What strategy do you use when playing Monopoly?

Do you always buy the railroads, or try to buy a whole side of the board? Does anybody ever win if they buy the utilities? Photo courtesy of Freedigitalphotos.net and Graur Razvan Ionut

I have to agree with the orange, fairly cheap to build and they always seem to get hits. I never did too well with the green. It sounds like you have a strategy.

We also put the money into free parking. It was so exciting to land there and get a bonus! Thanks for your response.

    Hi Diana,

I have never seen the video version but you are correct, the board game can take a long time.

I stopped playing it for quite a while because I didn't like being manipulated and coerced. I would only play when there was an intermediary involved. I once got so cross, I flicked my houses across the room! Now I much prefer Scrabble.

We always said, "Winner puts the game away". If you won, it never was a problem, if you lost it was like rubbing salt in the wounds! Thanks for your answer.

That is lovely. My kids were so competitive, it was torture. My line usually was, "How can you make me take my house off, do you know how long I was in labor with you?"

Thanks for putting it back into perspective.
