Top 10 Playstation 3 Games For Under $50

Playstation 3
Playstation 3

Before I begin, sorry about the numbering.  I'm trying to fix it but I'm having trouble getting my word processor to do what I want it to.

Don't you hate it that after saving and saving, you were finally able to purchase that beautiful Playstation 3 only to find out that most of the new releases cost 50 to 60 dollars!?! Let's face it, that's not cheap and not everyone has that kind of money to spend on a past time hobby, am I right? For those of you whom are working on a budget, I give you a list of the top playstation 3 games for under $50. Most of these games have already been deemed classics to the playstation genre and are still being played online.

I will base this list on the prices of each game as well as the storyline, replay value, and the time it takes to finish the game. These 3 factors are the most important if you are working on a budget. Think about it. It really sucks to buy a game for $60, beat it, and then have no desire to ever play it again. I will rate each factor on a scale of 1 to 5 stars (*). Hopefully, this list will help you to save money in an economy where it is even expensive to play video games.

  1. Assassin's Creed 2

Price/ $30

Storyline/ *****

Time It Takes To Finish/ ****

Replay Value/ ****

Assassin's Creed 2 is an excellent example of an inexpensive purchase that it worth every cent. With a truly engaging storyline about an assassin named Ezio, AC2 is one of those games you won't likely forget. The extremely vast city and landscape along with lots of side missions and mysteries to unveil are all reasons this game will have you coming back for more and more. This is the first game I bought for my PS3 and I still enjoy playing it.

  1. Killzone 2

Price/ $16

Storyline/ ***

Time It Takes To Finish/ **

Replay Value/ *****

Killzone 2 is one of the best FPS games available for the Playstation 3. The visual effects in this gorgeous game are incredibly realistic and second to none. It really looks and sounds like your in the middle of a war. The 6 to 10 hour storyline is one of the only drawbacks of Killzone 2, even though it is incredibly fun to play through. Killzone 2 makes up this, however, with a great online play. The online aspectc of this game is where it really shines, offering loads of customization, player ranking and much more. Although Killzone 2 was released some time ago, it still has a thriving online community, which I cannot guarentee will stay that way with the upcoming release of Killzone 3.

  1. Grand Theft Auto 4

Price/ $20

Storyline/ *****

Time It Takes To Finish/ *****

Replay Value/ *****

Grand Theft Auto 4 has got to be one of the best games of all time. This game take the GTA series to a whole other level, enabling to do all of the great things you could do in previous games, as well as a all new cover system which makes the combat even more enjoyable. If you take your time to do all the side missions and extras, this game could take up to 100 hours to finish. There is also a new online mode that has got to be the best part about GTA4. Imagine doing everything you would normally do in a GTA game like shooting cops, running over citizens, driving at ridiculous speeds, except this time with 16 players in the same city. I highly recommend this game for it it one you will not soon forget.

  1. Uncharted 2: Amongst Thieves

Price/ $40

Storyline/ *****

Time It Takes To Finish/ ***

Replay Value/ ****

Although Uncharted 2: Amongst Thieves still has a pretty hefty price, rest assured, your money will not be wasted. This game has a fantastic storyline that will draw you in and hold you there. This is good except that the story is so appealing that you never want to quit and before you know it, the 10 to 15 hour campaign is over. Uncharted 2 also has a great online multiplayer mode which makes up for the somewhat short storyline. In Uncharted 2's multiplayer mode, you can incorporate every little thing that you can do in the campaign. And trust me, theres a lot of stuff to do. Uncharted 2: Amongst Thieves has been called one of the best games for the Playstation 3.

  1. Infamous

Price/ $16

Storyline/ *****

Time It Takes To Finish/ ****

Replay Value/ ***

Infamous is another one of those games that allows you to do virtually anything in it's vast city. The graphics in Infamous are stunning as well as the movements controls of the story's main character, Cole. Cole is an ordinary everyday delivery boy when one day, the package he's delivering blows up in his hands and nearly destroys the city. When Cole wakes up, he has lightning super powers. The story will be spent unraveling the reason for his newfound powers and will take you about 12 to 16 hours to finish. I've found that even after beating this game, it's still fun to revisit the city and wreak havoc on the townsfolk.

  1. Tekken 6

Price/ $20

Storyline/ **

Time It Takes To Finish/ ***

Replay Value/ *****

Tekken 6 is the most polished game of the Tekken series by far. The graphics in this game are great making combat look realistic no matter how ridiculous the fighting actually is. Tekken 6 also has one of the largest rosters to date and has added tons of new moves and refinements. As for the story, well theirs not very much to say about it except that it doesn't make very much sense. The story is simply used to give you a break from all the traditional fighting. For those of you who love fighting games, this is a must own. You will be playing your friends on this for months and for the price, it's well worth it.

  1. Midnight Club: Los Angeles

Price/ $20

Storyline/ ***

Time It Takes To Finish/ ***

Replay Value/ ****

Let me start off by saying, Midnight Club: Los Angeles is hard. This game will have you so frustrated because of incredibly hard A.I opponents. Theirs not much of a story in this game. Your basically just a guy who participates in illegal street races to make money in order to customize your cars or buy new ones. Also, the scale of this game is amazing. It actually seems as though they fit the entire city of Los Angeles in this game. Midnight Club: LA also has a fun online multiplayer mode which adds to the replay value of the game. Everything aside, MC:LA will have you coming back for more either because of the sheer joy of playing or because of the intense difficulty. Either way, this is a game worth purchasing.

  1. Borderlands

Price/ $30

Storyline/ ***

Time It Takes To Finish/ ****

Replay Value/ *****

Borderlands is a very fun game in which you'll play as either a hunter, a siren, berzerker, or a soldier. This game has a looting system that of an role playing game, combined with the fast shooting action of a first person shooter. There really isn't too much to say about the story except that your a bounty hunter who kills different types of foes for guess what, a bounty. Aside from the somewhat dull story, this game is still a blast. It has been reported that there are over 200,000 available weapons in Borderlands. Another great thing about this game is that once you beat it, you can play though story again without losing any of your weapons or abilities. And guess what? The stronger you get, the stronger your opponents get, creating an ongoing challenge. Trust me, it's worth way more than $30.

  1. Just Cause 2

Price/ *****

Storyline/ ****

Time It Takes To Finish/ ***

Replay Value/ ****

just Cause 2 is one of the most action packed games available for the Playstation 3. there is tons of stuff to do in this including parachuting from planes, blowing up virtually anything, jacking cars...while driving in another car, and using a grappling hook to latch on to just about anything from just about anywhere. The action in Just Cause 2 it literally non-stop, at least until you finish the game. The story is very exhilarating in it's own over the top way and does a good job of sending from one action packed scene to the next. It will probably take you about 20 hours to finish this games and thats only because you'll never want it to end. This game was recently marked down substantially making it a must have for gamers on a budget. If I could sum this game up in a few short words, they would be,”all around fun”.

  1. Fight Night Round 4

    Price/ $20

    Storyline/ ***

Time It Takes To Finish/ ****

    Replay Value/ *****

I'm sure we all remember Fight Night Round 3, don't we. Well rest assured that Fight Night Round 4 brings everything to the table that it did in Round 3. They essentially kept every aspect of Round 3 and added lots of new features such new fighters, a longer career mode, a new kick-ass replay system and much more. Fight Night Round 4 still has that traditional “work your way up through the ranks and become the best boxer” style career mode, which is not a bad thing at all. Textures and graphics have been dramatically improved. You can literally see the muscles flexing when a fighter is throwing a punch. The replay value for this game and all of it's predecessors has always been in the multiplayer modes. It's just too gratifying to take out your aggression in this game and score a jaw dropping knock out, and it will always be satisfying. Three words, buy this game.

Ok, I hope this list of somewhat more affordable games helps you in choosing your next game venture. These are all games I highly recommend, being that they are actually worth the money you'll be spending for them. Always remember to do your research on a PS3 game before buying it. Look in to the replay value of the game above all. I believe that in itself determines whether a game is really worth it or not. Also, don't be afraid to leave a comment on what you might think one of the best affordable games is. I'm always open to suggestions and will possibly be adding more to this list. Well, thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed. “Dueces”
