I see twenty total, all in pairs due to the symmetry. 6 that consist of one piece, 8 that consist of two pieces, 2 consisting of three pieces, 2 consisting of four pieces, and the 2 big ones that comprise half the diagram. 6+8+2+2+2 = 20.

I found 8 triangles in one half of the diagram, and since the figure has 180 degree rotational symmetry, the total number of triangles is 2*8 = 16. The correct answer has to be an even number.

I completely overlooked four obvious triangles! Can I change my answer to 20?
