Best Xbox Live Arcade Games of 2014

Top 5 Xbox Live Arcade Games of 2014

Xbox Live Arcade

I personally love the Xbox Live Arcade, also known as the XBLA. The Xbox Live Arcade is consistently being updated with discounts and promotions and the summer is the best time to buy some great games which make its way on the Arcade. Game prices will fluctuate between $1-$20, but often are worth every penny. As the Xbox Live Arcade gains more recognition within the Xbox community, more developers and publishers are turning to the Xbox Live Arcade to make shorter and cheaper games for players. So I’ve decided to look at all the games released this year and create the Top 5 Xbox Live Arcade Games of 2014 (so far).

#5. Peggle 2

Peggle 2 offers more of the same from the original. Which is great. With crisp HD graphics, controllable with the kinetic if you’re using an Xbox One and now with addicting multiplayer modes, Peggle 2 is going to be rated as the beloved sequel. If you loved or even remotely liked the original Peggle game, then this is a game certainly for you.

Peggle 2 best represents the ‘arcade’ game of the Top 5 Xbox Live Arcade Game of 2014 (so far).

#4. Trials Fusion

Trials maintains true to the typical Trials formula. Fast bikes, insane tracks, and incredibly competitive ranking system which all blends into a great sequel. With better graphics, more in-depth leader boards, a better track editor. Trials Fusion is definitely a Xbox Live Arcade game worth buying. Most forget that the Trials games are actually found on the arcade it feels like a full on game!

#3. Max: The Curse of Brotherhood

Max: The Curse of Brotherhood is a game that is close to my heart. As someone who has two annoying brothers it felt relatable and it was a nice change having a low stress but challenging puzzle game that makes you forget about your real world problems. The game focuses around character Max, who wishes his little brother Felix away. Once his wish comes true, Max must step through a magical portal and traverse a magical land with a magic marker that has control of the environment to get Felix back. Visually a great game and if you want something pretty to look at this summer, The Curse of Brotherhood is definitely that game.

#2. The Walking Dead Season 2

This is where the * came in at the top. The Walking Dead Season 2 was really released in 2013, but for those of you that don’t know The Walking Dead Video Game is released as episodic content and new episodes are continuing being released throughout 2014. The Walking Dead Video Game is filled with player-made decisions that’ll impact the story and leave you emotionally invested. Although it may not strictly be necessary to play the first game to understand what's happening in Season 2. It definitely is recommended. Season 1 Episode 1 of The Walking Dead is free on the Xbox Live Arcade and I highly suggest picking it up.

#1. The Child of Light

The Child of Light is deemed the best Xbox Live Arcade game of the year so far. The Child of Light, created by Ubisoft, is visually appealing and has outstanding story telling as all other Ubisoft games do. But what really puts this game above the rest is the unique blend of side scrolling RPG combat and levelling system that provides consistent progression and challenges.

The Child of Light takes place in a mystical land where The Child of Light must find and return the Sun, the Moon, and the Stars all of which have been taken by the evil Queen of the Night.

I highly recommend picking this game up or at least trying the trial found on the Xbox Live Arcade as I’ve had a blast playing it.
