Top Free Mario Kart Games For PC

Updated on February 15, 2012

One of the most popular games that Nintendo has ever released is Mario Kart Racing. Many people love these games but want to play them in the next gen, most of which don't own a Wii. There is a desire to play a racing game, Super Mario Kart Racing fills it with a fun cartoon like atmosphere. The best part of Mario Kart Racing games is that you can share them with the whole family. This game is definately focused on bringing the family together and to just have some fun together as a family. They don't skip on the fun either, from loosing the lead at the last second thanks to a lucky red shell the intensity doesn't stop!

There are very few games that are worth mentioning on the PC that have to do with Mario Kart Racing, so I may name a few other games that resemble it. Just because it's not exactly what you are looking for doesn't mean its not worth checking out. Who knows you may find your next addiction!

Flash Games

Flash games are one of the most popular forms of fan based games. A fan will attempt to recreate the game that they like, in this case Mario Kart. Then they will tweak it based on what they think would be fun. There are some that are great but for Mario Kart. This was a little harder to find some good ones for.

Super Mario Kart Xtreme

Super Mario Kart Xtreme doesn't do the game justice, though its pretty fun to mess around with for a little while. You play as either Mario or Luigi and attempt to dodge people on the road and other obstacles. If you happen to run into some of the obstacles placed in your way you will take damage. That's it, you just try not to explode. It's pretty glitchy and annoying at times but hey check it out for two minutes.

Mario Racing Tournament

Mario Racing Tournament is a lot more geared towards the core of the Mart Racing type of game. You race on a whole bunch of different levels in 2D. You jump instead of moving left and right and around a track. You get items and use them pretty much just like in the console games. This is pretty neat for being a flash game as you can even choose which racer you want to be out of a decent line up of characters. They even have a tutorial mode so you can get a hang of the controls before you go out onto the circuit.

Kart Racing Games

Kart racing games in general can be pretty fun and due to the lack of actual Mario Kart look alikes there will be a few free Kart Racing Games for the PC listed below as well! Some of the kart racing games aren't nearly as original as the console version of Mario Kart Racing so don't expect too much. It should be free and for the most part, multiplayer! Multiplayer functionality really adds to the play experience of the game. The thrill of taking on players from around the world in a test of skill is a very fun thing to do.

Go-Kart Game

Go-Kart Game is a simple kart racing game where you try to beat the lap record to advance to the next level. There isn't anything abnormal about this game or anything special. Its pretty fun but there just isn't anything for re playability. You simply go around the track one time with no computers and try to beat the clock.

Super Tux Kart

Super Tux Kart is a very fun cartoony game that has been in, unsupervised development for about 6 years! This makes it out to be quite a long forgotten game. But don't let that fool you, the graphics are dated compared to a lot of games but it doesn't look as old as it is thanks to fans of the game improving it bit by bit. The advanced collision detecting is amazing in my opinion you will see very little clipping and if it physically hits you it will register! Very much worth checking out, lack of multiplayer is to be expected but I hope it comes out soon!

Drift City

Drift City is a MMO, RPG, Racing game. This is a very unique combination, that doesn't exactly fit in with the topic of the page, though the lack of good racing games specifically kart racing games leads to needing to be less picky and look for good alternatives. This is a fantastic game that was designed to be an easy to pick up fun racing experience. It succeeds there as far as I am concerned. The controls where really easy to pick up and just play and the missions that they give you are exciting. The missions that you do give you experience and money in which you can level your racing level and buy more upgrades for your vehicle or just purchase a whole new vehicle. Then once you get bored there and want to test your driving skills you can race other players for some cash! This is really fun but I had some difficulties it seemed like no matter what I did I couldn't win a game at all. It was still a very fun game. This is the first MMO style racing game I have ever seen in my life. This is a awkward combination at first but you get used to it and it REALLY works well together surprisingly. If you are looking for some good racing competition then this is worth taking a look at as it is completely free thanks to ijji hosting the game.

Super Karts

Super Kartz was state of the art when it was released way back in 1995. This game is still fun and now completely free thanks to DOSBox you can relieve these really old games in which many have forgotten about. This is still a very unique experience and of course a VERY fast download. The gameplay is nice and fluent, I was very surprised when I first started playing I was thinking it was going to be like a lot of the older games with no graphics pretty much whatsoever and jittery controls. Though this is true to a point this MUST have been a high end game back when it was first released. Though it is old, its good to see where games have come from to realize just how far we have come. Though since this one is so good it in all honosty puts a lot of games that are released now to shame!

I cannot seem to find this for download anywhere anymore. I have no idea what happened but I will make sure to change this as soon as I find a good place to get it from, since you cannot buy it anymore or anything. It is pretty OLD.

Since this is a DOS Game you may need to download a program called DOSBox in order to play it.

Anything I Missed?

If there is anything you think should be added/changed or anything at all, even just saying hello. Just leave me a quick comment down below and I will get right on it very soon. Thanks in advance for the help!
