   My first card game was War. I think my sister taught me, but I was really young, so I don't remember. After that came old maid and go fish, then blackjack (taught to me by my great-aunt's caregiver when we used to visit on Sunday afternoons).

   My grandfather was a big fan of cards and he taught me how to play snap when I was about 3 or 4 years old. After I had learned that one he then taught me gin rummy, and various poker games.

   The first card game I learned was "Old Maid"...I then moved on to "Go Fish", Rummy, and War.  My mom taught me those.  I am now a great Spades player :-)

   As a child, my cousin taught me various games concerning cards such as Rummy, Go Fish, memory game, bank game, etc. It was an extremely simple bank game that was first the card game taught by my cousin. These games involving playing cards are fun and relaxed. I remember that often during the rainy seasons, I and my cousins enjoyed playing cards. Those were the happy days of my childhood!

   My mom taught us to play Rook and Euchre. Both are still great family favorites and we'll start a game anytime we are all together.

   My Mum taught me Patience (and not just the card game!) and my Dad taught me cribbage. How many hours we spent just playing cards together. Magical!

    My grandmother, who lived in the apartment below us, taught me how to play casino when I was about 5 years old.  She also taught me gin.  My great-uncle taught me how to play knock-rummy when I was about 7 years old - nobody knows how to play knock-rummy anymore.

    I believe the first card game I learned was Old Maid!! I think my older sisters taught me how to play; and did we have fun! You can best believe, neither of us wanted to end up with that Old Maid card!

    The very first card game I probably played was Old Maid, but later I LOVED "Authors".  When my daughter was 10, I looked for that game for her, couldn't find it, and started my company, Windmill Works to publish "American Authors".  Coincidentally a person my same age fondly remembered that game as well, and published the original "Authors". (He could do that by changing only one card- Poe.) The colors and art of his game were much better than my game, and you'll find his cards in game stores all over the country. (Oh, well.) I now have one or two decks that I published left.  Playing "Authors" in the 50's with my Aunt Marion and cousin really set in motion my love for learning through playing and I subsequently developed the card game "Presidential Solitaire" which is a unique way of playing Solitaire by putting the Presidents in order.  I plan to sell the 200 I have left in North Carolina at the Democratic convention if I can get someone to take it there for me.  My husband, a software engineer, developed the online version of Presidential Solitaire that you can play for free at www.windmillworks.com (I think it's under "kid's games"). Just look around the site. It's a fun and challenging way to learn the order of the Presidents:  Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, George HW Bush, Clinton, George W. Bush, and Obama (See? That's how I learned them - playing my own game!)

    There is so many .....I am a card game buff. I'm not sure if it was war or crazy eights. My mom showed me. My dad showed me us poker... We played a lot of card games growing up.
