that rhw5 how get wave 70 it not fit in my mind at all.i think its impossible!!

Johnrr631992 profile image

Well mo30 it definitely is not easy, but also not impossible. Just takes a LOT of time...... and luck... lol

Dan17 4 years ago

Dick, your plan works well because I do the same thing EXCEPT for the JUG rounds. What I do I at the end of the previous round I leave 1 guy alive and run to the airbox than kill the guy. I proceed to buy delta squad and deploy. Than buy a pred. I than travel left and into the building, the little room to the right I stack up 5-8 C4's in 1 little spot by the door, than I run to the camp spot and set a bunch of claymores.

Your delta squad will take care of most of the people while you concentrate on the pred and the closest jug.

You can than try to kill a chopper or two but ussually you don't have time. When the jugs kill your delta you bust out left to the long building, kill what comes up the stairs. When the jugs come run to the little room and get ready to blow your C4.

I got to wave 31 using this strategy. It's def the best one especially when you get good bonuses (kill streak, rampage).

Just my input give it a try

thnx but i have another tips

Dick 4 years ago

OK, my friend Bill ANU and I revisited this map... so far we haven't gone beyond Wave 25, but we're going to try again using some of these strategies... I like the idea of leaving 1 alive and run around buy things.. especially setting up the C4 in the small room in the long building -- this way won't have to do it in the middle of the wave....

We also tried the top of the street but used Sentry/grenade guns... mis-read the part about buying Shield Squads... the sentries were useless.... I'll try the squads, but then again, they may work better for my top of the stairs strategy... as they'll keep the jusgs busy while I use the predators to down the choppers.

Would like to also try the other building idea with 1 staricase, and have my buddy behind the wall revive me constantly.. LOL

Wraith 4 years ago

Oh, something else to note about this map. If you have sentries near the midpoint of the long hallway near the top (the building next to the one with the 2 staircases up to it) and you camp out toward the downhill end of the hallway, sometimes the dogs will get stuck against the sentries and will NOT leave the spot. Can make it very easy to go and restock everything at the end of the round. Usually happened to me on non-juggernaut waves.

Wraith 4 years ago

Glad to help! I'd try to take a screenshot for my spot on Seatown, but the mini map doesn't quite show the 3 spots all the enemies gather that well. It's too SMALL!

Dick 4 years ago

We ended up to Wave 46...

We don't use anything (Sentry guns, riot squads, etc) except Air Strikes and C4/Claymores and FLASH and Grenades. Plus 2 or more LMGs the 36 and 86 are the best w/Sleight of hand (also a must.)

We stay at the top of the stairs for all waves except the Juggs' wave. we put the C4s outside and spreadthem around near the pathway from the Air Support box to our building (mostly around the truck) and explode them all at once (double X) when enemies go over them coming to us. We put the Claymore downstairs by the entrances.

BUT, But But! We found a great place for Jug Waves. (6, 11, 16, the every 3 waves... 19, 22, 25, 28, 31, 34, 37, 40, 43, 46...)

We go to the back alley where there is a container (there is an oven/range leaning next to it...) We get on top of the Container by getting onto the oven and hop onto the container.... and stay PRONE... from there, we get the Choppers first, then the enemies and the JUGS. Headshots to the Jugs, and mostly airstikes w/Flash to paralyse them first. Since you only have 3 waves between jugs... you need to buy the ammo and airstikes immediately after the jugs are dead. After the next wave buy all your C4s and self-revive, etc.. and the next round ammo again and run to the container... it should be done systematically. If you have time, throw 5+ c4s where the first Jug comes down (same direction where the choppers come from) and explode them when the jugs walks over them. Occasionally choppers come from opposite direction but rarely. But take out the Choppers first... all 2 of you need to lay into them with LMGs... reviving may be needed a few times... LOL.

Dick 4 years ago

If you noticed, I say 2 or more LMGs... if you are wondering there is a Glitch that allows you to get up to 7 guns.... some don't like to do it, others love it.... You need a Sentry gun each and a chopper hovering above (Wave 6 usually the best... once you kill all other enemies). You need to go inside a building near the Ammo box.... I am not sure I am allowed to share the rest... but maybe google it.

Wraith 4 years ago

Yeah, I know of the glitch, and I do NOT approve of using glitches like that... unless you're just screwing around and not planning on saving that score.

Johnrr631992 profile image

Johnrr631992 4 years ago from Tampa, Florida Author

WOW finally someone who agrees with me against glitches.. haha..

Wraith 4 years ago

The only times I ever approve of using a glitch are:

1) countering a glitcher/hacker

2) using it with a few friends to figure out how to counter it.

3) if it's for a single player aspect where there are no scores/leaderboards.

Exactly.. Although I typically don't even mess around with it.. I just find they all ruin the game, and I submit any glitches hacks I see right to infinity ward, treyarch or any developer of the game.

look on the map, go in the 2nd north house from the right. there is a counter there. 1 sits in the opening, other is laying on the floor.

when jugs come the one sitting in the opening just shoots them and dies, then the one laying on the floor (behind the counter) revives him, and he start shooting again. The one who sits in the opening will block the jugs, so the one that is laying on the floor will be safe :)

made it to wave 65 with this strategy, then we had to sleep :P

(maby not a legit strategy, but it works)

To me Bakaara is the hardest when playing solo, and I hardly make it through wave 26, after reading all these, I made it to wave 38, in two attempts. I realized that turrets are effective when both pointing at one direction. I hope to reach further waves like the rest. thanks man..
