It depends on where you get them. Down in Florida there are many tobacco plants coming from Havanna which are grown and then dried and ultimately rolled by former Cuban residents and they are sold as Cuban-seed cigars. The real thing is done the same way, huge leaves of tobacco are dried until just supple and then rolled as tightly as you can imagine, cut into the right shape and boxed. There are some store fronts in Miami's little Havanna area where you can still see this. I used to go down into that area when a family member had an import company from Spain that came in through Miami.
