   Which is your favourite video game retailer?
   
   Gamestation was mine before it closed down, but now it's Game and CeX (Computer Exchange). I'd like to know where you guys get your games from so I can have a look around and get some more things to review. Where do you buy your games, new or pre-owned, and why? ^^

   GameStop. GameStop is my favorite because there are so many games to choose from and they even have great deals such as Buy 1 Pre-owned Get one Free! You can even sign up and get a GameStop card that gives you an extra percentage when you trade in games and extra percent off when you purchase new or used games along with points that can be traded in for awesome prizes. You can even play games on a site called Kongregate that is partnered with GameStop and earn points for your GameStop card for getting daily badges.

      In the US gamestop is a rip off and sells pre owned for $5 less than new. Even walmart are cheaper so I'm not a fan. I know in Ireland Gamestop are a little better but have increased their prices a lot in recent years.

      Yes cfin, that is true for games that just come out. I went to GameStop a week after Halo 4 came out and found it used for about $10 cheaper. Why do you think that is? Because it is still new. The GameStop I go to doesn't match the one you described.

      Reward card systems are very common, but linking it with Kongregate is pretty cool! I wish we had Gamestops here in England, 'cause I'm a sucker for reward cards and Kongregate badges ^^

   Probably Amazon.com... It kills me to say that. I remember being a kid, and stores specifically for video games were a lot of fun to go to. But now, the only notable chain around here is GameStop. And GameStop sucks. GameStop is evil. As a collector, I don't appreciate them putting price stickers all over the packaging *under* the plastic. As a consumer, I don't appreciate them selling used games for $55, and offering customers $20 for the same game in store credit. And while what TheRaptorClaw says is true, they do have buy-one-get-one-free deals... They can do that because their prices are jacked up to begin with.
   
   It's funny you mention CeX though. There's one of those in my city. They opened up right next door to GameStop. Exactly one door over, to the right. And they always have a huge line inside, because they regularly undercut GameStop prices by 25-30%. Sometimes it's even more. I've bought games in there for $2-5, that I didn't even want, just because their prices were so good.

      I quite like Amazon; done most of my PS1 collecting there! CeX isn't just a game store either but film and music, so it's not like they'll hurt GS too much! Thanks for telling me your thoughts on Gamestop too ^^

   I have to say about 4-5 years ago I discovered Shopto.net and thought to myself... this is an online game retailer who really puts customers first... was very impressed by them. To this day I use them all the time and never been disappointed by them at all. I find they are especially good for big game pre-orders as for the most part you end up getting the game 1 or 2 days before general release thanks to their release day guarantee or £5 free. Always free first class delivery and scarily quick. Needless to say for GTA 5 I wouldn't order from anywhere else because of this in all honesty.
   
   Offline I used to be a Gamestation fan but actually CEX for me is a good one - although in the last 6 months they aren't as good value as they used to be. Game are slowly turning themselves around and realising their pricing model was too haphazard... you just can't have a game that's been out for 6 months still at full retail price... it was killing their sales.

      I'll investigate Shopto.net, and when I'm paid next week I'll invest in them I reckon! I agree with CeX that their quality isn't what it used to be, and Game are awkward with what they do atm.

      Honestly without a shadow of a doubt the greatest random find for me was shopto.net. I work in Marketing and at one point doing Marketing for this brand would have been ideal for me as good to market something you're passionate about.

   I don't really have a preferred game retailer. I occassionally find a game i can only get at gamestop, but then I go to places like disc replay and get floored by what I see there. I remember seeing a good looking genesis there once, and half a cabinet's worth of games for it. I was also pretty fond of their prices. I also love going to the flea markets around Indiana. I usually get a good deal on a game. There's only one store around my city I've genuinely had problems with. It's an old, run down variety store, and everything I bought from them didn't work. it was the second time running that I finally decided "screw it, I'm not buying from them anymore". Also, I tend to find decent deals on Ebay.

      A good list there, like the personal experiences! I tend to go to eBay mostly now (or ShopTo.net, thanks to Souther's answer), but flea markets are real good ^^

   I shop at both GAME and CEX too. I also get games from HMV, but I don't have a particular favourite.Whichever is the cheapest, I go to.

   Steam.  Steam just seems to have done digital distribution right.  Good sales, good community features, and a quality company that makes great products that gamers love.

   It depends on what I'm looking for.  I hate GameStop's business method, but it'd be an outright lie to say they don't have an expansive collection of console titles, the most pre-order bonuses, and midnight releases.  If it's a PC game, Steam is a natural choice, but if I want a classic PS1 title like FF8, I'll swing by any one-off used game store.

   That's a tricky one i would have to say game stop or steam just because game stop we can exchange and buy used and steam you get games right from your couch.
